  1. I kind of forgot all about this. In Brandon's last State of the Sanderson, he posted an ETA for the Cosmere Books up to 2022, which is about the same distance I was prepared to speculate on, so I don't really have anything else to add. While the ETA's out slightly due to Stormlight 3 being delayed since then, in general that's still the most accurate source of information. The next State of the Sanderson (assuming he sticks to his regular pattern) will be up in a couple months, so if he doesn't give another ETA for the books I'll revive this to try and give it a go.
  2. Just a note - the optioning to DMG is not a new thing. The only new thing that's happened is that Stormlight has been moved up to "Step 2", as Brandon puts it. The original rights were leased before Brandon made this Reddit post in July 2015: This just in - Shimmy is a troll Personally, I'm excited - I honestly haven't gotten the impression that they're trying to rush into anything - they've left it long enough that I'm confident they're not aiming for a quick cash grab, and I imagine they have long enough left on the contract that they're not rushing to get something out like what happened with that Wheel of Time TV Episode. So, I'm going with cautiously optimistic for now.
  3. Alright, I'll also cheer Assassin. I had a great big post typed up about why, but my internet blanked out for a second when I was about to post it, so I don't have it anymore... Basically, in order of most to least trusted (I had more reasons before the refresh monster hit, but I've got to head back to school again, so I don't have time to really type it out again): Stick - I think Burnt posted that 'trust Stick' thing for more than just a gut read. Probably has helped kill/reveal an Eliminator in some way. Doxis - Neutral. Post more please, @Doxis? Sheep - Tried to cast suspicion on me like Len and Mage did, but he did it in PM's first before I revealed it to the thread, so it could easily be villager!Sheep. Jondesu - 50% chance of being an Eliminator if Jefry is village, but I don't think they are, so... *shrugs* A PM suggested he might be evil before (I think it was Burnt?) Assassin - I think Assassin might have tried the LG25 tactic that worked so well for him again. It's possible that if he's the last Eliminator, he got driven out of inactivity in order to earn Merit now that he can't ride off the others activity, which is why he's a lot more active now that Mage is dead. Jefry - Claimed Thorne as though that cleared him - he could easily be an Eliminator Thorne. Very little evidence to support his claim.
  4. I am doing it this year! I've attempted NaNo twice before and failed both times, but I basically made those ones up as I'm typing, and I'm hoping actually storyboarding and planning this time will get me through. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Possibly the fact that I started tinkering with ideas 2 months ago and still have less than a page of notes might be an indication that I'll just end up doing the same thing again, but... hopefully not.
  5. [Write-up to be edited in] No-one has died! Day 2 has begun. It will last 47 hours. REMINDER: Now is the time to pay your taxes and/or send in an assassination request to the Assassin's Guild. 6. Hmmm... I'll sign up to do a QF for my Trouble in the Homeland game I posted in Discord a while back. I didn't have time to fix all the issues with LG27 and there are a few fairly significant things I'd change already at Night 1, so I'll post a full draft of the rules now so there's plenty of time for editing before I run it. (Note: This is just a copy/paste of what I put on Discord a couple months ago - there's nothing new here.) QF: Trouble in the Homeland (has a game been called this already? It sounds familiar...) I wanted to create a game which had kandra shifting bodies as a mechanic, and this is how I did it. I basically remodelled the events of HoA to suit my needs after that, but I still quite like it. Note: This game has fairly major spoilers to the Hero of Ages in it. Don't open the spoiler unless you've red the Hero of Ages.
  7. I accept your apology, Elenion. Sorry for not mentioning it before. Regarding whether I trust Lopen - I'm neutral on Lopen from a first-hand perspective, but I'm fairly certain I trust Burnt, which makes me less likely to trust Lopen and Mage. So... I don't know. I completely misread Lopen in LG25, which is the last game he was a full Eliminator, so... I'm not really the one to ask. IIRC, Straw posted when I made a rather ironic post about inactives to say that RL stuff had come up and that he wasn't going to be able to play. I was waiting to see if Aman could find a pinch-hitter to replace him.
  8. The mob gathered into the graveyard, yelling and screaming loudly enough to raise the dead*. "Hey Death!" someone shouted. "Come out! We want to kill you." "AND WHY WOULD I WANT YOU TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT?" Death asked casually, sitting on top of a tombstone. "If we kill you, then you can't kill us all, and we'll all live forever!" Someone exclaimed, waving their pitchfork enthusiastically. Death gave him a strange look. There was a pause. "What's that supposed to mean?" "THAT WAS ME RAISING AN EYEBROW" Death explained. There was a moment of hesitation. "Errrrr... you don't have eyebrows." "YOU'RE A SENSITIVE ONE, AREN'T YOU?" Death said. There was a pause. "Are you changing the topic?" someone asked. "FROM YOU TRYING TO KILL ME? WHY WOULD I DO THAT?" "Because you don't want to die, obviously." "I'M DEATH. HOW EXACTLY DO YOU PLAN TO DO THAT?" Death asked curiously, genuinely intrigued. From somewhere, a spear was hurtled at Death. Death lifted up a hand and caught it. "REALLY?" There was a shifting among the crowd. "Worth a shot, at least." someone muttered. "I SUPPOSE YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN ALL OF YOU." There was a pause. "We only tried to kill you. Don't be like that..." "YOU DIDN'T JUST TRY TO KILL ME, YOU KNOW. A'TUIN'S SENSITIVE. DID YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT HOW YOU TRYING TO KILL HIM MIGHT MAKE HIM FEEL?" There was a pause. "HERE HE IS, CARRYING YOU ACROSS THE SKY, DAY IN, DAY OUT, AND YOU ALL WANT TO KILL HIM. DID YOU THINK? DID YOU WONDER HOW THAT MIGHT MAKE HIM FEEL?" The mob shuffled their feet slowly. "HE DOESN'T NEED YOU. FRANKLY, IT WOULD BE A WEIGHT OFF HIS BACK IF YOU ALL DISAPPEARED."** Slowly, the mob bowed their heads, shamefaced. "IF YOU WANT TO KILL EACH OTHER IN YOUR PETTY FEUDS, THAT'S FINE. BUT LEAVE A'TUIN ALONE. HE DESERVES BETTER. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LONG I SPENT COMFORTING HIM?" The mob slowly backed away from Death, who was pacing towards them, advancing angrily, his scythe acting as a cane at his side, clicking away at the cobblestones. "IF YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS AGAIN, THEN THE AUDITORS BE DAMNED. I WILL FIND YOU, AND I WILL MAKE YOU PAY." Slowly, the mob turned and ran. Death turned, and vanished, reappearing beside the head of the Great Turtle A'Tuin, slowly pacing across the sky. "IT'S OKAY, MY FRIEND. THE HUMANS WON'T TRY TO HURT YOU ANYMORE." And Death could just make out a small lake growing in the corner of A'Tuin's eye. *Something which is generally considered a bad thing to do in a graveyard. **Both literally and metaphorically. You attempted to lynch Death, but failed! Night 1 has begun and will end in 48 hours! Note: This has been extended by 24 hours more than originally planned because I can't do rollover tomorrow. 9. Hmmm... that's... a valid point, but why would Wonko waste his Merit if it was going to go to another Eliminator? Seeing as the Merit Wasting PM tactic hadn't been thought of yet, it would hardly have been noted if Wonko hadn't done it. And I didn't collect an ionBlade either from Wonko didn't have one. Wonko musn't have had it, which is why an Eliminator kill was performed C4 - it wouldn't have been if Wonko had held the ionBlade, as he would have been lynched before he could have performed it. So, we know that whoever performed the kill had more than 14 Merit, seeing as we know that's how much Wonko had. I'm pretty sure you can tell from my activity that that's clearly not me (Sorry about that, by the way.) If anyone was particularly active C3 (the cycle before Wonko died) in order to take enough Merit to get the ionBlade instead of Wonko, I'd suspect them, but I haven't gone through to check.
  10. A little over 7 hours. I'm updating the timer now. EDIT: A reminder - Assassination Requests and Thieves Guild Taxes should be paid during the Day in order to let the respective Guilds know who they may kill. Sorry for not reminding you at the beginning of this Cycle. Also note: I forgot to add Araris Valerian to the player list at the beginning of this game. He is playing in this game.
  11. Apologies everyone - I've forgotten to work out how much money everybody starts off with. I'll be balancing it over the next hour or two (intermittently with class), and I'll get back to you all in about 2 hours with how much you started out with. Sorry about that
  12. Ah, you're right. Elenion. I forgot it was the other way round. Now I just need to remember how to retract... I'll just edit my vote out of my previous post.
  13. Hmm... Placeholder vote on Dankness, because I am a little suspicious of him, but there are a couple other things I want to check up on before I consider it final. (By the way Dankness, a quick correction on something you said last Cycle - you claimed Cycle 1 in the RP. Something about a slip of paper with Pierce au Fabii on it? I really didn't see any reason to do that.) EDIT: Removed vote because I voted for the wrong person... :/
  14. If you lynch A'Tuin, you will get an awesome write-up. Also, you'll all die. Just saying... All PM's have now been sent. If I missed you somehow, or if you have questions, please PM me.
  15. For those who don't know, I am finishing off the PM's now. Sorry for the long wait, everybody. You should have them in the next 20 minutes (not that I haven't lied about that before ) I intend to extend rollover, the moment I double-check with Alv.
  16. Apologies to all the people without PM's... Of all the nights for my laptop to have a spas attack... I'll be sending out the rest of the PM's now from mobile... (Fun )
  17. To everyone who hasn't received a PM yet, you should receive it in the next 20 minutes or so. Sorry for the delay.[/color=blue] There are three things a politician must never do. This is a well known fact. The first one, as has been laid out since the dawn of time, and passed down with meticulous care, is to never tell the truth.* And, for the most part, this ancient law is followed. So when the Patrician claimed they were retiring, it barely caused a stir. Patricians, traditionally, only ever retired one way, and it involved their head on top of a spike. At first, they believed this was a scheme, a way for the Patrician to achieve their own ends and goals. Then they though it was a practical joke, a jape designed to amuse them. Finally, they thought the Patrician had somehow gone insane - not that that was anything to be ashamed of, mind, for insanity was a great thing to have - it provided more entertainment for all involved.** Finally, it dawned on them - what if the Patrician was telling the truth. The whispers spread around. Surely it couldn't be true... Could he not simply be mad? He is mad, but this is unreasonable... Why could he not just sacrifice a few people in a pagan ritual every now and again? All this truth-telling business gives me the shivers... What do we do now? What do we do now? As the whispers were spread around,*** more and more people flocked to the palace, demanding an explanation. Why on the Disc would someone do such a heinous thing. All were blocked at the gates by the Patrician's Guards. Except one. Silently, they crept in. Minutes past, and they crept out again, silent as a shadow^, unnoticed by all, even the Gods up on Cori Celesti, who were particularly enraptured in a debate about whether godhood gives them the theological right to perform practical jokes on their followers. And when the Patrician was next seen in the morning, he was dead. Balance was restored, and the world once again was returned to its constant soothing state of civil war, as the factions saw their chance for power. *Of course, this in general has made it virtually impossible to determine what the second and third things a politician must never do actually are, because they'll invariably lie. **Some claimed otherwise, but they were genuinely pre-emptively tortured in order to maximise enjoyment for all. ***Whispers, generally, are best thinly spread, mixed with lies and a touch of paranoia. ^Shadows are frequently criticized as an imprecise measurement by literary figures. Shadows are known to make more or less sound, depending on the Shadow. Generally, however, shadows that make noise are rightly seen as a sign of your impending doom, so most people choose Joe has died! They were the Patrician! Dalinar Kholin has been elected the new Patrician! Day 1 has begun, and will end at 6:00PM AEST. One final note - the role of Rincewind was added to the rules at the last minute - all actions that target Rincewind have a 20% chance of failing. A quick reminder - only Clacks messages are available during the Day. If you wish for a cheaper, private, Post Office Message, you must wait for the Night Turn. Player List: 1. 18. Signups are now closed! The game should begin in about an hour (possibly a bit more, depending on how long it takes.) EDIT: Note: Please do not start posting messages to other players until the game has begun. EDIT: It's been an hour, and I'm not ready yet. Sorry everyone. Expect it in about 45 minutes.
  19. That's all right. I'm not going to turn down a player - I have few enough. I haven't done the randomizations of players yet, so it's all good.
