  1. Counting the caves, that's, like, 2 contingency plans. He certainly didn't seem to expect the plan of Ascending again to go smoothly if he planned for his own death so well despite effective immortality.
  2. The difference is that an allomancer's ability to continue fighting is dependent on how much metal they have to burn, which is just dependent on the deepness of their wallets. Feruchemy takes a while to build up, and in order to overwhelm a mistborn you'll probably burn through months of charge in minutes.
  3. Feruchemy is generally more practical as day-to-day convenience than allomancy would be, though is less effective if you're fighting people since you'll need so much storage. Compounding solves that though. You can regulate temperature and save on air conditioning bills, overeat and not get fat, but still last a good while when starving, be able to sleep and stay awake on demand (best part IMO), heal minor wounds quickly (probably catch a cold storing, though), abuse weight changes to soften landings or tackle people in sports, hold your breath for a long while . . . So I'd probably go Feruchemist-coinshot. Full feruchemy, and steel usually has more fun uses than iron. Plus, I'll never be late anymore.

  6. Preservation's prophecy turned out more or less entirely accurate (can't be known for sure since parts of it are corrupted) despite him dying being part of the plan from the beginning. Shardic death doesn't do much for prophetic accuracy, it seems. Especially since they're not usually doing anything to force things to happen. On the other hand, Honor openly admits to being terrible at seeing the future when compared to Cultivation, so dead or otherwise we probably shouldn't trust anything coming from him.

  8. Well, spiking doesn't inherently kill the person. Bloodmakers can apparently regenerate from it, so presumably for them to have time to do so it's not tearing the soul apart that kills them, just the physical damage of being impaled (usually through the heart, too. It seems to bind for the theft of a lot of things). It should logically be possible to spike someone without killing them, so can't you just take a second spike and do it again?

    I don't know much about childbirth, can the baby be killed by the delivery itself due to complications? It usually takes near-death for people of noble blood to snap.

  13. There's also atium feruchemy, which does in fact deal with the concept of decay by manipulating age, but it's actual effect in usage makes you younger, not older and closer to being dead. That only happens when you store up reserves to use the power. So it brings you ever closer to the end as a cost, but in return reverses the ruinous effects of aging when that store is spent. One can argue that both storing and tapping have their own utilities, but when compounding comes into play the difference becomes very apparent. Atium itself really doesn't do much ruining while in use, in terms of mechanics, only ideologically at most (burning atium destroys nothing and in fact introduces power into the system. But it does turn you into a nearly unstoppable killing machine, and that's really all it's good for by itself). I can imagine atium spikes having less or no decay as well, since for better or worse hemalurgy has been tied to the power of Ruin. It'd make sense. But atium hemalurgy is more than ruinous enough as it is, being the one metal capable of tearing any part of a person's soul out of them. With enough atium and timed impalement you can literally spike a whole person and all his traits into other people and be left with a body devoid of a spiritweb.

Storms, the quoted statement was in January, when the next recent post prior to the necro was March. You're getting straight to the point and are actually talking about the epigraph, so it's not too bad.
  15. Even sticks are sentient in the cognitive realm. It's a realm made entirely out of thought, after all, of course everything in there thinks. I don't think "sentient" is the word we're looking for here.

  17. Yeah, I'd say they've advanced enough. "Taln"'s repeated lines seem to imply the Heralds generally return from Braize expecting stone age farmers or something.
  18. I would think Nalan would be the prime example of the difference between whether something is allowed to be done and whether it should be done. I would read that fanfiction anytime if he finishes, but telling people who probably realized they were wrong a whole year ago that they are wrong isn't going to help anyone, himself or otherwise. And we're nowhere closer to the truth of Szeth's exile after the initial necro. Which I wouldn't mind us theorizing about again now, since we're here and we can't really withdraw Breath from Lifeless forum threads.

  20. He's still necroing to "correct" info that was written before it was disproven, that was left alone for a year and a half. And literally did nothing else for the discussion itself, which is indeed technically still relevant since we know absolutely nothing about how Szeth became Truthless. I wouldn't really mind if he contributed to that as well, but all he did was dig through year-old stuff to tell off someone on an error that was not even an error at the time, and the guy who wrote it probably found out he was disproven long ago.
  21. Is the difficulty supposed to be a mechanical thing regarding shardblades, or is it just that it sucks to have to give up your personal weapon of mass destruction?
  22. Do keep in mind that most of your body's energy intake is being expended in a savant tin flare, meaning your eyes are basically burning all day until sundown, daylight is blinding, and even a breeze will feel freezing. You'll have to cover up forever.
  23. Lego. That pain eventually passes. Would you rather be a tin savant who automatically metabolizes food into investiture (so as long as you aren't starving your tin is on full blast), or a tin savant that automatically metabolizes investiture from burning into nutrition (so you can literally subsist on allomantic tin, but you are stuck unable to actually burn it, leaving you with really dull senses)?
