How to defend against shard plate, shard blades, wind runners, ect.
Triasmus replied to RJWB0mb's topic in Stormlight Archive
I believe that the only thing szeth could do with the projectiles without actually touching them is make the wall or a torch or whatever a grivity well, but isn't that the most expensive way of using his abilities? And if szeth (or any other windrunner with a shardblade) really wanted to get somewhere, they could just cut out huge chunks of stone from the wall and then lash those blocks away from the wall. There'd be no need for him to go down a long corridor with bows/crossbows/ballista pointed at him. -
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more really needs to be said.

Well... the friends' loyalty might have stopped them from being pains to Rashek, and then Rashek would be stronger than any of the children (well... he'd also be stronger than any of his friends because of his feruchemy).

Odium killed off Aona and Skai a long time before Harmony came about. Odium's goal is to be the most powerful entity in the cosmere without changing who he is. Picking up any more Shards would make it so he can't meet that goal. He doesn't care, at all, to reunite the Shards. And as far as I know, there aren't any Shards waiting to be picked up because Odium Splintered the ones he killed (unless there's a so far unexplained way to un-splinter a splintered shard. I think that we don't even know if Adonalsium can be fixed, but I don't know for positive).

I also think that One's actions will start to change One's attributes/beliefs/whatever. A bad guy might decide to start doing honorable actions to fool spren/people/God(), but their honorable actions will start changing who they are as person until, eventually, they do honorable actions because of who they are instead of because they're trying to fool somebody. Of course, Telcontar might be right in that surgebinding doesn't necessarily come with only the good half of the ten attributes. Maybe there's a dishonor spren o.0
-
Agreed! There's always the chance that BS will change it to how it should be (probably without realizing that he's changing something...)
-
I thought Rashek was able to use allomancy because he ate lerasium (and lerasium allomancy is the most powerful). Please correct me (with quotes ) if I'm wrong.

I have to agree with Telcontar. You are how you Act. I see no possible way how that statement can be refuted. EDIT: Nevermind, I'm going to agree with all of you (I think, there's a chance that I'm agreeing with none of you ) when I say you are how you Act. How you act defines who you are, with the more recent actions given a bigger slice of the definition pie (a single action will still be way small, I'm just saying yesterday's actions define who you are more than an action ten years ago). Spren are attracted to you depending on how tasty your pie is . There are many ways to be brave. It seems as if everyone is telling him that living by the codes is stupid. Is it not a form of bravery to resist peer pressure? I don't think I'd call bravery his defining attribute, but I would call him a brave person.

This whole theory makes sense to me. I'm willing to espouse it .

Ooooo. This isn't exactly on topic, but I decided to post it anyway. I kinda like this part of the last BS quote Unless he's referring to how Vin was able to burn the mists (which it seems like he's not), I'd be really interested to see how the spiritual or cognitive or any other "interpretation" of allomancy works (along with the other magic systems, for that matter).

Eh..... I'm gonna have to go with Inevitable in the recent discussion with Aiken, but against him on the "life shouldn't be a surge" platform. I can easily see life being a "healing" type of surge. Like what was already said, Brandon did say that the magic systems all have similarities. There's illusion magic. One could argue a not-very-well-thought-out-argument that the pressure surge and steel/iron p-ing are closely tied together. More examples that I'm sick of trying to think of. There's all the healing in the other systems, and I don't really think that transformation would be very good at healing at all. ooooo, I wonder if there's some type of "command" surge, like with awakening... oh, and with how I think of sound and noise ( a vibration of air molecules caused by "something" that one's ear can (not does) translate into something recognizable [can be translated into something recognized as "noise" ]), a tree falling in a forest does make noise/a sound.

Well... they could have have told everybody that they were going to go and dump all the shards in the ocean .

Demoux using some old spike just doesn't sound as good as him always having a part of his dead wife/girlfriend with him. EDIT: I got the top of the page again .
-
He fell in love with a terriswoman? What if for some convoluted reason, she was a feruchemist and then got spiked to give demoux atium feruchemy? Maybe she was dying and was like "hey, I can give my love part of myself. It might as well be something that will benefit him... I know!!!! My atium powers . Then he'll be able to help Sazed for a very long time and always have a part of me with him. It's win-win (for me and Sazed at least, don't know how my love will take to having a constant reminder of me after I'm gone... oh well )" EDIT: and sazed can use his godlike powers to give as much atium as is needed. (and it'd be like cutting out a tumor, since atium is part of ruin... this situation is a true win-win... maybe)
-
Of course it does!!!

It seems like brandon was quoted saying something like all the magics are basically the same, they're just used different way. for example, illusion magic will happen basically the same way for every magic. lightweaving is illusion magic. if there's radiant illusion magic it will be basically the same as lightweaving, just through honor. Soulcasting and aoning () food from garbage is basically the same, they're just through different shards. EDIT: and there's a good chance elantrians don't talk to cognitive aspects to transform things.

Top post on this page says Demoux is confirmed to be in WoK. and apparently he's not allowed to die because of promises made. EDIT: nevermind. top post on last page. Somebody posted before me

The gems are rechargeable. The gemhearts are so nice to have because bigger gems crack a lot less easily and they're able to do more. and to the post above me, it did say that somewhere in the book, so you can get past your feelings .

We don't know for certain if the orders besides Kaladin's draw in stormlight. I read somewhere on here that the possible reason of why Kaladin "inhales" the stormlight is because his body focus is Inhalation (and my own thoughts: maybe increased speed/healing/strength is a byproduct of having the stormlight in you, like becoming mistborn is a byproduct of eating lerasium). I'm in the boat of 1 and 4 being normal shardplate awesomeness and 2-3 being normal Dalinar awesomeness.

It doesn't sound to me like the letter was written back in the distant past. The letter was only referencing the last very major event (odium killing and shattering two shards).

I did not know that the Valley is on the map. Thank You. I still stand by my assertion those are the only valleys mentioned though (I think I asserted that ). I don't have permission to visit the link in the previous post (and it's not something on my end). PS wow. Odium joined on the 2nd and he already has 131 posts.

WoK Unflushed out theories (spoilers WoK, MB)
Triasmus replied to tipbruley's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I personally don't think we have enough to go on to even begin to think about how the Shin are going to turn out. Szeth as truthless isn't allowed in the Valley of Truth (or he's not allowed in the Valley, and therefore he's truthless. Which came first: the Chicken or the Egg?). There's a certain quote that I don't really want to find (it's in the "Several Theories" thread though) that leads me to believe that the Shin call Shinovar the Valley of Truth, but the Valley might just be within Shinovar. And having Szeth rampage across the world is probably something that they wish didn't happen, but is a "necessary evil" because of his powers or whatnot. Sorry. The previous paragraph doesn't feel like it flows how I wish it would, but I don't want to fix it. -
Szeth said that the Stone Shamans would retrieve his Blade if he died.

I'm pretty sure he only talks about seeing the spren in mirrors
