Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
hoidhunter replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Your Wednesdays are now 50 minutes longer...only for you...and your co-workers. Your bane...you lose the ability gauge the passage of time, and can't tell time anymore when looking at clocks. I wish for an in world quote or WoB verifying that a coinshot can push on silver... -

I always assumed that Ruin had a man's voice...the one I've been hearing for years is an elderly English woman...go figure... -
He's not a very memorable character in Mistborn...and he's practically invisible in WoR...I don't believe he makes an appearance in WoK at all. In WoR, toward the end, when Shallan is in the command tent, he enters the stage. I feel like Brandon was really trying to hide him. I am actually only operating on an assumption that he is the character who does something important....but when you think of him as a worldhopper, it seems like it has to be him.

Yeah...there are. I don't recall anything about them being unusually large or smart though.

You are now really, really good with names and faces...that's it. You become really, really, bad with metaphor and simile. I wish for one of the physical allomantic powers...nightwatcher's choice. -

But pot of god sounds amazing...I wonder if that's the name of the strain...or just god's herb of choice? Spoiler tags are like life.----------- Some of the universe's greatest wonders can be concealed within either. Christopher Walken is like Szeth son son Vallano. -

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY 17TH SHARD!!!
hoidhunter replied to hoidhunter's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Begorra!!! May the luck of the Irish (and upvotes) be with you all!!! Shamus Finnegan walks into church, drunk as usual, and climbs into the confessional. After a few mintues of silence, the priest pounds on the wall to get his attention. Shamus shouts back, "There ain't no use in poundin'. There's no paper on this side either!!!"- 9 replies

Silver is allomantically inert (coinshots and lurchers can't affect it), silver is more ballistically sound than aluminum, and it's addressed that aluminum is as expensive as gold...silver is usually cheaper. Granted. The thermostat on your general geographic local will go down when the sun goes down...it will once again get warmer in the morning... Your bane is that you will never give me credit for granting your wish... I with for an aluminum foil hat... -
by the way...upvote to our OP for starting a cool thread...

Granted...it's somewhere in Idaho. Enjoy. Your bane...from now on your normal body temperature is about 20 degrees hotter than usual. And I wish for a good explanation why silver bullets are not a thing in AoL era Scadrial. -

This is similar to something that I have often wondered... Like, if someone is wearing chain mail...do you see thousands of tiny lines pointed to each link? If you are standing near a giant fused piece of metal...like a vault door...what does the line look like? -

Granted...you do not have to return to class until 8 hours later than usual... For your bane, whenever you try to read something out loud, it comes out in spanish...even if you cannot read, speak, or understand spanish. I wish for a PM containing the most vulgar joke someone can think of... -

You can stare at both for like 20 episodes before they do ANYTHING... St. Patrick's day is lihe the Weeping... (I'm with you man. I always just wash my carrots and eat them with the skin on. It's (probably) healthier that way.) -

the most useless uses for useful powers
hoidhunter replied to king of nowhere's topic in Cosmere Discussion
as a full feruchemist/allomancer...make your own version of the BoM. Hide them somewhere no one would ever look. Then store the memory of where you hid them in a coppermind that is a large sheet of copper with a map on it that has an x somewhere really hard to get...that is not where the bands are hidden. Take the coppermind/map, and give it to a skilled treasure hunter, swearing that it holds the location of an item of power. Watch them get upset about not finding it and laugh. When they get frustrated and give up...take the map yourself and go get your bands. Give them to someone else in front of the treasure hunter and laugh some more. -
What's YOUR Talent?
hoidhunter replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
I used to have a room mate named Ashley...who we started calling smashley...literally EVERY time she got drunk...something got broken. And not the ordinary, "oops, I dropped my wine glass and it broke"...we're talking...once she tripped over a sandal while going outside and ripped the entire screen door off of out house. Another time she bent over to tie her shoe...lost her balance...fell over backwards...and sat on our small artificial Christmas tree, breaking it in half, and breaking most of the ornaments. These are only two of many occurrences. A few year later, I read my first Alcatraz book...I immediately thought of her. But for me...hhhhmmmm......my talent is...I'm really bad at telling stories. In world, this would allow me to accidentally reveal important information that should be outside my range of knowledge. It's bassackwards clairvoyance. example: Someone else: "How should we sneak into the enemy base?" Me: "Well, one time, my friend Ryan and I wanted to get into this party that we weren't invited to. So, before the party started, we called my other friend Sarah. Sarah used to live in the house where the party was taking place, but moved out last summer, because her boyfriend didn't like her living at a party house. Which is messed up, because it's like, "What, don't you trust her. I mean, If you trust her to go to parties without you, but don't trust her to have parties at her house, maybe you shouldn't be dating in the first place." We asked her what we should do...and she told us about a different, better party going on at a different friend's house. She told us where the different friend's house was, but she gave the directions to my friend Ryan, not me. So we went there, and it wasn't a party at all...it was a secret base. I told Ryan that he got the directions wrong...but he swore that they were right. So I say, "Well, if there his a party going on here, why can't we hear any music? And why do the people outside look like guards and have guns?" He said that we should just sneak in, and make sure there isn't a party going on before calling Sarah to double check the directions. I think he kind of had a crush on Sarah and would have been embarrassed to call her again, because she might think that he was a bad listener. But...just then...it was like 11:15 pm on the dot...we saw the two guards who were watching the back door run off to help a couple of workers who had just dropped a big crate filled with stuff off the back of the truck, leaving the door completely unguarded. So went up to the door and peeked in...and there was no party...it WAS a secret base. You'd think that Ryan would have admitted that he made a mistake...but no...We never did get to go to a party that night. So...anyway...what was I saying?" It turns out that the back door is left unguarded at exactly 11:15 pm...
