  1. Students get a free train/bus pass between school and home in Sydney, but they still have to pay a child fare (half price, from memory) the rest of the time.
  2. OK. Quick post, because I'm at the library now, because I wanted to post today and failed at the last library I went to due to outdated computers which wouldn't let me post (I've got pictures of what the new Shard looks like on Windows XP and Internet Explorer 4-ish, if there are any nostalgics ) Anyway, I see a choice between Conq, Aonar and Alv. I'll quickly assess each of them: Aonar: (this kept on changing itself to sonar... Now I understand why people hate autocorrect so much...) Aonar is possibly, even probably, an Eliminator, but they're not really a concern until Night 9, and he's probably the last one, whereas the Converts are a much more immediate threat with 1 kill and one convert a night. Alv: Maybe a Convert, maybe not... He denies being the Patriarch, though. I find it interesting that he claimed Miller early on, though, which isn't really a point in his favour. I can see Alv testing how people react to that claim if he was the Patriarch. People who would be most likely to trust that claim right off would be eliminators, as they'd already think, from there perspective, that Alv wasn't evil, so then he'd be able to get some data on a lot of the players. So I certainly consider Alv the Patriarch to be possible. Conq : The problem with Conq's story is this. Aman clearly described the Convert faction, as Eol must have related them, as Korathi, with Lopen, Rae and Alv in it. If Conq is the Patriarch of the Korathi, then that means that he either he's the Patriarch of the group Eol joined, in which case he's Evil, or he's making it up like Elodin seems to have done. In addition, we've already found a "Derethi" role in Burnt, so I doubt there are two seperate factions with the same name. So, I'm not fond of Conq's story. But the problem is, with each of these candidates, there is room for doubt. Aonar and Conq could be a villager, and Alv could be a non-Converted Neutral. There is enough room for doubt, and we can not afford to lose someone who's on our side. Which is why I think Lopen is a good choice. He's claimed a Convert role, and he's got a kill, so until we either get him back onto the villager's side by killing making a villager win seem plausible, he's got a kill every night that double the rate at which the village loses. Plus, if we kill him, it means that the Convert's sole means of killing will have to come from the lynch, which makes it a lot easier to find and catch Converts.
  3. Actually, I'll post something here so it doesn't get lost in the depths of Discord Chat... A lot of SE players also have Town of Salem accounts, so I've set up a doc. If you want, you can add your name to the list, and then other Sharders can friend you, maybe organise a Town of Salem game if there are enough of you online, etc. Here's the link to the doc. https://docs.google.com/document/d/10VkTQT51AOJUeMPbZ7EKRXVX1EuZarYjzcbTQ-qLE-U/edit
  4. Oh, you can start with any. I started with an LG, which is generally considered the most complicated of the 3. It's a lot easier than it sounds - you try to work out who the bad guys are, or, if you are a bad guy, you try to stop them finding you. Then the GM's (the person/people running the game) will add in more rules to make it interesting. For reference, you can check out the rules for both here and here. For the most part, I found the general rules quite intuitive going into it anyway, so it's not too hard, especially after you've played for a cycle or two (and a lot of what is there is more convention anyway. If you forget to put OOG stuff in blue text, we're not all instantly going to ostracize you or anything.)
  5. Heh. I was just reading through MR5... You've even got the lottery. And the jumper cables, which I loved the idea of when I first read it... Will Al Vron be commentating? Sign me up. LG24 has made me paranoid now... Are there any secret roles or alignments? I'll RP as a librarian that, after a knock to head, has forgotten how to read... I'll think of a name later... Good. Wilson can RP about 30 different characters with you...
  6. I am not a Jeskeri Cultist. If I had, then according to you, my action would have failed, and I would have guessed that you were a self-protecting Legionnaire, which would have shown the same result, or else something else entirely. But I knew that you were an Unknown Role, because my scan succeeded. If you believe I'm lying, then you can protect any one player from the Jeskeri tomorrow Night, tell me via PM's in advance, and I will scan them. Then, if a Jeskeri targets them, or if I produce an incorrect result, you can reveal it to the thread and lynch me. Until then, I think you're jumping to conclusions. It's more than possible that, even if a Jeskeri did target you, it was someone else entirely.
  7. Quick apology to Lopen. I had a PM typed out, sent it off, and the internet chose that moment to black out. To be fair, though, I was only giving you part of my win con anyway, so I don't suppose it matters too much. OK, the 2 big things to talk about is Aman's list and my trust in it, and what the existence of a conversion role would/could mean (and Len's post against me, as well.) Aman's list - I can't outright say anything on that list is wrong, but Aman's clever enough not to lie too obviously. However, there are one or two things that aren't known in thread which corroborate with what I've heard in PM's, so for the meantime I'm willing to accept that the vast majority is true, with maybe a couple lies in it. So long as we work out which is which before we do anything about it, then the list could prove quite useful. Conversion team - If there is a conversion team, then the village has basically lost. However, there win con doesn't make sense as a Neutral-Evil. Why do they only need to kill the Jeskeri? Surely if that was there true win-con, they'd just be plain Neutral? My guess is Aman lied, or at least took liberty with the Converts win con, to fool the villagers or just because he didn't know what the Convert's true win con was. Elenion's voting on me - Let me get this straight. You claimed Pirate. I say I don't believe you. You have a chat with Lopen, then come back and say you're not a Pirate, failing to provide any explanation why you claimed Pirate other than "I wasn't going to tell you the truth right off" (quoting a single sentence is OK, isn't it Joe?) Then, 10 minutes later, you claim Duke to the whole thread, meaning that there's nothing in that PM that I actually needed to respond to because you failed to provide any sort of additional explanation, which is why I didn't feel the need to reference it when I posted against you. I did not lie about any of this. If you can find one thing I lied about in that post, go right ahead and explain it to me, because I don't see it. If you want to lynch the liars, lynch yourself for claiming Pirate. I'm sorry I'm grumpy, but I thought we'd settled this way back on Day 2/3. I never really supported you being soft-cleared like you seem to be now by a lot of players, but I let it go because I thought arguing further would be beating the dead horse. I'm sorry if you don't have the same opinion about your arguments.
  8. I'm up to that point I always get up to where I usually give up on a story, just after the 'first ordeal' stage, about the 25,000 word mark. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a specific point when writing where it just feels like a slog to get through anything... How do you all get the motivation to keep going and to get past it?
  9. OK. Quick confirmation just to dispel any confusion: I scanned Alvron yesterday, and got "Unknown Role". The PM conversation with Alvron is a fallacy (in fact, I think Alv is the only person left in the game I don't yet have a PM with. Aman's basically certain to take the lynch now whatever I do, so I don't mind voting for Alv. I won't be on at rollover, so it's up to the rest of you to decide whether to tie the lynch or not.
  10. Well, there were still Charmanders alive when you first claimed Squirtle. I didn't believe you basically from when you didn't die that Cycle. Also, can you see why I didn't believe you saying "You all vote for each other and then attack me" when my special move was to instantly kill anyone who attacks me? (And votes for me, but that also kills me at the same time.) Aman. Bard would consider it a worthy sacrifice for an honorary Mewtwo to be placed into his (and Blanche and Ripple's) account(s) as the last survivor(s) . A worthy trade-off, I think you'll find. Of course, it will inevitably lead to his phone being stolen and being used as a macabre relic by Pokemon nerds, but Bard would probably be honored to have such an important place in gaming history. (I use a lot, don't I? ) EDIT: Wait - I was conserving my Dragon Rage when I had another defence I could have used afterwards? *groan*
  11. If it becomes a draw... Hrmm... Just in case this turns out to matter: Bugsy, Joe. EDIT: @Amanuensis, I know you'll probably only see this when it's about 1am for me, but what happens if everybody dies tonight? Do we all win? EDIT 2: I choose for it to have ended at the regular time.
  12. Alright, so everyone will die then, because I have a Dragonair, with Dragon Rage (everyone who attacks/votes on you will die). So, everyone will lose. This will be a fun write-up... Hopefully Aman will just let the last 3 people who lived a joint win seeing as there's no other way to distinguish it.
  13. (Sorry for the double post.) Apologies, I missed your vote, which completely invalidates my point. Let me try again. I have a Dragonair. You do too, I could tell from your plan. So, if you vote to end this cycle tonight, everybody loses. However, if you and I have Dragonair's that leaves Bugsy to have the Kadabra. If we extend the cycle, and vote Bugsy out, then the GM will have no choice but to issue a joint win, as neither of us can attack the other. You get to win with me. EDIT: @The Only Joe
  14. CYCLE AS IT WOULD LOOK LIKE IF IT ENDED TONIGHT: Joe (1): Bard Bard (1): Bugsy Joe -----> Bard Bugsy -----> Bard Bard -----> Bugsy Joe you have a 50% chance of dying by lynch, because you never voted for me. Plus, next cycle, you and Bugsy would both survive, unhurt, and it would turn into a brute force game of who runs out of HP first, which looks like you at the minute. CYCLE AS IT WOULD LOOK LIKE IF IT ENDED TONIGHT: Bugsy (1): Bard Bard (1): Bugsy Joe -----> Bard Bugsy -----> Bard Bard -----> Joe So, if I win the coin toss, then Bugsy is knocked out, and it turns into a brute force game of who runs out of HP first (which you claim is you at the minute.) But, if I lose the coint toss, then you have to do the same thing - facing a Kadabra that will confuse you every night until you die, even if you did die about how much HP you had. Fun. But right now, I'm the one that's going along with your little plan, much as it annoys me that I can't work out what you're trying to do...
  15. I wouldn't mind it being extended actually... you know, to keep myself alive and all... If it is extended, then Joe. Bugsy. And I'm attacking Joe to knock him out. This way, it will all be decided by the coin toss, I win. 50% chance, assuming Joe is telling the truth. If I lose the coin toss, it will go to another cycle, since both Bugsy and Joe will survive, if I've worked it out right. @The Only Joe, want to help me?
  16. By that logic, you would have to claim eliminator every time you were one, just so you could establish a reputation for revealing so you could use it at some point in the future. You would, essentially, lose 5 or 6 games for every 1 you win. What makes that 1 game more important than the others, anyway? And to say that you don't lie is ridiculous. I was there in Shard Zero when you claimed Neutral to Rae in order to get her to claim. I was there in QF16 when you manipulated the village trying to get them to lynch each other, using whatever lies and false analysis you could think of. And, if I were to ask El or Wilson, they could give me a dozen more examples. To say you never lie is a lie in itself. It's too easy to skate by and use your reputation as a get out of jail free card. I'm not going to fall for it. I'm not sure whether you think it's because Bugsy and I are newer players that you think you can pull the wool over our eyes, but it's not going to work. Not this time.
  17. Yes, it is easy to get caught, but it will be too late by then. I don't believe you'd have 1HP and then ask not 1, but 2 people to attack you. With three players left, you can win before we ever worked out what hit us.
  18. Or else the alliance breaks up, you perform a hammer last second, and lie about how much HP you have left. I'm not buying it, Joe. Aman, will you allow a joint win if the 2 remaining players won't attack one another?
  19. Well, to save yourself, you kind of need to vote... You have a 33% chance of dying right now. Ecth, I'm going to leave my vote on you. To remove your chances of being Eliminated, you need to switch your vote to Joe.
  20. I'm going to bed now, and I'm going to make my final vote in the morning, about 2 hours before rollover, as it will all depend on who Joe votes for, and whether Ecth changes her vote.
  21. Burnt or Lopen can confirm that I'm not the Philosopher. I claimed to both of them towards the beginning of this cycle. Silver Dragon. We have two conflicting stories, and yet 2 votes appear on Kipper compared to none on SD after the conflicting stories were heard (not counting Eol's, since they were retracted, despite Silver's original argument being fairly hypocritical, talking about Kipper's lurking (and I know I'm not one to talk this game either), which is a fairly common trait for Kipper, I understand. Don't get me wrong - I actually do find Kipper suspicious. But I find the lack of talk on SD interesting. I also wouldn't put it past the Jeskeri to use it as a distancing tactic to soft-clear one of their players. I think both of those players need to be looked at equally carefully. I thoroughly recommend everybody scan whoever isn't lynched, as I find them both fairly suspicious at the minute.
  22. I think you mean Bugsy, not Elodin. And @Bugsy6912 was on 3 hours ago. And I've been confused twice now. Once before Nyali died, and once Turn 6. Actually, I was thinking it might be you, Ecth. Although I'll help you swing it to Joe if you want.
  23. Sorry I haven't looked at this in a long time. You can claim the bay. Just a note- due to the floating island, the bay would likely be in darkness in the middle of the day. (This also would have the effect of keeping the water cooler than it's surroundings, leading to waves, currents and tides drifting towards the centre of that point. So it would probably be quite a stormy area. Also, anything in the surrounding bay, assuming it floats, would probably drift into the centre. Ocean currents really aren't my thing though, so if you want to investigate further, I'm afraid I wouldn't know more than that. I'll update the map this evening - I'm a bit busy right now.
  24. Orlok. This turn he'll be vulnerable - next turn he might be able to evade the attack again, depending on how many PP he has left.
