  1. I can see where you got your interpretation. I don't share it, but I can see where you're coming from.
  2. Yeah. Brandon has been consistent about not confirming or denying whether any given character is going to survive, and about making it clear that characters can die before their flashback books. Lift and the other back five characters could all be dead before the back five. I don't think any of them is likely to die before then, but Brandon has surprised me before.
  3. Nobody said she is or was scared of Adolin in particular. She's scared of what would happen if she let people in general see the real her, and if they knew about how she killed her parents. Adolin has begun to convince her that she can show at least some of her real self, behind the masks, and he will accept her. She's still not fully convinced she can be totally open with him, but I think she's moving in that direction.
  4. I'm getting really tired of people claiming Jasnah is a sociopath/incapable of empathy because she's not and claiming that she is is a gross misrepresentation of the character.
  5. I enjoy Dalinar's point of views but I don't feel the need to track which characters get the most sheer word count because it doesn't really matter that much, it's the emotional and plot impact that matters and Dalinar has plenty of that.
  6. yeah, I think Jasnah used her Shardblade like, once, in that battle. Granted, I would not be at all surprised if she did have some training with the Blade, but it's not her primary weapon.
  7. I think you might be better off giving Kaladin some axehound puppies rather than an actual puppy, given his reaction to horses. Rosharian animals may be weird to us, but they are familiar to him.
  8. Obviously he does have a birthday, and it would be in the Yolish calendar, and that's a question everyone would like to know the answer to.
  9. I think negative self-perception is one of the things therapy is designed to address. And, healing in general doesn't seem to interact with mental health at all anyway.
  10. I don't see why psychotherapy/CBT/whatever therapy techniques wouldn't work, even if Stormlight messed with medication. They wouldn't have the materials or technology to produce medication the way we do anyway.
  11. Kaladin doesn't want a horse. I'd give them all materials on self-care and mental illness. Pretty well all of them need it. I'd give Jasnah books on philosophy, she'd probably enjoy them.
  12. The Dawnshards or at least a Dawnshard was described in an epigraph as being able to 'bind creatures, both voidish and mortal' which doesn't sound like a Lanceryn to me.
  13. To be fair, we don't really know a lot about Timbre's actual personality, other than what we can extrapolate from Venli's observations (and the fact that she apparently ditched her job in Shadesmar to go looking for a listener bondmate). She hasn't even had any proper lines. But yeah, Brandon's said he replaced Eshonai with Venli because a character that starts out more deeply flawed was more interesting, and I can definitely see the logic in that.
  14. I am already on record as being 100 percent on board with Rlain as a Bondsmith. Yanagawn as a squire and later Edgedancer in his own right would be interesting, to be sure though we don't know that much about him as a person. I also think Rysn could be a Willshaper (though if it does happen I'd like it to be WITHOUT healing her disability).
  15. Most spren have VERY limited ability to affect the Physical Realm directly.
  16. Yeah, Navani has been widely speculated as a future Bondsmith, personally I don't like that idea so much as many other people do, because I think the Bondsmiths should come from disparate cultures in order to help unite different people, and having two of them be a married couple is redundant. I could see her as some other kind of Radiant though, and Willshaper seems like a decent guess.
  17. It's unlikely to have been due to the death of a bondmate, as Syl only had such a hard time because she was very young at the time.
  18. Yeah I think it just got cut for lack of space. It's unfortunate, but the book was already ridiculously long so stuff had to be cut.
  19. Well, I like what I've seen of your writing :)...but we digress.
  20. He's written about resisting the temptation to do things that hurt the story purely for shock value, so I think he's well aware that doing things just for shock value is often a bad idea and annoys a lot of people.
  21. That depends on how much Stormlgiht he has, versus how much Stormlight she has.
  22. I think there's good odds Dalinar will end up Ascending. I do understand the concerns that it might be too similar to events in another series, but I trust Brandon to manage to make it not feel like a rehash of previous things he's done.
  23. I mean yes, the pressure had to persist for narrative reasons, but the question is what is the in-story reason?
  24. The epigraphs imply that the increased pressure was something the Sibling did,
