  1. I think I'll poke-vote Drought. Alright, time to post some strategies: Bondsmith - My advice? Start PM's with yourself and two players you trust most in the first couple cycles - claim early, use your Adhesion ability to prove to both your targets you're telling the truth. I'll be very annoyed if someone claims Bondsmith just as they're about to get lynched, and then they get lynched because no-one believes them. If one or both the people you claimed to die later on, repeat the process. Your primary goal is to stay alive - avoid the Diagrammists as well as you can, but tell everyone else your win con (easier said than done, I know). Edgedancer - Your friction ability is our best chance of finding a Diagrammist - if the Diagrammists are so nice as to label their PM's as such. Don't claim immediately (which might be a bit late, I know...) - wait 3 cycles or so, targeting a different person each cycle. Once you've done that, offer up what you've seen to your captain/commander/leader (hope that none of them are Diagrammists :/ - I'm not sure how to fix that... Restares/Thaidakar should eventually be able to see whether any of those players should not have PM's together. Although, now I think about it... it's quite likely Wilson would have put a Diagrammist in your chain of command to prevent this exact thing, so... I don't know. Maybe just try and work out as many Diagrammists as you can... Hmmm... Dunno. Wilson, are Edgedancers allowed to self protect? Can they use both actions on the same night? The final option, where the Edgedancer reveals and then hopes that another protect role is protecting them, makes me extremely nervous. I wouldn't put it past Wilson to leave out protect roles or something just to defy expectations... (I mean, the chances of that are extraordinarily unlikely, but it could happen...) I don't have any ideas for you for Progression, sorry. Just... try to keep people alive, I guess. I just discovered that I have to do something now with no notice, so I'll leave this here for now. I think I'll be able to get to all of the Radiant Roles at least tonight, but I'm not sure about the minor roles. Sorry I couldn't do more... Anyway, bye for now.
  2. Sorry for the double post, but I didn't see this until I made my first post. Hmmm... I suppose Arinian, because you've gone into more in-depth explanation, which is good, and your post about Lopen's voting pattern Cycle 1 is valid - start with that next time... I suppose I'll quickly vote on Assassin, to ask him why the same reasoning should apply to voting on Lopen as it does on Len. I don't understand this bandwagon on Lopen... I'm probably going to place my vote on Len or perhaps Mage again if things keep going the way they are... Assassin votes for Len and then for Lopen, Arinian takes his vote off Lopen and then on again, and Drought votes on Lopen as well all within 10 minutes of each other... what the hell is going on? Either this is the most un-stealthy bandwagon in the history of SE, or I'm missing something...
  3. Gah. I am really annoyed right now. I had quite a lengthy post all typed out, then I had an internet blackout the moment I hit 'post', and it got swallowed. This is a short summary of what I typed before because I can't be bothered retyping it. Mage, Arinian. I'm not voting on any of the 3 main candidates because I'm frankly not suspicious of any of them right now. There was 5 hours of the lynch left, now 4, so I don't think a new vote will take off, but it at least gives the opportunity. Plus, the leading candidate for the lynch right now is Len, and if I did have to vote for one of the three, it would probably be Len, so there isn't any harm in voting to open a new topic of discussion. Arinian, I'm most suspicious of you right now - part gut read, but you offer very little reasoning, and you say that you agree with everything Len is saying and that you find Len suspicious in different posts, which I find very contradictory. Also, you happened to vote with Alv, who was the person who I found next most suspicious overall out of the people who voted. Alv, could you elaborate on your cryptic "I think Lopen has one of 3 roles" comment? Is this to do with the claim he apparently implied in the world PM? Do you mind elaborating? I have a slight suspicious read of you, largely due to paranoia, but I see no reason not to trust Lopen at this point. I originally tagged all 12 (now 10) people who hadn't voted here to try and get them to vote, but I can't be bothered doing that again. People who didn't vote this cycle- I'll be mentioning you right at the beginning of Day 5 to try and make sure you do vote next cycle. I know we don't have much to go on at the minute, but the only way to be sure we have more to go on is to get people talking.
  4. Gah. I've been changing my mind over whether or not to stay signed up to this now you have your 16 fairly constantly. Seeing as it's just 16 players (17 if I sign up), and you have 1 Diagrammist kill, 1 lynch, and 1 Cook kill each Cycle (and if you had one Cook kill, you'd probably need two to balance the SoH and the Ghostbloods against each other...), the chances of me staying alive through to Cycle 6 are extraordinarily slim. Even if only 2/3 of those kills are activated each cycle, and no-one is killed by the inactivity filter, I'd have less than a 1/3 chance of staying alive. So... I'll risk it. I'll stay signed up to this. I'll sign up as a cook... a scholar... a savvy homeless pickpocket called Velez.
  5. Hmmm... I had forgotten about you being roleblocked. You did mention that before now, which makes me more likely to trust you... And Len's claim ruins that train of thought that you were an intermediary for Sheep... I'll keep my vote on you for now, but I'm a lot less confident than I was a moment ago - I'll switch it when I feel I have a better target (and before you ask, Len, no, I'm not especially suspicious of Lopen ) And if you want to discuss something, I'm still on Nalthis. It will be good to have an active PM... Though there are a few other people besides me on Nalthis at the moment.
  6. I'd agree with the theory that Sheep held Devotion. Unfortunately, that makes last night more confusing, not less. Last night, a PM opened, and then was instantly closed, between just Mage and I. Mage, Sheep I were in the very first Devotion PM that was mentioned last cycle (along with Lopen and a couple others - they can confirm), and haven't had any particular contact since. I think it's likely that Mage and Sheep formed a trust group together, as I don't know why else Sheep would set up a PM between us, unless Mage was acting as an intermediary. As such, Mage is the one person who I'm relatively certain Sheep claimed to. And now Sheep has been killed by Odium. And now Mage has just responded - twice - without even mentioning the PM. So I'm voting for Magestar. I know people have said we can work with Odium, but Odium has killed randomly so far, so I don't think we can take that approach. Yes, they killed Jon, but so far as I can tell, that seems to have been purely accidental. @Magestar, care to respond?
  7. 1) You made it view only 2) What's the advantage of this over the Discord Chat?
  8. I'd like the spec doc to this, thanks. I hate to miss this, but I'm going away for 8 days starting with the 13th (so Cycles 6 to 10), so I can't make this work. However, Wilson appears to be very short in player numbers. I've waited a couple days to see if this changes, but it doesn't look like it has. So I'll suggest an alternative. I can't stay past Cycle 6 (well, I might be able to - I don't know what Internet will be like up where I'm going.) But the beginning of the game I'm pretty sure I can manage. And, by the time I go away, a lot of the people not signing up will be dead/under less stress and confusion in LG29. So, pending GM approval, I'd like to suggest I sign up partnered with another player who'll take over from me in Cycle 6. It brings the game an extra player, and this game looks like it really needs it, unfortunately :/
  9. I don't know what I'm doing still up at 5am, but I realized I never did get around to voting on Harambe this cycle. I don't particularly believe Harambe's claim that they've been preserved - I've lost count of the claims he's made so far. Hmmm... so someone new has the Threnody Shard - possibly a Hoidite, Odiumite, or... Automite? Autonomite? Dunno. Anyway, Straw, what was its Shardic ability? You only revealed its investment ability, I think. That's something we want to avoid getting into Eliminator hands. If they get the Threnody Shard, then they'd probably be able to prevent the alignments of a lot of people from getting revealed, which makes things a lot harder for us. New Ambition, can you please not use that Investment ability? If people don't pass on from the Cognitive Realm to the Beyond, I don't believe we ever learn their alignments, and it's bad enough as it is with a one cycle delay in learning alignments. Seonid, am I right that we never learn the alignment of a Shade because they never pass Beyond?
  10. Sorry everyone - the family Christmas celebrations went from what was originally one dinner, presents, a couple games and a movie to an overnight stay and a 2 day event... So I was out for a lot longer than I expected to be. I first saw this post very late last night when I didn't have the energy to respond to it, and I haven't read all the new posts since I caught up then. I'll try and catch up after I post this. Uhhh... I take it this is just a poke vote because you saw me watching the thread? I had my computer on, but I wasn't really watching the thread because I was busy with Christmas preparations at home, etc. Sorry that I'm only getting around to responding now. I was suspicious of Joe, but I feel the suicide plan for the end of Night 3 is something Village!Joe is more likely to do, so now I'm just confused. With Joe's revival, the earliest we'll get any solid information is with Jondesu's passing at the end of Night 2, and that won't even tell us much as they weren't lynched, only killed by an individual role. I felt Harambe was way too determined to return Joe, though, but I won't vote for him just yet, because they're new, and therefore both more difficult to read because of their individual playstyle and should be given a fair chance to get into the game before we kill them. My reads on Sheep and Lopen will change depending on Joe's revealed alignment, but I can't really say anything certain for now. Elodin, I feel fairly neutral towards, maybe even a slight trust read, because I think that if they were Eliminator buddies and Joe had been lynched, they could just deny they were invested and prevent themselves getting tangled up in the lie, reducing suspicion on them, especially from the 'real' Cultivation, if that wasn't Joe. Then, Joe almost certainly wouldn't announce the suicide plan if he knew a fellow Eliminator would be brought down with him once his role/alignment were revealed. That's all I have time for right now, unfortunately. I'll probably continue along this train of thought in a couple hours, or possibly later - I don't really know. Sorry :/
  11. I might join in on a lynch of Joe later, because I do have a bit of a suspicious trust read on him, but I'm not willing to make that call on Day 1 - I'd rather lynch an inactive (who hasn't provided an excuse, that is.) I don't know how many of those there are, but Assassin in Burgundy is first on the list that hasn't posted, nor have they posted an excuse that I saw, so I'm voting for them. By the way, I'm not sure I agree with all of your instructions, Joe. I'd like to respond post by post, but I think you're pushing for action and inaction on certain roles in the wrong places. Honour - I think you should select a Champion soon, for one thing. You don't necessarily have to claim to them yet, but you should collaborate with them at the very least. What else was there... Joe - you do realise the village needs to kill Odium, his Champ, Autonomy, and his converts in order to win as well, right? Also, Preservation can't self invest anymore Seonid changed that after what happened last time... I'm still skeptical of the Ruin blowing up Threnody plan, because I don't think it serves a purpose, particularly since your main argument to blow up a planet is dependent on the Shard taking Ruin at some point in the future, which is far from certain, and the village is shooting itself in the foot in the meantime. Mistborns and Voidbringers should probably wait to kill, seeing as they only have two charges and they'll have more accurate reads later. Also, a lot of your advice (e.g. Forgers, Feruchemists) is tailored towards PM stuff, which... doesn't work when you only have the World PM's or Devotions whims. Honestly, I thought we'd probably have similar views on how to play roles, but after that, I'm suddenly not so sure. I'll probably have to get my own guide up now... (Probably this Night Cycle or the next Day Cycle - I won't have time before the end of Day 1.) 3 - Agreed, but unfortunately, that's usually quite difficult to do conclusively. It's also less conclusive this game, because exonerated players are still at risk of conversion. 5 - Define 'non-threatening'? Everything, used properly, can be threatening to the Eliminators - that's why they exist. Also, even if you have a regular role, it narrows down those who don't, which is good for the Eliminator team. That's why people don't reveal. I promised RP this game, so I'll try and slip something in once every turn, even if it's just a couple lines. Unfortunately, I didn't realize the enormity of the timescale, so my original prompt won't suffice anymore. Serol is now a historian, tracing the steps of Vathir and others in the first Shardic War (is that the official title? No idea.) Character wise, he's a bit of a recluse, but with the return of Hoid, everyone's suddenly highly interested in his work, so feel free to interrupt him if you want awkward conversations to occur. Hoid has returned... Serol dashed up the stairs, furiously panting. The first Shardic War had been a dark time, according to all reports. People who wanted to restore Adonalsium publicly roamed the streets, spreading chaos and confusion, as treachery reigned, and the Shards turned in on each other, slowly devouring themselves. It was one of the darkest periods in the history of the Cosmere. And, God help them, it was about to happen again. Maybe not... For all we know, this could be a prank. A practical joke. But Serol didn't think so. And if he was right - if the Cosmere was about to be plunged into a second Shardic War... No-one wanted to live through that. So Serol did the only reasonable thing he could. He went to the library.
  12. I agree that we should reveal who's on what World PM - I'll reveal that Nalthis has Len, Arinian, Straw, and myself on it, but I disagree strongly that Ruin should blow up a world. Doing it randomly could prevent village actions, constrict information, and reduce Ruin's power and influence later in the game, which would be bad for the village if it does remain in the villagers hands, which is more likely, in my opinion. General advice to @Shards, I would advise you to pass your Shards over the next couple cycles or so. The 17th Shard knows you have them, so will probably target you. Passing it makes it that much harder for them to collect them and gain their sudden death win con. If you need to wait a couple cycles to establish who you trust, fine, but I wouldn't leave it off any longer than that. Luckily, there aren't any stacking abilities that could prevent passing Shards this game, so it's not as big a problem if you pass later in the game. @Devotion - if you have no other preferences, I wouldn't mind being set up with a PM eventually. Unfortunately, PM rules look a lot more restrictive for you then they were for me when I was Devotion, so if you can't or don't want to do this tonight don't worry about it - I'll try my luck later. Arinian & Stick - I take it you two know each other IRL? I'm assuming that's what that's about. Clarification for Seonid: If a player is in the Cognitive Realm for your second turn in the same Cycle, are you allowed to quote or summarize any/all info from previous Cognitive Realm Docs? If we are, then we should be able to keep up a constant cycle whereby all info is retained, provided you have 1 person at least each turn that reads the info and copies it across. I feel I have a lot more to discuss about roles, but I'm getting LG21 and LG29 muddled through my heads (I basically skimmed the rules for LG29, to be honest, partially just going off what I remembered from the previous installment to be the case. I'll do a re-read sometime in the next Cycle, and get specific recommendations for individual roles. Sorry I didn't hold to my promise from before. Oh. Also, poke votes. Hmmmm... RubiksCube. Welcome back! Have a poke vote.
  13. I'd like to post some kind of in depth relevant post - advice based on the rules, etc, for newer players, but unfortnately I'm about to head out in 5-10 minutes and I'm still not ready, so I'll have to save it for when I make it back. In the meantime, I'd like to put a poke vote on Arinian, before I go. (From memory, they're American, so if they log on this evening they should see it.)
  14. Hmmm... Eventually, perhaps? I'm going away on the 13th, but that was during Day 9 on the old schedule, and I thought the odds were against me actually *surviving* that long if the game even lasted that long, so I wasn't too worried. Delayed a week, it becomes the end of Night 6, which I'm a lot less sure about. (Don't let that influence you, though - wait to see what everyone else thinks...) If I don't pull out of signups, I might have to midgame, which would be a shame...
  15. Wait. Didn't your character get converted to an Eliminator accidentally by the Puppetmaster, and then get lynched? How do you intend to continue the story from there? Shame - I was looking forward to a Shard Zero meta-group Doc. I don't think all meta-roles are a problem, just a couple like the Stick and Puppetmaster were last game, which was a shame, because they looked really fun.
  16. I'd intended to wait and do some RP for this on Saturday when I have a bit more time, but I can see Seonid getting nervous about the number of players, so I'll try to put that a little more at ease. In LG21, I was Vathir, a Nalthian Rambleman. Now, in that game, Vathir inherited Devotion, created an awesome PM group (though Seonid might quibble with me on that one... ), died, was Returned, and then got converted by Autonomy, so I don't think I can just pick up that character again. Instead, I'll be his elderly tutor, trying to find clues about what happened to his young pupil. I think he'll start on Nalthis, which is where Vathir went at the start of LG21. Also, last time I played this, I inherited Devotion, created an awesome PM group, died, was Returned, and then got converted by Autonomy. That can happen - if you sign up. If you're sitting on the edge, I thoroughly recommend it. How often do you get to be a Shard of Adonalsium?
  17. If you get 16 or less players by the end of sign-ups, I'll sign up. I'm not overly familiar with the Elder Scrolls, though I kind of have a general idea of the setting, so I'll get back to you on a character. If you get more that 16 players signing up, I'll pinch-hit instead. NOTE: My summer holidays begin about the same time as this game, so if I'm more active, it's not because I'm an Eliminator. Don't lynch me because of that, OK?
  18. OK, I'm sorry if someone beat me to it, but I'm pretty sure we can work out which Expanses are which by comparing the Shadesmar map to the Cosmere Map. Here they both are for those who don't have them to hand: Cosmere Map: Shadesmar Map: So. We already know that the Expanse of the Vapors is the Scadrian Cognitive Realm from here. Judging by Mistborn: Secret History, this is a pretty accurate description of what the Cognitive Realm on Scadrial looks like, so it stands to reason that the others also provide hints as to what the other Expanses look like on different worlds. So. Here goes. Expanse of the Vibrances - Nalthis Have you ever not been able to work out a puzzle, and once someone tells you, you feel like an idiot for not working it out earlier? Expanse of the Vibrances? When you have a world filled with colour-based magic? Really? *sigh* I think we can all agree this one's pretty much in the bag. My guess is that this world is filled with colour, and the more invested it is, the more 'colourful' it looks, or something like that. I really want to see the Tears of Edgli in the Expanse of the Vibrances now... That could provide some interesting answers... Expanse of the Broken Sky - Taldain At first I thought this might refer to the fact that the World didn't follow the regular day/night patterns like a regular pattern, but Skaa had an interesting idea that could provide an alternate explanation, based on Glamdring's initial theory: that the smaller sun of Darkside is really a black hole, and that the Particulate Ring is really an accretion disk. That is... a very scary thought. And, depending on how the accretion disk is seen in the Cognitive Realm, you might have a giant black hole hanging over the sky on Darkside. If that isn't enough to make it a "Broken Sky", I don't know what is... Expanse of the Densities - Sel? This is the one I feel least certain about, but Nalthis, Taldain, and Scadrial fit so well... The Cosmere map has the Expanse of the Densities leading off into nowhere, though it could conceivably shift ~45 degrees towards the inhabited planet of Sel, because the Cognitive Realm is abridged where there's no consciousness. In fact, I was almost ready to write that off as an area we haven't seen, except for the fact that the Expanse of the Densities is 'a planet we've seen before 2011'. And we've now got Scadrial, Nalthis and Roshar covered, leaving only Sel. My only possible explanation for the 'Expanse of the Densities' is that Sel's Cognitive landscape was drastically changed as a result of Dominion and Devotion's Shattering, which is why Sel is 'tricky to get to' in the Cognitive Realm. (Though, I must admit, I thought I read somewhere else that that was due to the uncontrolled power of the Dor after the Shards were Shattered or something, which might disrupt that theory, in which case, I have no idea how the Expanse of the Densities fits in with Sel.) The other 2 planets indicated - Threnody and First of the Sun - are further away from Roshar, which is probably why they don't have a corresponding Expanse. Apart from Sel, I'm reasonably confident about all of these, and if I'm right, then that means we can begin to narrow down what makes Sel the Expanse of the Densities. Actually, another thought occurs to me as I write this - the Expanse of the Densities could be a clue for something in the future. (The Shadesmar map was relevant as of the period of time of the Stormlight Archives, AFAIK - which is a while after the Elantris trilogy. We have no idea what might have gone on there after Elantris and the Emperor's Soul. In fact, Elantris 2 and 3 contain Cosmere tidbits that Brandon doesn't want us to know until after Stormlight 5, IIRC, so it's actually quite reasonable to think that a Cosmere significant event might happen there.) So, what do you all think? Are you as confident about this as I am? Any questions? I kind of did this in a rushed half-hour before bed after a long week, so if this is incoherent at all, I apologize, and I'll try to fix up any confusion in the morning.
  19. I suspect it largely depends on the point. WayneSpren impersonated Delightful before (I'm not sure whether this is what you're referring to), but the real Delightful caught on quickly and was quite amused by it, as were most other people, and there was never any malicious intent. If they do so in order to avoid retribution, or to turn people against someone else, then that's not acceptable.
  20. Oh. Gah. Right. You put other peoples texts in like that. I see. My mistake *facepalm* I thought you were commenting to those people, not quoting them. Silly me.
