Nah, Kaladin respects Dalinar and would be pleased for him.

What you don't want from the next book?
CrazyRioter replied to MistboreD's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think it would be cool if she became a Radiant but remained disabled due to having accepted her injury as part o her identity. -
I kind of suspect that Oathbringer is an honorspren, given that reaction to keeping oaths and protecting the bridgemen. Which would make that scenario even more interesting.

He's gonna revive Maya! Which I think is a super interesting story, and I also feel like a deadeye being revived is something that needs to happen because I feel like there was more going on with the Recreance then we know about, and because it would be a huge game changer for relations between spren and humans.

I strongly hope it doesn't. Personally, I think Moash is gonna be Odium's Champion.

Yeah Elohkar was weak-willed and easily manipulated but he was not fundamentally a bad person and he was trying to do better. Sadeas was a scheming self-serving cremhole who cared for nothing but power. and didn't care that the game had changed.

Adolin - Dancing on the Edge of being an Edgedancer
CrazyRioter replied to Ixthos's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't really understand the objections to Adolin being "special". We have a lot of major characters who are "special' and unique in-world. Kaladin is the first Windrunner in centuries, and Syl is particularly important in honorspren society, Dalinar is a Bondsmith, and has displayed abilities that previous Bondsmiths have not as well as having received the personal attention of two Shards. Szeth has been treated as Nale's personal protegee, and seems to have been somebody important in Shin society before his exile, and he's currently the custodian of Nightblood. Venli is the first ever singer/listener Radiant. Renarin is bonded to a corrupted spren. Litt has a unique ability that no other character has or as far as we know has ever had. Main characters tend to be 'special' in some way. I know some people are attached to him as the " token normal", but I don't think he can both stay in the main cast and be a token normal. He's simply too outclassed by the dangers they are facing. This is not a series where you're going to get away with having a token normal that maintains a prominent role in the main cast. I think Navani's role as of Oathbringer is the closest you're going to get, and Adolin isn't suited for planning/organization. The only non-direct combat role he'd be really good at is teaching Shardblade use, and that, while certainly important logistically is going to be largely a background role. -
I absolutely agree with this. If there was a way to deal with him within the system of the society that would have been the way to go. But he'd repeatedly dodged responsibility for his actions through abusing his position within the system, and was effectively immune from legal consequences. Sometimes you just don't have a 'good' option and all you can do is go with the least bad one.

Revived shardblades become what exactly?
CrazyRioter replied to beantheboy12's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'd still rather he revive Maya essentially on his own (with advice/pep talks from other characters) but I'd rather Sja-anat be directly involved than Dalinar actually, because that would be an interesting scenario. -
Jasnah will be a bigger POV character in the back half. Also, Kaladin should have the Edgedancer or Truthwatcher honorblade if he gets one, he'd love having access to Regrowth.

Revived shardblades become what exactly?
CrazyRioter replied to beantheboy12's topic in Stormlight Archive
I believe we've been told that the Dustbringers would approve of stabbing Sadeas, but I don't really see Adolin as a Dustbringer currently, despite his temper, he's generally too nice to attract a spren that 'likes to break things'. And I would expect Maya to be a normal cultivationspren if she is revived because I don't really see how she'd end up as anything else. That said, it seems like Syl may be unusual by the standards of younger honorspren due to the newer ones' creation being influenced by different ideas of honor, I wonder if Maya might be a little unusual personality wise compared to modern cultivationspren for the same reason. -

She was depressing, but it was well written. And I expect her to be less depressing in the next book. Maybe. -
Revived shardblades become what exactly?
CrazyRioter replied to beantheboy12's topic in Stormlight Archive
It doesn't mean you are a Radiant. I do disagree that Adolin doesn't keep to the oaths to some extent, and I think that's why Maya is showing some signs of life. In order to revive her he'll have to swear the oaths (at least that's my opinion) and thus commit to living by them. -
Adolin - Dancing on the Edge of being an Edgedancer
CrazyRioter replied to Ixthos's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Adolin is a more complex character than some people give him credit for and I expect book 4 to bring his complexities and hidden issues to the forefront, we see a bit of that in his PoVs in Shadesmar, with his worries about being useless, an that he was only ever useful because of his Shards, and not in his own right, and I expect finding out what really happened to his mom will put further strain on him, plus the fallout from it becoming publicly known that he murdered Sadeas. I see lots of opportunities for growth with Adolin, as he revaluates his relationship with his father, and with his society, and I think that Maya will play a role in that, because you don't tease something like that like what happened at the end of Oathbringer and then do nothing with it. It'd be bad writing. Brandon likes to put his characters through the wringer and have them come out stronger (if they survive), and that's what I see happening with Adolin. -
Adolin - Dancing on the Edge of being an Edgedancer
CrazyRioter replied to Ixthos's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't see Adolin as reducing Shallan's issues to something 'easy'. He will be a support for her, but that's how a good relationship works. She will still have a lot of work to put in to get better. I'd rather see Shallan with somebody who helps her deal with her issues, rather than somebody like Kaladin who I feel would exacerbate them. (This is not a diss on Kaladin, I love him, but he and Shallan would be terrible for each other.) -

We know that oaths are open to interpretation, so what I think Ishar did was create an organization that would train its members to interpret the Oaths in ways that were productive and conductive to co-operation, and as @Goatbringer pointed out even that wasn't a perfect solution. Currently we are seeing the results of NOT having a cohesive interpretation of the oaths , i.e. Surgebinders working at cross purposes, as Nohadon complained about in that one vision.

If Maya revives, will she be the same?
CrazyRioter replied to Invocation's topic in Stormlight Archive
A Radiant could become a Savant by Surgebinding a lot, because they are channeling a lot of Investiture, but summoning and dismissing a blade, either living or dead, does not require Stormlight, nor does cutting things with them, so it's safe to say that using a Shardblade isn't channeling Investiture in a way that would create a savant. Also, we know Adolin picked up his habit of summoning and dismissing the Blade repeatedly from Dalinar, who had his Blade for like more than twice as long as Adolin has had his, and he never experienced anything of this nature with it through all the time he was bonded with it. -
Favorite Type Of Spren (or maybe envisioning new types)
CrazyRioter replied to AngryMistspren's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm definitely interested in the Sibling.I personally hope Rlain bonds them, but I'd be okay with Rlain ending up bonded to the NW. I just don't know how that would happen currently. I just very much want Rlain to be a Bondsmith. -

There's been some speculation about Dalinar doing something like that with Adolin and Maya to heal her, but I'd personally rather it not happen like that. Also I think nahel bonds are too much about the individuals involved to be created 'artificially'. -

I don't want to see a Moash redemption arc. Moash had his chance to redeem himself, he threw it away and doubled down and jumped off the slippery slope. -
Adolin - Dancing on the Edge of being an Edgedancer
CrazyRioter replied to Ixthos's topic in Stormlight Archive
I personally think it is possible to revive a dead spren by saying the oaths and living them, it's just that it takes more effort and maybe special circumstances to get it to work. Your theory is absolutely interesting though and I can see you've put a lot of thought into it. I'm sure whatever Brandon comes up with it's gonna be Awesome.
