Well, Jackson was blinded by dollar bill signs when making this movie, so...

Actually, it is in 17th Shard's rules. So is necroing threads. Neither are allowed, though sometimes exceptions are made. For instance, it is preferred that you necro a thread than create a new one that discusses the same topic. Double posting is generally only excused when the user didn't know it was a rule, or a significant amount of time has passed since their last post, and no one else has responded (by significant, I mean on magnitudes of weeks or even months). Edit: I included necroing because that is another forum practice that many look down upon, even when it isn't in the rules. In this case, though, it is.

The speech was, well, perfect. I usually don't like to toot my own horn, but I really out did myself this time! She beamed with pride, trying to nod to Rainmaker on a job well done. Unfortunately, everyone else in the room seemed to want the focus off of the well executed announcement regarding the events of the previous night. Blossom frowned as the frustration on Rainmaker's face grew. Oh boy... "ENOUGH!" The Queen shouted, blasting the room with a shock wave of wind. Everyone in the room was thrown backwards, Blossom catching herself in the air using her powers and landing with her usual grace. She had to straighten out her suit top and skirt, though. A pang of fear shot through her as she turned to see her reflection in the mirror. Her hair was slightly disheveled, but nothing a few simple hand swipes wouldn't fix. She quickly ran her fingers through her hair as she looked around the room at all the cowering vanillas, her eyes coming to rest on Broadcast. Fool. At least he wasn't too obnoxious when we arrived. The annoying Epic rightly obeyed Rainmaker, never giving their ruler any grief. When Rainmaker had entered the room, the man had been on his best behavior, not a single wise crack escaping his lips, lest he risk mocking her. Giving us a hard time is something he knows he can get away with, but Rainmaker's a whole other game. "Now, let's proceed in an orderly fashion, shall we?" Rainmaker had begun speaking again, continuing to maintain her composure. "There we go. Blossom, is Buttercup already on her way? Go find out what's delaying her, and see that she gets here now. I wish to speak with both of you as soon as we are done here." Blossom turned to leave the room, hearing something about Gunsmoke on her way out. She quickly made for the entrance to the building, her heels clicking on the tile floor, pictures of Corvallis decorating the walls. Pulling her mobile out, she dialed her sister as she walked out into the rain, her umbrella unfolding in her other hand. The phone rang through three long tones before a click revealed the line had been picked up. No one spoke from the other side, Blossom instead hearing music off in the distance. "Buttercup?" Blossom waited a long moment, but only silence greeted her. "Buttercup this isn't funny, are you there?" A long groan came through the speaker, one that undeniably belonged to Buttercup. "Seriously, this isn't a game," Blossom scolded, "answer me!" The music in the background seemed to stop, which was immediately followed by a very fast speaking Queen of Security "Oh thank CALAMITY! Blossom, this is Buttercup. I don't have a lot of time so speak quickly!" Blossom had never heard Buttercup speak so fast. "What's going on? Why do I need to talk fast?" "No time for questions! What do you need?" Buttercup seemed frantic, her voice clearly strained. "Okay," Blossom paused, "Rainmaker wants you to report as soon as possible. We're at the broadcast station, though we might be leaving before you get here. There also seems to have been other disturbances." The music in the background picked up again on the other end of the line, and Blossom could hear her sister groaning once more. "Are you almost done?" The line was silent except for the music once more. "Buttercup!" Blossom yelled into the mobile. The response was a sigh, followed by the last thing she expected. "The problems I already know and I'm trying to go. Can't you see this is frustrating me?" Blossom pulled the mobile away from her, covering the microphone end, and laughed for a solid minute. Buttercup hated singing, and the fact that she was right now was downright hilarious. Composing herself as best she could, Blossom lifted the mobile back to her face. "Why are you singing?" Her sister's voice was clearly upset, no doubt at the fact that Blossom had just spent a minute laughing. "It's stupid Princess G.O.O.D. her power I misunderstood. Singing's what I must do whenever she does too." Blossom let out a few more laughs, not bothering to hide them from her sister anymore. A growl emanated from the mobile in her hands, though she didn't care. "Alright, well, listen then. As soon as your report is done, and you can get away, you should head over here. Rainmaker is beginning to lose her coo-" The call was terminated, Buttercup had hung up! Blossom opened her mouth to complain, but her voice was lost as a large plume of green light erupted from the north side of town, a small line of light shooting out of it. Well, just because she wanted to get out of there doesn't mean she can be rude! Buttercup hung up on Blossom. She was done with the report, and had received the news about Gunsmoke moments before Blossom had called. She scrambled around the canopy to find a report folder to protect the paper from the rain, and quickly scribbled on a spare piece of paper the words "YOU'RE IN CHARGE!" Gripping the sheet tightly in one hand, she walked up to one of the officers, tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention, and slapped the paper to his chest. Offering the officer a reassuring nod, she grabbed the report, stepped out into the rain, and took off as fast as she could. The singing slowly died off as she gained distance. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as the last notes disappeared. She took a deep breath of the moist air. Smells like freedom. She'd avoid that ever happening again if she could help it. Her mobile buzzed, a call from one of the officers. Buttercup answered to a frantic man speaking very quickly. "Queen Buttercup! The vanillas out in the fields! They're insane, not listening to anything we say, attacking and eating others! We need hel- AHHHHHHHHHH!" Buttercup listened for a moment longer as the man screamed, something else on the line snarling as it attacked him. She hung up when the screaming was replaced by a squishy munching. Not another attack! What is going on today? First this morning, then Gunsmoke, and now another incident? I need to report to Rainmaker first. Blossom tapped her heel as she watched her sister's approach. That's when Rainmaker burst from the building, Blossom closing her mobile to turn towards the Queen, a black limo pulling up as well. "Well? Any word from your sister? It seems our head of security is doing a particularly deplorable job of keeping the peace today, judging by how many messes I'm cleaning up for her. Let's get this meeting over with so we can all get to work. Char, see about conferencing in Cornucopia, will you? If there's a problem in her fields, she'll want to know about it." Rainmaker seemed annoyed. Blossom raised an eyebrow at the young woman behind Rainmaker, visibly trembling but nodding as she set to contacting Cornucopia. Blossom returned her gaze to Rainmaker. "Yes, Buttercup is actually on her way, arriving in a few seconds." She nonchalantly pointed north, the green line closing in. "It would seem she had finished her report just as I called, and had also just received word of other issues around town. I told her to come here first to speak with you." At that moment her sister landed a few steps away, green light spraying the ground around her. Always one for quick landings. Blossom rolled her eyes.

I'd highly recommend applying. If it winds up being the only job you get, you can then accept it with the intent to leave as soon as humanly possible. It's always easier to find a job when you've got a job.

Ever since I was little, I'd had a fascination with fire based magic. Not fire itself, oh no. I'm no pyro. Fire magic though, heck yes. It all started with Pokemon, and my awesome Charizard, but later grew into much more, with my interests branching into the Fire/Ice dichotomy, which then branched to the Light/Dark dichotomy, and so on. But Charizard was the start of it all, on the Pokemon Emerald VIP forum. It was a forum made solely for people who pre-ordered Pokemon Emerald, and it was the first forum I ever joined. Coming up with my username for that website wasn't my first time tackling the task of making a username (AIM accomplished that), but it was the first time that I'd be making a name to present myself before people I didn't know in person. So, after much deliberation, I settled on a name along the lines of CharizardLover1202, something like that. 1202 was my birthday, and Charizard had been among my favorites since Gen I released, so I felt it was accurate. While on this Emerald VIP forum, I made a few friendships, some of which lasted years, others only months. Regardless, one of the major events that affected me from that VIP site was another user inviting me to a different forum, one that was barely a year old and still didn't have a large userbase yet; GaiaOnline. So I joined a very young Gaia under the same username. Well, all good things come to a close, and eventually Pokemon Emerald released, and the VIP forum closed. I then pretty much dropped the internet, and as a result my Gaia account was left to rot. About a year and a half later, though, an 8th grade Blaze fell in love with a very fetching young woman in his Algebra class, a young woman who told him to join a forum site she used, GaiaOnline. Like all young men in love, I immediately set out to do what she'd suggested. Upon visiting the website, which had been somewhat overhauled, a tingling of remembrance told me that I'd been a member before. I struggled for a few hours to remember my old username, searched for usernames including Charizard, found one I felt was mine, and discovered I could not log in. It appeared the account had been closed. So I set to finding a new username. One which captured my essence, my very being. Alas, that didn't work, so instead I looked to the past. My Charizard based username had been born from my love of fire magic. I decided my new username would have a similar birthplace. After much thought, I settled upon Blaze. But, being an 8th grader with decent intelligence, I knew "Blaze" would be taken. Well, 16 is my favorite number, so I tried Blaze16. Taken. I was dejected for about 20 minutes. My compulsive tendencies retched at the thought of using anything other than 16, I just knew I would grow to hate whatever I picked if it wasn't 16. Then an idea dawned. It was like the rising sun, a brand new day, the beginning of a new chapter in my life. 16 might be taken, but what were the chances of 1616? I typed as fast as I could at the time (not very fast indeed), entering Blaze1616 as if it would be taken mere seconds later by someone else if I wasn't quick. It was accepted, and that new chapter in my life began with a BANG! I've since used Blaze1616 for, well, everything username based. Here on 17th Shard, GaiaOnline, reddit, etc. As the years have passed, other Blaze1616s have surfaced, such as the Blaze1616 on pof.com, or @blaze1616 on Twitter, neither of which are me. But for the most part, it's a safe bet. I even had my license plate read Blaze16 for my very first car. I've only had to come up with a new username one other time, though that's a story for a different day.

What's your favorite.... ? (Forum game)

Obi-wan never told you the truth about your father. He told me you killed him. No. I am your father. NNNNNOOOOooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooOOOOOOoOOOOOOooOoOooOOOOooOOOO! Favorite place for a picnic? -
I must say, the idea of an average fellow being a protagonist is intriguing, potentially overwhelmed by all the magical people around. I'm personally hoping Adolin fills this role in future SA novels, though that's a topic for a different forum.

What's your favorite.... ? (Forum game)

Little Fugue in G Minor by the master, Johann Sebastian Bach. Favorite time to eat? -
That's a possibility, though I've always headcanoned that Bubbles can see out of the bubbles she makes, regardless of size. I think I'm sticking with this: From outside looking in, bubble has blue tint, but is translucent enough to see through. From inside looking out, there is no tint. I'd like Comatose's thoughts though, as this power was originally his idea.

If Twilight Sparkle fought Steelheart, who would win?
Blaze1616 replied to WayneSpren's topic in General Discussion
Though I agree with your assessment of Kobold's arguments, I must say I find myself agreeing with Kobold. Were this fight made to allow Twilight the functioning Elements of Harmony, Steelheart is doomed. However, harking back to Twilight's fight with Tirek (spoilers of MLP season 4 finale below) Those are my thoughts. -

Also recall Shallan's interaction with Hoid in the novel. During the Middlefest chapter, when she first runs into Hoid in the tree, she looks back to Wikim in the carriage, and sees him doing the math problem she had brought him. Shallan doesn't feel that much joy in any of her flashbacks throughout the novel, if I recall correctly. Given the subtle hints Brandon has offered via the WoB Moogle provided, this scene begins to point towards Hoid flaring her joy as a pick-me-up, given the tone of their conversation.

Like I said, I don't remember. I'm perfectly fine with them being blue tinted, though my very first Corvallis post had Buttercup describing the sunset, which means the tint must not affect the sky when looking out from within the bubble?
-
Right, did I ever say the bubble was tinted? It was something I was going to bring up during Salem's creation, but I don't remember if I ever did. If I did, we'll stick with the bubble being visible. If I didn't, I'm not sure if I want the bubble visible or not. It really doesn't affect anything, except for maybe UV radiation, because who wouldn't want an SPF-35 bubble?!

A fan of the show Firefly, a cult hit television show that is crazily beloved by the sci-fi community, but viewership was rather low when actually airing and so it was cancelled after only 14 episodes (US television has 26 episodes per season). A few years later the studio Universal acquired the rights and made a full length movie called Serenity that brought the story of the show to a close (bar a few plot holes). Cancelling the show, to this day, the second biggest mistake to have ever been made on television (in my mind). To give a brief description without spoiling anything, the show takes place in a future where humans have colonized space, but the further from the center of commerce you get, the more lawless the planets become. At the far reaches, planet life is very similar to Wild West settings, while near the center features very sci-fi, high tech locales. Mandarin is also more spoken than English, as a fun fact and interesting worldbuilding implications. Oh, and toy dinosaurs, because everyone loves toy dinos.

Ah, thank you for the clarification, I really need to reread Elantris. Anyways, Raoden using the Aons still speaks to him being Elantrian. Given the Reod was only 10 years past, everyone in the room should have understood (except for maybe Sarene) what him drawing an aon in the air meant. It still spoke to him being an Elantrian, which is nigh impossible to fake (the aon drawing part, not the sickly skin part). I think we'll have to agree to disagree at this point
-
Honestly, I don't think it really affects anything. 9 miles up is about the height that planes fly, if not a little higher than that, and the oxygen that high is no where near enough to sustain a human. So the only real affect is that flying Epics can't reach the top unless they're near the edge of the bubble on the ground. Given this is the Fractured States, I doubt there are all that many planes flying due to lack of fuel, let alone lack of stable runways to both take off from and land at.
-
I'm still going to disagree with you. Now, it's been over a year since I last visited Sel, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but when Raoden tried to save the day, was his form not the Elantrian form? I thought it was. I do not think your suggestion of him appearing as he was prior to the Shaod would have worked. Perhaps him returning as Elantrian Raoden, and claiming to be the prince, would have worked better, but let's not forget that the group only realized it was him after Roial identifies him. I just don't see a scenario where Raoden revealing himself early would have worked without making the group seem incredibly stupid and inept at political maneuverings, a trait that they're all supposedly savvy in.

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!

Finding a job is a long, arduous, and painful process. My father searched for two years before throwing in the towel. You just have to remember that getting rejected is nothing personal. Keep your head held high, fair TwiLyght. We all have faith in you! -
Implying you yourself are not a Browncoat!??! You should totally give the show a watch. It's only what, 13 episodes and a movie? Even if you don't wind up loving the show, it's likely not going to be a waste of your time.

That turns "Astral Projector" a bit more literal!

I actually looked into this when Comatose and I were discussing the bubble's size. It's ridiculously high. Depending on what source you look at, it's either near the top of the troposphere, or near the bottom-middle of the stratosphere.
