Still Having a Bad Day? Exchange Your Rants For Hugs Here!
Blaze1616 replied to Silverblade5's topic in General Discussion
Do you have diabetes/hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia? If not, go see a doctor about them, as they cause headaches about the intensity you are describing. An ex of mine had hypoglycemia and we didn't know, but her headache was constant until she saw a doctor about it and fixed her diet. Though I would think that your diet would fluctuate enough during a year and a half that you'd have some periods of relief... -
Thanks for the edited image, but I think I prefer the "Do your part to help fill" versus the "Preserve Knowledge". I'll take the hit to my text length for it.

Leather-bound Edition of Elantris
Blaze1616 replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
To be fair the Emperor's Soul was a novella, and not a full blown fantasy novel. Perhaps I'm just worrying when I shouldn't, but I've always felt there were more than 1500 hardcore Sanderson fans that would be willing to shell $100 for something like this. -

1500 sounds like an awfully low amount. Guess I'll have to be on the ball when it gets released. -
I'm just going to use this space for a test post. Edit: There we go! Someone let me know if that image in my sig is too big...I have no idea how to count pixels...

Still Having a Bad Day? Exchange Your Rants For Hugs Here!

My mother is most likely moving out of state. This'll be the first time in my life where my mother will officially be unreachable in person. It's an odd feeling. I'm not sad, per say, but I do feel something. I think I'm more worried about her than I am anything else, as she's handicapped and now I won't be able to come help her if something happens. -
I agree with this post 100%.

The scooter, the obese person, or the obese person riding the scooter?

I really like how Snorlax is placed between two broccoli, referencing how he blocks your path between two trees...I wonder if it was intentional.

Mm, perhaps it's about living in different areas? The lefties in my neck of the woods are all very quiet about just about everything. All the major issues tend to have the left side drowned by the right; Global Warming, Economics, Abortion, Religion, LGBTQ, State v Federal laws, Immigration, Gun Control, the list goes on.

Waynespren, I did start a thread in either General Brandon or Cosmere theories to serve this purpose, but it ultimately fell through the cracks when I didn't have the time to wade through the days of video and audio necessary to compile the list. If you find that thread, Featherwriter links to another discussion of the same nature. Edit: Here's my thread

Buttercup streaked towards the fields. She'd had to stop by one of the police stations to gather some officers before heading out. As she approached, she could make out a helicopter, no doubt containing Cornucopia. The rain suddenly stopped, the beautiful Corvallis sky opening up above her. She took a brief, selfish moment to shake some of the water out of her hair as her mobile buzzed. She took in the contents of the message, glancing to the highway to see that there was a lone van moving along, heading towards the city. Buttercup looked out to the fields, watching as the plants moved, snatching up all the moving humans below. From this height, Buttercup couldn't tell which ones were rabid and which ones weren't. Dialing her mobile, she needed Chase's help. She needed to know who was in that van; Epic, vanilla, or one of those monsters. Blossom nodded as Rainmaker took her vapor form, slithering out the window to deal with the rogue Epic. Rolling the window up again, Blossom looked over the vanilla left in the cab with her. She let out a soft sigh, the sides of her mouth slightly rising. "You're a rather nervous mess, aren't you?" Blossom clicked her tongue as she shook her head. "You've shot up the rankings, there's nothing to be nervous about. Just make sure you don't screw up, or piss her off. She'll kill you then." Blossom cut off as the window separating the cab from the driver rolled down. The driver eyed her in the mirror before blurting "Blossom! I'm here! It's Chase, by the way. So, where are we going again? The mobile text didn't say enough." "Just the Queen I wanted to see!" Blossom pulled out her mobile. "First head to Rainmaker's HQ so we can drop off this one." She gestured with her head to the young lady she had just been taunting. "Then we'll head over to the broadcast station. I'm contacting Jumpdrive right now." She typed into the mobile like mad. "Thank you for the information Jumpdrive. This is Queen Blossom. Are our surveillance cameras set up with thermal imaging?"

That is...actually very much like it is here. Our left winged "patriots" are incredibly quiet, to the point that you can't ever be certain if they actually exist. Meanwhile, our right winged "patriots" are very much against anything not Caucasian Christian, believe that our current governing party have the deliberate goal to see the U.S. smoldering in ashes, and are overall just intolerant of anything that is different from them. Oh, and they're VERY loud. And about 10 of them are running for President, with elections next year.

I completely agree. I'd still like to try, obviously, for myself and other Sharders who can't attend. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks. Like I said, sitting next to the man himself really doesn't matter, I just really want to record the event for everyone. And Airplane mode is something I didn't think about. My phone is almost always on silent anyways, but that's a really smart idea. Anyone have a recommended Android app for recording audio? I don't think my phone comes with one automatically.

As far as I can tell, I will be the only Sharder to attend the signing taking place in Lansing, MI. As such, I'd like to record the session for the benefit of WoB hunters everywhere. The thing is, I don't know how... First, what device to use? I know many of you use your phones. The issue is, my phone is a Nexus 4, and as such does not have any external memory, leaving me with a measly 8 GB, of which less than 1 is currently available. So if I am to use my phone, how much space do these recordings often take? I am more than willing to delete crap from my phone to make the space, but if the files get too large it might just be better for me to buy a recording device. Second, how do I approach Brandon/Peter? Do I email them via the contact form on Brandon's site? Do I PM Peter? Tweet them? Simply approach them at the signing (my nerves might get the better of me here)? I know in the past Sharders have been allowed to actually sit next to Brandon. I imagine this won't happen, which I am perfectly okay with, but knowing what to do would be greatly beneficial. Thanks for any help!

Blossom eyed the main Queen of Corvallis. Skinsaver? Over me? A heat of anger brewed in her chest alongside a cold disappointment. She managed to keep both emotions from her face, choosing instead to focus on the task she was given, finding this Insight. Her brain began buzzing. Both invisible and incorporeal? How am I supposed to find him? Being invisible means camera's won't see him, and incorporeal should mean there's no heat signatures either. Blossom's thoughts were ripped away when the door to the moving limousine opened, wind whipping at her hair. A jolt of fear ran through her as she shot a death stare at the one who opened the door, her sister. Buttercup nodded to Rainmaker as she said, "You got it. I'll keep you posted of any major updates." Buttercup then offered Blossom an apologetic smile before sliding out the door, flying alongside the limo to close it before taking off. Blossom immediately pulled out her brush, running it through her hair. "Insufferable..." she muttered under her breath. Once her hair was fixed to a tolerable level, she gave a glance to Rainmaker. "I do have one question." She paused as she put her brush away. "Do you know if our city surveillance is equipped with thermal imaging?"

Eh, it kind of depends. A lot of elementary schools do it (Kindergarten through 5th/6th grade). I haven't had to say it since then. It's also been getting a lot of attention recently for the "Under God" phrase, which was added in the '50s to combat communism...somehow. I suppose the US thought all communists were atheist freaks. Anyways, as a result of this some schools have stopped saying it, others are allowing students the right to choose whether they say it, and others are forcing their students to say it under threat of disciplinary action. It would probably get talked about more if the whole legalization of gay marriage and racial equality issues weren't such firestorms here in the good ole' States. Note to avoid hurt feelings: I am an atheist.

Revenge of the Sith wasn't very good either, to be honest. It was flashy. Flashy shouldn't be the only thing that makes a movie good. For those of you commenting that you don't understand the hate for the prequels, I highly recommend watching the Mr. Plinkett reviews I mentioned above. It won't explain all the hate, but he breaks down each of the movies in a very interesting way, and does a fair job of pointing out many of the flaws. Be warned, though, outside of their extreme length (he truly does break them down), there is quite a bit of adult language, as well as adult jokes (not many of the sexual kind, though). Anyways, as someone who does heavily dislike the prequels (the word hate is reserved solely for Phantom Menace), I found myself greatly agreeing with much of what Mr. Plinkett pointed out. For your ease: Mr. Plinkett's Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Review (This one unfortunately is a playlist of videos, not one single video)Mr. Plinkett's Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Review Edit: Spelling

It's a catastrophe.

Have you tried befriending one of them? I've found that programmers actually like programming, and enjoy helping those of us less skilled in their art.

As usual I agree with everything you've said. I added the disclaimer to communicate this with the "But you haven't played since Gen II" line, though it seems to have been a failed tactic. Whoops. And Vanillux isn't that bad. Doesn't hold a candle to Magneton, of course, but most Ice types seem bad compared to Steel types.

But...but...so many Herald theories...so few answers...so much time...

I thought of another one. This one truly grinds my gears. Telling me you're a Pokemon fan. But you haven't played since Gen II. And you think all the Pokemon that have been created since then are "trash," "stupid," and/or "a waste." ...So then you're not a Pokemon fan, you used to be. Disclaimer: I really don't mind when people tell me they dislike the newer Pokemon. I very nearly disavowed Gen V myself. And of course, enjoying the older games is fine. But don't insult the newer games when you haven't played them, or even given them a chance. And don't be hypocritical about the Pokemon. Saying "It's just three ice cream cones put together!" is not a good argument when Magneton, a Gen I Pokemon, was just three Magnemites, or Dodrio was just a Doduo with an extra head. Saying "It's just a pile of trash, they couldn't think of anything better?" is not valid when Gen I had Grimer and Muk, literally just globs of ooze. Edit: Disclaimer 2: Being a fan of the original games, while having given the newer games a try and deciding you dislike them, is completely different than what I was trying to describe above. Sorry for any confusion/frustration/irritation.
