  1. Wyrm, can you confirm whether or not the Eliminators know who each other are? I thought they were added to a doc for some reason, in which case they would, but I might be wrong.
  2. I feel Wilson's post was directed at least partially at me, so I'll try and respond to it quickly before I head off to school: Wilson, maybe I phrased it wrong, and you're absolutely right. RP is an important part of these games, as they add to the flavour and worldbuilding of these games. But... I've never really considered RP as a form of gameplay to an exclusion of all else before like that. I'll make sure to send you a PM this night turn - if that's what it takes, it's a price I'll happily pay. Note that I wasn't specifically trying to pick a fight with you, just trying to get a few stats on a few people's thoughts/opinions, etc. If people change alignments later, it means they will probably either subtly try to shift their viewpoint and hope no-one notices, or else stick to their espoused viewpoint in thread and argue for it, to the detriment of their team. I've seen thoughts, opinions and analysis expressed through RP before, and I was hoping you could do that as some sort of compromise. I might try and do a Huxton RP to see if I can make Khaos 'interested' when I have time if no-one else does first. On a separate note, my activity should pick up tomorrow afternoon, after I hand in a major assignment. If I'm going to do RP in this game, tomorrow afternoon or Friday is probably the time.
  3. Hmmm... Straw. My response might have been unclear before, but one of the major (read: only) advantages that the village has in finding eliminators is that we can find where people have changed their positions from earlier in the game. Which is why, especially in this scenario, I think posting off-topic content without referring to the game at all shouldn't go unremarked, which is why I poke-voted you. RP is definitely better than nothing (I should be able to get do some RP after Thursday), but I'd still like to hear a bit more from people doing so exclusively. (Even if you RP that Khaos approves of a non-lynch, Wilson, that at least gives us a general understanding of your position. @Arraenae, I'm counting you in this group too.) In the interest of this, I'll say I'm getting some weird vibes from Wonko, and Mark, apparently, had the same weird vibes, so I'm not sure they're unfounded. I'd rather lynch an inactive this cycle, so I'll see how I continue. It's mostly a gut read, but I'll try and put it into words. You seem very... strenuous when making your arguments, somehow? Like you're deliberately overpushing your arguments a bit in order to emphasise "Hey! I'm a villager! Trust me!" But, as I said, it's more gut read than anything. So, at the moment, I'll give a friendly poke vote to @polkinghornbd, because I don't think I've seen them post yet. Welcome to SE, polking! Anything to say? Any questions you want to ask?
  4. Hauka as a proto-Radiant also jumped out at me - I think it's quite probable in future (except, meta-narrative wise, that places Hauka across the country from just about every other major character in the world, which makes them unlikely to be seen in anything other than the interlude chapters, IMO.) I greatly enjoyed it. Just in general, does anyone else think that Brandon's moved a lot more towards the lighter, comedic end of the spectrum with his works lately? It's just something I've noticed - going back, you've got Calamity, BoM, SoS, Firefight... You need to go back to Words of Radiance to get a novel that I would describe as more epic fantasy than light page turner. (Not that I have anything against light page turners - it's just an observation I've made.) Edgedancer's continued to follow along that path.
  5. Honestly, I'm not suspicious of Hael, simply because I think if he were an Eliminator, he'd make a special effort to sound exactly like he usually does - the fact that he has done something that's fairly obviously different actually gives me a slight trust read of him, even if I don't support the lynch on El. Since so many people have revealed what they found, I'll say I also found nothing, but I don't think it's a good idea to reveal what you found to the thread in future cycles if we do go exploring. Even if you do find nothing, it narrows down the search options for those who did, and we don't want to gain an awesome alignment scanner role just to have them killed the night they gain their power. I'll toss a poke-vote down on Straw, and ask him what he thinks about the strategy of lynching inactives, or else the idea of not going exploring Night 1 in order to stop the ranks of Eliminators growing. To those who did reply to my plan, I'm not ignoring you, but I'm only able to type out a quick reply right now (this is my lunch break right now), so I'll respond to your comments this afternoon.
  6. This guy is totally an eliminator - trying not to look fishy. Let's all lynch him. (No, that's fine. Welcome to SE.) Talking about activity and lack thereof, my activity will probably be... sporadic. I'll still be able to come online every day(-ish), but I can't really for extended periods of time, which... is annoying. Sorry about that. I'll still be able to send in orders, reply to things, but I won't be able to type up great long posts all that often (especially during the week). Sorry - exams are coming up in a couple weeks and teachers are ramping up the workload, plus other family stuff going on. Hmmm... tonights going to be important in that we discover roughly the odds of finding an Omen are. I'm assuming they'll be about enough that a couple players will be discovered on the early nights, and then probably less as time goes on and people start dying. So, tomorrow, ~2 out of 34 of us will be eliminators by my guess (assuming the eliminator team didn't start with anyone - is this correct, Wyrm?). A non-lynch is way too fragile to organize, and it sets us on a slippery slope, so I think lynching an inactive is the best of bad options. Also, if someone tries to lurk, then the lynching of inactives is a discouragement of that. If I go inactive suddenly, especially without notice of my expected return, I fully understand if you lynch me in my absence - it's not malicious on my part to leave, nor is it on yours to take the safer odds. Mark's plan is good further down the road, but there's just not enough evidence or enough eliminators to follow it through Day 1. So, Night 1 arrives. The question is - do we explore? If we don't explore, so far as I understand, Omens can't be discovered, so new Eliminators can't be created. We have the Eliminator we need to kill, and we can start exploring again after we kill them in order to get whatever we need to destroy the house. The only people who would go exploring are the Eliminators themselves, but if one of them sends in the kill action, only one person sends in an explore, so the odds of getting another Eliminator are quite slim. (Also, I feel like there should be some way to tell whether someone's gone exploring, because of the action limit, but I don't know.) ...And I've talked too long and have to go. Sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense - I'd intended it to be shorter, to the point and a bit more refined than it is, but oh well.
  7. Well, Assuming the "Main Character" is Dalinar, and the "Secondary Characters" are Kaladin and Shallan, then that leaves Adolin as a tertiary character, who only has viewpoints in one part of the story, maybe briefly in part 5. That said, I expect he'll appear a lot in the Dalinar viewpoints, so it's not as though he's being cut out entirely. In fact, plot device wise, Adolin provided the love-interest to Shallan, and the questioning of whether Dalinar was or wasn't insane in WoK. Now that we know that Dalinar's not insane so we don't need to question that, and that Shallan can VP for the Shadolin scenes, and now that Renarin is also more important to the storyline as a Radiant, it means that Adolin is kind of less integral to the story as a VP character. He can just as easily be Adolin throughout Dalinar's, Shallan's, Renarin's, Kaladin's and probably a couple other people's viewpoints as well, so that, essentially, is what Adolin's purpose is now. He acts as the glue that binds the whole SA together. He's the one that's tangentially involved in every plotline and character arc, and therefore doesn't actually need his own to appear a lot. So, I don't think the fact that he's not appearing much is reason for concern.
  8. Explorer - Vanilla Role Stink's Mysterious Neutral Role - No clue about what it's about. That's all I know of at this point. I think nearly everybody starts out as an Explorer, and when they explore, its the Omens and the... other thingy that start changing your role to make it more interesting? Something like that.
  9. I'll just quickly confirming that I've sent in actions to Explore tonight. I don't have much time to do much right now, so I'll have a more in depth look at the rules and see if I can come up with a strat this evening (about 8-9 hours from now.)
  10. ...Elbereth, that would be me that killed you. Sorry about that Honestly, it was because of your role. The Julii plan was just too effective, and 2 Eliminators and no Villagers were dead at that point, which is a trend I couldn't let continue, or I'd lose before there were 2 or less villagers. So I killed you. I was actually hoping I wouldn't have to seeing as you'd done so much GM'ing and not very much playing, but... I couldn't see any way of not killing you and still have relatively even odds of both sides winning. Besides. See it as revenge at last for LG23.
  11. You were killed by... a poorly thought out mechanic on my part and some poor luck on the RNG. There was one item, the Gonne, it would compel you to kill someone randomly if an order wasn't sent in (including, potentially, a team-mate). Darkness recieved it after Aman passed it on when he thought the Thieves were going to steal from him, and then didn't send in orders, first killing Luckat, his teammate, and then nearly killing Aman, another team-mate (in fact, I had, briefly, accidentally killed him in the write-up, before resurrecting him, because I didn't notice he jailed himself that night.) And then you, one of the only people left who's death wasn't actually useful to the Watch. But... yeah, that was a poorly thought out mechanic on my part. I failed to distinguish between a 'punishment' on the individual for not sending in orders to punishing the team as a whole, or other players in the game, which was a stupid move on my part.
  12. Death looked down at the streets of Ankh-Morpork, unblinking.* From where they were, he saw the shattered remains of the Monarch, beside the lifeless form of Luckat. They saw the burnt out room of the Patrician, and Pestis, plunged into a sleep he’d never return from. They saw blood run the streets as fires burned, and people fought and died, and cowered in fear. And they saw the people causing it all laugh in their victory. Once more, he descended into the fray, slowly collecting the souls of the dead. To his side, he heard a voice. “Did we win?” Death turned, looking at the figure. WIN? “The War between the Guilds? We reign supreme now. We won, didn’t we.” AND IF YOU WON. WHAT WOULD THAT MEAN? “Power. Wealth. Prestige.” The person looked like he was about to continue, but he stopped, recieving a sudden premonition that continuing might not be good for his immediate health. Death spoke very quietly. YOU PLAY YOUR PETTY GAMES, AND PEOPLE DIE. AND WHEN THE DAY IS OVER, NOTHING IS CHANGED. EXCEPT MY REALM GROWS THAT MUCH LARGER. YOU MIGHT KEEP STRIVING AND MANIPULATING AND GROWING IN POWER, BUT NO SILVER TONGUE CAN STOP YOU FROM GROWING OLD, STOP YOU GROWING OLD, STOP YOU FROM MEETING YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH ME. AND, IN DEATH, ALL YOUR PETTY GAMES, YOUR LITTLE WARS AND FEUDS AND PETTY SPATS WON’T COUNT FOR ANYTHING. THOSE PEOPLE? WHAT DID THEY DIE FOR? DID THEY DIE FOR SOME NOBLE CAUSE? DID THEY DIE IN ORDER TO MAKE A CHANGE? NO. THEY DIED BECAUSE OF YOUR PETTY GAMES. THEY DIED BECAUSE IT SUITED YOU. Death shook his head grimly, and walked away. This is the Discworld, where people die for any reason, or no reason at all. The rich, the poor, the men, the women, the old, the young, it doesn’t matter when the end comes. All will be greeted by Death. Most will be remembered fondly. Some will live to a ripe old age of 96, have 14 grandchildren, and die peacefully in their beds one summer morning. Others are taken before their time, harshly pulled from their world before their time, leaving only a shallow imprint of their former selves on the planet in what they left behind them, hoping to stretch that last moment out before they are forgotten forever. Some even succeed, for a time. All the great men will meet Death one day, same as any other, and they’re voice will be silenced, their pen stilled, as they fade from this earth. All that is left for us is to remember them, to read their words, to relive their memories, until, at last, our time arrives too, and we follow in their footsteps, as the world, flat or otherwise, continues to spin without us. *This was probably, in part, due to the fact that he had no eyelids. Or eyes, for that matter. On that high note, I'd like to congratulate the Night Watch and the Thieves Guild for their win. I'm glad I ran this game, broken as it was, because it gives me experience as a GM for the future, and I thank you all for abiding with my alarmingly frequent mistakes, both in mechanics and in enforcing them. My full GM thoughts will come later, but I have a bunch more things I know to do now (or, more precisely, not to do). The full list of player roles is in the GM spreadsheet below, along with all the docs. GM Spreadsheet (Apologies, the GM spreadsheet of actions is not entirely complete, unfortunately, though most of it is there. It was used as a reminder to me, more than anything else. Also, it looks like I deleted 3 columns from Cycle 1 accidentally, so I'll probably get around to fixing that up sometime.) 13. I definitely don't have time to play two games at once, and if I have any time left over, I can try and work out who's an Eliminator without playing as well, so... I'll spec this, thanks.
  14. Ummm... You just showed up two GM errors in one hit. Silverblade shouldn't be on the list, he died a couple Cycles back. Due to the inactivity and lack of impetus left in this game, I've talked it over with the impartial mod, and I'm considering calling the game. At this point, I'd consider it a tie between the Watch and the Thieves Guild. If anyone has an objection to this, then please say so in the GM PM, and I might change my mind. Otherwise, the game will end tonight. (Sorry for the late notice.)
  15. Ah, well, I don't think I can miss this, and LG27 won't go *too* much longer, so I think I'll sign up to this. I'll be Huxton, a well meaning fool that always seems to be getting in the way... Which brings this up to 34 players. 3 more players, and this is the largest SE Game ever. (Wyrm, you don't have a player cap, do you? If you do, then I'll step out if someone else wants to play, because I can't 100% guarantee that I'll be active for parts of this game with LG27 and then exams at school.)
  16. The unconscious figure of Pestis lay on the ground, confronted by a fearsome mob of one.* "He's sleeping on the job! Let's lynch him!" The street ignored him. "Hey, everyone! Where are you! This person needs to die." The cobblestones declined to answer. Finally, another player walked around the corner. "What's all the shouting about?" "We need to kill Pestis!" Kiwi looked down at the comatose Pestis. "Why?" "Because they're not doing anything!" Kiwi shifted uncomfortably. "All right then. It's not as though I have anything better to do." Darkness looked over. "Really? That's it? No bravados? No dramatics?" "Do you want my help or not?" Darkness sighs. "All right then." "Pestis!" Darkness shouts. "Defend yourself!" Pestis continued to snore. "He didn't say anything! A clear sign of guilt!" "What of, exactly?" Kiwi asked? "That's... er... um... Never mind. Let's just get on with this." And with that, Dankness and Kiwi stabbed Pestis, before returning back to their own beds. HEY, Death said. YOU'RE DEAD NOW. WAKE UP. Pestis responded with a long snore. Death sighed. WHY MUST THE SOULS OF THE DEAD BE SO HEAVY? he asked, dragging Pestis's spirit along behind him as he headed off into the distance. *There is some debate about whether or not a single person can be a mob on their own. Darkness said they could, everyone else said they couldn't. Darkness threatened to start a mob on the nay-sayers if they didn't agree with him, and in their consideration, he went back to his mob and led the charge while bringing up the rear. Pestis the Spider was lynched! They were Angua of the Night's Watch. 17. I'm doing my best to get rollover ready early (for once), so can you please send actions in as early as possible, and possibly inform me in the GM PM if you intend to vote at the last minute? Thanks in advance. There's just over 90 minutes left in rollover.
  18. Just to clarify, from this point forward you can send a Post Message for 30 pennies at night, or a Clacks message (which will be given to a Clacks worker at the end of the Cycle) anytime for 20 pennies.
  19. You weren't actually expecting any RP on time, were you? Aonar Faileas was lynched! They were the Post Officer of Ankh-Morpork. They were also a Monarchist! 20. Spoilsport Hmmmmmm... I feel like I'm obligated to put something here... Hello, all ye merry highlighters. I wish you a good day.
  21. At this point, I'm unsure whether I'll be playing or spec'ing - it will probably depend on where LG27 is up to by the time signups end. This looks like a great game though, and it's caused me to check out a new board game as well, which is a plus, so thanks!
