Mid-Range Game 17: Hic Sunt Leones
Young Bard replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hrrrmmm... OK, I'll cheer for Dankness Ascendant in the duel between Dankness and Dankness, simply because I find the image of someone duelling themselves to be amusing. (I'll post more about the result after LG27 has started - I'm a bit busy right now.)- 589 replies

Long Game 27: Strife in Ankh Morpork
Young Bard replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That's all right - you sound really busy. I won't hold it against you. Much... Note: There was a discrepancy between the timer ending time and the signups ending time for rollover. To prevent confusion, I am extending the signups ending time (and the game starting time) by one hour, so the timer is now correct. -
Long Game 27: Strife in Ankh Morpork
Young Bard replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Signups end in 5.5 hours everyone! If you want to enter, now's the time! No, I'm updating that now. No, we've got 18 now, I think, though I'm still hoping for about 2 dozen, hopefully :/ It could happen, maybe... I have some clarifications! (Finally...): Clarifications and Amendments: Elbereth (if you can't find the questions/comments, they were on Discord originally. I'll post them if anyone wants to read them.): All factions - with the exception of the Monarchist, attempt to control the lynch, or be the only faction remaining with players that don't have a survive win con. The Monarchists are unrelated to that goal. The Monarchists must make sure the Monarch is elected as Patrician. If the Monarch isn't elected as Patrician, or the Monarch dies, the Monarchists are still able to complete the goal as part of a Guild, the Watch or the Unseen University. Each faction has a doc together, with the exception of the Monarchists. Guild Leaders can either survive or complete their faction win con - they don’t need to accomplish both. The same applies to the Monarchists. Amendment: Guild Leaders who are also Monarchists will no longer receive a survive alternate win con, only their faction and survive win cons. In the Guilds Doc, you have the Assassins Guild Leader, the Thieves Guild Leader, and the Patrician. PM's can't be edited once sent, except to clarify to the GM whether it was meant to be a Post Office or Clacks message. If it's a typo or something, then I don't really mind, but don't post any addendums or new information in an edit, or change any information you have there. Players aren't allowed to use RL/OOG evidence to prove their identity, including Amendment: Monarchists will be told who 1 of their fellows are in their GM PM. The Monarchist counts as one of their fellows. Amendment: If a Monarchist becomes Patrician, they lose their Monarchist win con. Paranoid King OK, I apologize that the GM is addle-brained - I thought I'd edited that out, that's something from an earlier draft. I've removed that line from the Order of Actions. You can't send anonymous messages through the Post Office/Clacks, no. Only the Heads of Guilds vote to depose the Patrician. Amendment: The Head of the Unseen University and the Captain of the Night's Watch, as honorary figures of society, are permitted to vote to depose the Patrician. Killing the other team will help, certainly. Killing the Post Office Master and Clacks Master will also handicap the other team. Everyone can perform those tasks, yes. You can also The Post Office/Clacks deal will only directly affect the Post Office Master and Clacks Master's win con directly. However, it will indirectly affect peoples win cons, because more money will allow people to trade more, pay the Assassin's Guild, etc. The game will end either when the Monarchist becomes Patrician, when a faction is able to control the lynch, or when there is only one faction left who doesn't have a player with a survive win con. Every clacks message will get read by a Clacks Member, not all of them. Which messages are given to which Clacks Member is decided randomly. Where the number of messages is not evenly divisible by the number of Clacks members, some will receive an extra message than others. I'll PAFO that, I think. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of a way to fit them in to the storyline, as this is an Ankh-Morpork game. Sorry. Pestis: That is correct. Amendment: CMOT Dibbler can now sell 2 buns a Cycle instead of one. That is correct. You are theoretically allowed to share anything you want, however, directly quoting from the GM PM is forbidden (you're allowed to paraphrase). The same generally goes for PM's with other players, but that's more a matter of SE etiquette than a rule. And yes, you can lie about anything you want. One doc for each of the 4 main factions (Assassins' Guild, Thieves' Guild, Unseen University, and the Night Watch), plus the Guild's Doc, which will have the Head of the Assassins' Guild, Head of the Thieves' Guild, and the Patrician. Based off something in the books - people can gain immunity from being thieved on a particular cycle by paying a tax of 20% of your coins to the Thieves Guild instead. My mistake. Sorry. Amendment: The Pickpocket now will only steal money, but may do so from 2 targets instead of 1. Amendment: Captain Vimes is now known as Sam Vimes. Sam Vimes is immune to one action each cycle, selected randomly. Captain of the Watch is leader of the Night's Watch. They may be any member of the Night's Watch, whether or not that is Sam Vimes. (In the books, they are the same person, but I've changed that for a more balanced game.) And… immune to all actions? I… may have been delirious when I wrote that, because that is OP (though technically he could still be lynched, but…) Monarchists do not begin the game knowing who the Monarchist is. Uhhh… My mistake. That's all right. I made so many errors typing that up… Wow. I seriously need to learn to proofread. Amendment: To depose a Guild Leader or the Patrician, you will now vote at the bottom of the doc in a pre-allocated area instead of in red/green in the doc, in case anyone wants to pick those colours as their Doc colour. Amendment: I am changing all the coins by a factor of 10. So, what was marked as 2 pennies, is now 20, etc. Amendment: I've changed some of the Guild Doc Rules. In addition to the regular rules, the Captain of the Night's Watch, as someone who provides a guard for these members, may see the Doc but not post. The Leader of the Unseen University may post a message to the Guilds Doc once every turn through the GM, but may not see the Doc. -
Mid-Range Game 17: Hic Sunt Leones
Young Bard replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thanks everyone for bearing with me while I was ridiculously inactive. I should be less so due to RL stuff now. Now I'll just be bogged down with LG27 instead... Alright, I'll post a list of my trusts suspicions, in rough order of most to least trusted. Doc - 90 - Proposed the Julii plan, has been trying to encourage discussion, and I've been getting a village gut read from them this entire game. The only player I know that could do what Doc's doing now so effectively and still be an eliminator is Aman, and he's GM'ing. Just a note - I'm against this turning into a follow the mayor game, not that it's happened that way so far. Just because Doc is a Villager does not automatically make him right on every issue. Rae - 60 - Started the lynch on Bugsy (there's some controversy about surviving Elbereth's attack, but confirmed good does not mean confirmed right, and I don't really think it's too much more likely that a villager has a pulseShield than an Eliminator, particularly if we accept the fact that Wonko also had one.) Jondesu - 48 - Rae raises some valid points, but if they are an Eliminator, they're doing a better job of it then I did my first time (or my second, for that matter)... In addition, they're new, so I'd like to see a little more of them before I judge them, and also allow them to get to know the game for themselves. Sheep - 48 - Has suspicions about me, but chooses to confront me about them in PM's, not in the thread. It could be innocent - a reprieve he's trying to give me from facing all of you, or it could be an Eliminator testing the water to see if he can find his fellows, or trying not to post suspicions in thread for fear they'll later want to present a contradictory opinion in the thread. Magestar - 47 - This sentence in particular struck me - maybe it's because Mage was trying to articulate something for the benefit of the GM (I've been a victim of that in PM's with Sheep ): It just seems... odd, and slightly strange to me. It seems like you're voting for me because it's what you would do as a Villager than because you are one. Burnt - 45 - They're posting very little (which, I know, is not something I can really call someone out on, but bear with me... ), and when they do post, it's mainly RP. Then, when someone mentions them, they respond fairly quickly, so it seems like they're lurking. Dankness - 35 - I've been getting weird vibes from him for most of the game. Claimed Fabii for no apparent reason to the thread C1 (Interestingly, he guessed at the demographic, and he amusingly suggested that the Elim team would have 1 or 2 Fabii ) Then, he asks to take the lynch on Wonko because he's saving up for a pulseShield. The main advantage of a pulseShield over a jamField is that pulseShield's protect from the lynch - both protect from ionBlades, IIRC, and jamFields are much cheaper. Why get a pulseShield instead of a jamField? An Eliminator, worried you're going to get lynched? Or are you just saving up to by an extra ionBlade, or else try to retrieve one from Wonko? I dunno, maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I'm trying to find a reason to explain my bad vibes about him. Wonko - 0 - If you don't know why Wonko's here, you need to pay better attention In reply to me trying to lynch someone else over Bugsy - What can I say... I got it wrong... I wasn't particularly suspicious of Bugsy at the time, and I had a theory as to why there was no Eliminator Kill that Cycle that I acted on. By the way, shouldn't Straw be dead right now from lack of Merit? Or did I mistake what getting negative Merit does?- 589 replies

Just to clarify for the non-Children out there - the Children's Faction Goal has been met now. Seeing as we can't make a GoH un-die (so far as I know), the game will finish tonight. (Would this be an appropriate point for me to start advertising LG27, my Discworld game, which starts tomorrow? )

...Ecthelion, because I personally consider my faction goal more important than my individual goals, and it turns out there's another faction that hasn't yet lost a member (unless that member is Conq). The GM specifically said I had not accomplished my goal after I discovered Orlok was an Independent (Alonoe, to be specific). We don't know how close this full-power faction is to accomplishing their goal, so we need to get there first. Alternatively, something Doctor12 said in PM's back on Cycle 1 makes me suspect he is a member of this faction, though I have very little evidence to support it. Wonko, do you think I'm right? I... think you may be the only one besides Doc and I from Taldain C1 that's still alive.

Mid-Range Game 17: Hic Sunt Leones
Young Bard replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Alright, pulseShield's are one-use, I think, so I'm pretty sure Wonko can die today. (I could probably use the Merit from his death as well, though if someone else is close to getting a pulseShield or ionBlade and wants/needs it more than they can start a duel with him and I'll retract mine.) I don't have much time, so I'll briefly mention that my biggest trust right now is Doctor and Rae, Doctor because he proposed the Julii plan, Rae because she led the lynch on Bugsy. I'll try and get an analysis on everybody else up by the end of this cycle.- 589 replies

I'm sorry, I'm going to have to change that name. It seems a little insensitive. To everyone else, I'm sorry I haven't answered your clarifications yet. I'm going through them right now. -
I scanned Dow a little while back, IIRC, and they were Galladon of the Children (unless I'm thinking of someone else. I'm scanning Orlok tonight. What's Conq's planet so I can hop there tonight?

Mid-Range Game 17: Hic Sunt Leones
Young Bard replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
My apologies for not posting so far. I've been busy IRL, and most of my spare time was occupied with prepping and posting LG27. Unfortunately, I can't promise I'll be more active in future, though I'll do my best to be. The weekends, at least, I should be able to get some theory making done, and maybe even a small bit of RP here and there. My apologies - I probably should have known better than to sign up to this game when I didn't have time to play it. I think the Julii plan is a good idea. I can't really tell what the problem even is that it's been revealed, although that may be me being dense. The way I understand it, the plan can still go ahead and there's not really a lot that the Forsworn could do to stop it. I mean, it's not ideal, but I think if Bugsy were an Eliminator, he didn't really achieve anything by posting even if he was a Forsworn. However, I notice there was no Eliminator kill this Cycle. I know there was no lynch last Cycle, but I didn't think the Eliminators were similarly disadvantaged. I know this is rich coming from me, but I think one of the inactive players could have recieved the ionBlade (remember, they recieve it randomly), and not used it due to inactivity (and I was online, if not active enough to post in thread. Had I received the ionBlade, I almost certainly would have taken 5 minutes to randomly place a kill). Aman, will you confirm or deny the idea that an Eliminator kill could have occurred last cycle? Going by Doctor's list, @Straw and @livinglegend were the other 2 players not to post. Now unfortunately, both were on since rollover, so that can't decide my vote. Failing that, I'll vote for Straw, because they are the more experienced player, so they should be able to make some more insightful comments about the lynch and tactics. So this is half poke-vote, half an indication of what my brain is thinking at this point. If the Straw lynch doesn't take off, I'll cheer for Bugsy towards the end of the cycle, but my feelings for him are relatively neutral.- 589 replies

Long Game 27: Strife in Ankh Morpork
Young Bard replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sorry - I didn't realize the formatting got weird if you copy/pasted it from a doc, so my apologies about that. I intend to fix it all this afternoon. I need to head to school now. If your name doesn't appear on the signups sheet, don't worry - I just haven't gotten around to adding the latest names yet. I'll do it tonight. -
Long Game 27: Strife in Ankh Morpork
Young Bard replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
You're welcome to join. If you have any questions, feel free to ask either the thread before the game starts or if the games started, you can ask anything about your role in the GM PM I'll send you which informs you of who/what you are. OK, Part 1 of the responses (I'm not sure if I'll get through to all of these before I have to leave for school - if not, I haven't forgotten you, I'll get back to it tonight.) Everyone does not have an individual win con, as such. However, many people have alternate win cons that they won't share with all the members of their faction, such as the Monarchist win con, and the Guild Leader surv win con. You can have multiple win cons (generally up to 3, but that requires a series of coincidences to occur). You can have the Luggage without Rincewind. The roles listed there, currently, are what's in the game. However, I'll keep the thread up to date if I make any changes to rules or add roles, so if Rincewind is a popular character that a lot of people want to see, I'll try and put him in. I'll say paying an amount to another player is allowed, and I'll say that if you do that, it fits in with Item Trading in the OoA. I'll adjust the rules when I get back. Yes. I took creative license with the source material there. Nearly everyone is working at either the Clacks or the Post Office unless it's specifically mentioned otherwise. Apart from role-specific things, particularly in the Thieves' Guild, the Clacks and Post Office are the only available way of making money (or, I suppose they could trade stuff and try to make a profit, which could work, but it would be slow going, and would take a while to work.) Members of regular factions know one another; the Monarchists, Clacks, and Post Officers do not. I imagine Death will be in most, if not all, of the write-ups. Some of them are being written by Doc, though, and I have no idea what he's planning, but I intend to put Death in my write-ups, anyway. Also, just as a clarification: 'Messages' count as each individual post in a PM, rather than a whole PM. You can (and probably will) send multiple messages to the same player over the course of the game. -

They can reveal if they like, yes, but it's not obligatory. EDIT: I'd like to clarify that while that can reveal if they want to, they can't use RL/OOG information to prove their claim, for obvious reasons. -
Long Game 27: Strife in Ankh Morpork
Young Bard replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
My apologies for the formatting problems - for some reason, the closing spoiler tags don't appear to be working properly. I'll do my best to fix it tonight, but I think it will probably be tomorrow that I end up fixing it. -
LG27 - Strife in Ankh Morpork The GM apologizes for their extreme laziness, and intends to fix this appalling lack of RP in the next 24 hours. Note: The rules are subject to change during signups. If I decide to change a rule, I will underline the change and notify the thread of the changes. Any suggestions to improve the game before it begins will be welcome, and may or may not be welcome. I've tried to include as much about life in Ankh-Morpork as well, but if you think I've missed something obvious, mention it and I'll see if I can insert the role smoothly into the game. General Rules Days are 48 hours long. Nights are 24 hours long. Rollover time will be at 6:00PM AEST. Signups end on Thursday 20 October 6:00 PM AEST, and the game begins an hour later. Vote in red, retract in green. Players are able to perform 3 actions a Cycle, with up to 3 messages counting as one action. Doctor12 will be GM’ing the game with me. Order of Actions: Protect/Roleblock Actions Wages received Thieving Assassination Money sent to Assassin’s Guild Kill Actions Scan Actions Item Name Changes Item Trading. Clacks messages are revealed to Clacks Workers Transferring Money Independent Roles Patrician - The Patrician has the win con of learning the roles and alignments of every player alive at the end of the game, and survive the game. Due to your extensive scan network, you may discover the role type of a player each cycle (i.e. scan role, kill role, protect role, roleblock role), and the action they took the previous night. If one of your targets performed a scan, you will also be informed of the scan results. The Patrician can be deposed by a majority vote in the Guilds Doc at any time (the Patrician will then be executed). New Patricians are elected following the old Patrician's death in the Guilds Doc, again by majority vote. Post Office Master - Runs the Post Office. Has the win con of making the Post Office more successful than the clacks. If the Post Master dies, Post Office messages will increase from 1 penny to 3 pennies per message (however, they still won't be read by anyone other than the participants in the PM.) Clacks Master - Runs the Clacks. Has the win con of making the Clacks more successful than the Post Office. If the Clacks Master dies, Clacks messages will be made night-only. Monarch - the player who is the Monarch may have any additional role at the same time at the start of the game, with the exception of the Patrician. The monarch has an alternate win con of being elected Patriarch and being crowned. There is also a hidden faction of Monarchists who also have this goal. If the Monarch is elected Patriarch, the game ends with a Monarchist win, and all other faction goals, including the Faction Leader survive goals, fail. Unlicenced Thief - You run on the rough side of the law - stealing is a profession available exclusively to Guild Members. Once per cycle, you may attempt to steal something. However, if you are observed, you will be Arrested and not allowed to post or perform actions for two Cycles, and the money you took off your victim will be returned. To win, you must survive the game and have more than 15 coins in your pocket (remember, the Unlicenced Thief still may work as a Clacks Worker or a Post Officer.) Cut Me Own Throat Dibbler – Once per cycle, you use your incredible powers of persuasion to make someone give you a penny in exchange for one of your Sausages-in-a-Bun. They’ll become violently sick and be unable to complete their actions that cycle, but more importantly, you’ll have earned a penny! Win Con: End the game with 10 pennies or more. (C.M.O.T. doesn’t work for either the post office or the clacks.) Factions There are 4 factions in the game: The Assassins' Guild, the Thieves' Guild, the Night Watch, and the University Students. In addition, the Monarchists are also mixed in with the other factions, and do not know who the other Monarchists are. There are specialised roles in each Guild, however, not every specialised role listed may be included. Plain roles - roles with no particular power, are possible. The Assassin's Guild: The Assassin's Guild is the closest thing to an Eliminator faction in this game. Every Day Cycle, people may hire the Assassin's Guild to inhume (kill) someone. The Assassin's Guild is free to choose between the offers that are presented to them, however, they may not kill a player that someone has not commissioned them to kill (Assassins Guild members may not commission their own kills). Advertiser - The Advertiser is in charge of making sure that everyone is aware of the guilds prices and agenda, permitting them to suggest prices to kill certain players, which will be placed in the quicklinks next to the player names at the beginning of the next cycle. Once place, the suggested kill prices will remain next to the players name for the rest of the game unless the Advertiser chooses to update or remove it. The Thieves' Guild: The Thieves' Guild may target 2 people to thieve from each night. However, players can gain immunity from thieves if they choose to pay 25% of their current gold each cycle in a levy. The Thieves Guild will be informed of which players they can target each cycle. (They also may not target the same person on 2 consecutive nights.) Depending on which thief targets them, other effects may also occur. When you target a player, all the money and items are stolen, unless an item has a special ability to do otherwise. Pickpocket - The pickpocket only steals a players money and not their items, however, they may target an extra player each night. Banker - “Take a penny from a man, and he’s poor for a day. Make a man open a bank account, and he’s poor for the rest of his life.” Instead of stealing all their money at once, you steal 2 pennies initially, and then one penny per turn until either the Banker dies or the game ends. These pennies may not go toward the Tax. Highway Thief - The direct way is best. Threaten them with your knife, and you never get any trouble. If someone has an item that protects money or items from being stolen, it is ineffective against the Highway Thief. In addition, the Lookout role may also be included. Every Cycle, the Lookout may detect all the items a target player has. The Night Watch: The Night Watch, the outcasts of society, found their compatriots among the cobblestones and empty streets of Ankh-Morpork at night. Each night, you may arrest someone, roleblocking their actions and all actions against them. Sam Vimes - As someone who is cynical of all around you, you gain immunity from an action each night. As someone who is very selfless, you also give away much of your money to those who can't afford it, so you may call upon a player not to perform an action 3 times throughout the game because of their gratitude to you, although you earn 15 pennies less each cycle. Corporal Carrot - As someone who everybody trusts, you have extraordinary sway over people. Every cycle, you may shift a vote to vote with you. Angua - As a Werewolf, you are able to sniff out the role type of a player once every second cycle. Unseen University: The University of Ankh-Morpork trains students in the way of arcane magics. Unfortunately, most of the students are more interested in getting drunk and visiting various… seamstresses rather than focusing on their studies, so it’s up to those left to do what they can. The Librarian - The University discovered that late returns dropped by nearly 100% when you had a 200 pound orangutan to answer to. Every turn, you may compel someone to change their action target player to someone of your choice. The Luggage - The Luggage does it's best to protect it's owner - each night, all actions directed against the Luggages target are instead directed at the Luggage. If a kill action targets the Luggage, the attacker will die instead. However, if the Luggage or their target is targeted, the Luggage will not be able to vote or perform actions the next Cycle. Rincewind - Coming Soon! (I intend to put this role in before the signups end due to popular demand.) Guild Leaders Guild Leaders gain the alternate win con of surviving the game. The Head of the Assassin's Guild, Head of the Thieves' Guild, and the Patrician may post and see the doc. The Captain of the Night Watch may view the Doc, but mot post in it, and the Head of the Unseen University may post a message once per cycle through magic (also known as the GM), but may not view the Doc. In the Guilds Doc, all Leaders (not including the Patrician) are anonymous, referred to by their faction title, i.e. Head of the Assassin's Guild. Guild Leaders retain all skills and abilities they had before, however, when those abilities are used, there is a 20% chance for each ability that you will be recognised when you are performing an ability, in which case, the action you took will be revealed in the write-up. (Note: Residual effects, such as the Banker’s Thieving, are not included in this. If a Guild Leader dies, the next Guild Leader is elected randomly, unless a player within the Guild aided in the Guild Leader's death, in which case, they will be elected. (There will be no indications of which of these two it is.) It is also possible to depose a leader within the Guild Doc by voting them out (useful in cases of inactivity, etc.) in favour of a replacement by voting for a candidate you hope to replace the Guild Leader with in green. A majority vote in favour of the new candidate is necessary. Post Office and Clacks (a.k.a. PM Rules) People will be assigned randomly to either work at the Post Office or the Clacks, and under ordinary circumstances, you will receive 3 pennies a cycle. Clacks workers automatically get one action deducting from them when they work in the Clacks towers, however, they are able to read some of the messages sent through the Clacks (the messages will be divided equally between Clacks Runners). Post Officers do not have an action deducted from them, however, they also are not informed of any messages that are sent with the Post Office. Clacks Messages can be sent at any time, and will cost 2 pennies, while Post Office messages can only be sent at night, and cost one penny. Each individual post in a PM counts as a message. It is possible to have both kinds of messages in a PM, so please specify before each message which kind of message you're sending. The Post Office and Clacks compete with one another. As such, if you are a Clack worker and aid in the death of a Post Officer, or vice versa, you will receive a 2 penny bonus in your wage the next cycle, though if you aid in the death of one of your own, you will have a penny deducted from your wage the next cycle. Items & Trade You are permitted to trade items with other players in exchange for money or other items. Doing so will cost an action for both players, unless someone gives an item away for free, in which case, only the giver will need to submit an action. Both players need to clearly state the terms of the trade to the GM in the GM PM in the same cycle for the trade to take place. There is no way to verify the authenticity of an item if you are attempting to trade. If you are informed of an item that exists, there is probably an item with that name, but it’s purpose is not necessarily what the other player says, nor are item names necessarily an indication of what an item may do (particularly if the item was designed by Bloody Stupid Johnson). The GM will allow you to change the name of items at the cost of an action. Upon the death of a player, any items they had will go up for a public auction, in which only the item name is revealed. Alright, that's my game. Have fun, everyone, and merry killing! Clarifications: Q: Can you reveal your identity if you're a Guild Leader in the Guilds Doc? A: Yes, but it's not obligatory. (Actually, I stipulate that you can't confirm it with RL/OOG information, etc. for obvious reasons. You're more than welcome to lie if you so choose.) Q: What are messages? A: Messages are single posts within a PM. A bunch of other clarifications which I will transfer soon, for now seen here. Player List: Quick Links:

If you here of the Bloodthirsty Goddess - that's also Wilson. It's a long story. In fact, I feel there should be a place to discuss a lot of the in-jokes of SE, and about things in SE in general, because past games are mentioned a lot. I'll try and collate that here. Basically, I'll try and add anything noteworthy that gets mentioned frequently and might be confusing to a new user, and if there's confusion they can come here and use the mighty powers of Control-F to find the relevant SEncyclopedia entry. Umm... Why are we lynching Ecth, sorry? I haven't really payed attention to the last cycle, sorry, but apart from an early C1 bad read, I haven't really had a reason to suspect them the whole game. I'm catching up on the thread tonight. Eh, what the hell, I trust that you have your reasons for now, though I'll retract my vote later once I read through the thread if I find I disagree. Ecthelion. I think I've got fairly reasonable evidence that you are who you say you are, and you wouldn't need to lie as that character.

Daniyah was Dilaf of God's Own Hate. (And Bugsy was Lady Sequence, though we already knew that.)

Yep... Particularly after I die... I wouldn't be surprised if it's the shortest Elim Doc ever... Congratulations to the village on their win, by the way. Even if you accomplished it by bandwagonning on me at 2 o'clock in the morning... *grumbles* (seriously, well done. I thought we had this one in the bag from the beginning, but you pulled through.) A special congratulations to Daniyah and Lady of Chaos for killing Mark and then Ecth in two consecutive cycles.

Mid-Range Game 17: Hic Sunt Leones
Young Bard replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Time for showing off... I've found this website a great resource - you can search up all the libraries in your area that have any given book by location. I thoroughly recommend it - same goes for anyone else looking for a book that's they're trying to get a hold of... I can personally guarantee it's accurate when it comes to books in Sydney, at least, but I'm not sure how good the service is internationally. worldcat.org I'm curious which library would have the second and third books but not the first and why... Maybe the first copy got lost or stolen? Strange...- 589 replies

Orlok is with me on Sel - I have no idea where Conq is, which probably means he's on Nalthis, which I think is the only planet I still haven't visited. Daniyah's on my planet, so I'd be happy to scan her (and Bugsy at the same time). I don't really have anything more important to do with my actions until an Independent dies, so it's not really a problem.

Mid-Range Game 17: Hic Sunt Leones

I'll sign up as Gregor, the Gold who had an epiphany going through the Institute that he was really a haemanthus blossom. Unfortunately, the other haemanthuses pick on him if he tells them, so he keeps this important revelation to himself.- 589 replies

Clarification: When I wrote this, I had no idea how much scanning cost you, and your refusal to scan me sounded more selfish than anything else. And yes, I went so far as to threaten you with trying to take the Lifeless Squirrel if you didn't agree to scan me, something you've omitted both times now you've mentioned it in the thread. And yes, I do disagree with what I did then now, because it was very dictator-y and generally unfun. What's more, once you revealed what losing Investiture did, I backed off, because I hadn't heard of that mechanic before, and had no way of knowing until you told me. I'm honestly surprised at this - no-one on Scadrial gained anything by attacking you, just lynching/killing you. In fact, I'd kind of hoped that I'd be able to lead the lynch on you and then scan you accomplishing both my individual goals once you'd accomplished this, so delaying your win con actually hinders me. If 2 people attacked you (or one person twice), then I'm sorry about that, and I don't know why they'd do that. However, don't mistake the actions of the few for the actions of the many. This is the actions of 1 or 2 people, so blaming the whole of the Children for this is unfair. In fact, you don't know that the Children did this - it could just as easily be God's Own Hatred, the Ghostbloods, or other Independents. Bugsy admitted he voted on himself to try and convince people not to vote for him in logic I can't quite follow. He's trying to stay alive right now, to complete a partial win con (which I'll talk about more in a moment), or else because he's lying and he thinks he has a chance of winning. Which brings me to my next point - I tried to lynch Bugsy, but the mood was very much against it. Personally, I don't believe Bugsy's claim of being the only Eliminator left, and without the support to lynch Bugsy, the next best way is to find another Eliminator through the lynch to try and prove Bugsy's claim is a lie, which is why I attempted to lynch Sheep and then Dow. When I lynched them, (Dow in particular, since I wasn't even leading the lynch) I was aiming purely for my faction goal of destroying God's Own Hatred, not any attempt to prolong the game. Aman, so far as I can see, was after the same purpose, so I don't think it's fair to blame him either. To the best of my knowledge, the partial win con is not GM endorsed - it will still count as a loss. However, people who have failed one of their win cons are striving to achieve the other 2 simply because the alternative - quitting the game and not doing anything else, would make the game dull for those who remain. So, while I agree with your sentiment that it should count as a loss officially, I'll say that you should still aim for those win cons you can still achieve anyway, because people can enjoy the game more that way. I have a lot more to say, but I'm kind of doing several things at once and it would probably take me a couple hours at least to complete, so I'll post this now, and try to get around to the rest as soon as possible. Oh, one last thing (I can't be bothered quoting): To me, 'Independent' is just someone who is not part of a faction, not that they are completely separate from what's going on in the rest of the game. If Independents were separate from the rest of the game, then it would be too easy for them to claim as such at the beginning of the game, and then be ignored. People who aren't in a Faction can still influence a faction, and change the course of the game according to the whims of the player and their win con, IMO. And I find something else to say... Wilson, you're assuming that it was Aman that was downvoting you here, which is an assumption. I don't want to be condescending and tell everyone to calm down, but this thread is getting out of control, and I'm a hair's breadth away from calling the impartial mod in to try and sort something out. I don't want to end this game on a bitter note with the game being cut short due to masses of quitting over this. I don't want to put words in Wilson's mouth, but I think she's considering the Village to be sore winners, selfishly acting for their own win cons and draining the fun out of the games in the process. I've responded to that further up in this post.

If you've already failed one of your goals, what's the point in not revealing the roles/alignments of the dead? Are you still aiming for a partial win? 3 Goals: Kill all of GoH Use Crime Scene Investigation (my scanning ability) on a player of each faction plus an Independent (nearly succeeded - so far as I'm aware, after tonight, I'll just have the Independent to go...) Aman, if what you say is true, can you quickly confirm/deny whether there are any other factions that you know of? I don't think that will trigger the third win con, because it doesn't *reveal* it, as such... Lead the lynch on an Evil - I'll be active at rollover each day for basically the rest of the game, so I should manage to lead the lynch on Bugsy whenever we decide to do it, or Lopen tomorrow.
