  1. The thing that still confuses me is how the darn Soulcaster got sheared clean through, I doubt Shallan is strong enough to shear through metal with an ordinary weapon. But I'm convinced that her thoughts about the Shardblade indicate that she must have got it after her father was dead. I also doubt she slashed his corpse with the Shardblade after he was dead as then the corpse would have got cut into bits. Incidentally, I'd really like to know how her brothers think their father died, as I doubt they know she killed him.
  2. I would like to announce that I've just seen a fantastic sunset.
  3. nope. We have almost no basis on which to guess anything about the element. the only things we know about it is that it's something powerful and/or dangerous that both the Author and the Recipient wanted protected and that if you take the comment about protecting it like he does his own skin, the Author embedded it in his own body somewhere, which indicates a small object. some people thought it was a Lerasium bead, but I don't think one Lerasium bead is sufficiently powerful to warrant that much apparent concern.
  4. actually in the Liar of Partheniel{sp fail} sample chapters, the "original Hoid" dies onscreen in the first chapter, so the Original Hoid is just plain dead.
  5. Ix is awesome. That is all.
  6. 1d6 investigators per round! oh wait, that's the tabletop game.
  7. you are evil and I love you.
  8. if you believe that then you have to explain why killing her father just randomly created a Shardblade, if you could create them by killing people, then I think it would be known.
  9. 1) is something that has been annoying me for a while, there's obviously something magical going on with her Memories, and it seems like she's been able to do that for a long time. I think that's something that we will just have to wait until we know more about the magic system and stuff to figure out. 2) is something that has been argued about before. 3) it was in the barracks when Kaladin was trying to figure out how to use Stormlight on purpose, unfortunately I don't have my book so I cannot provide a page reference.
  10. the size of the spike determines how much of a charge it can hold, but even a small spike is enough to give Ruin influence over the person which was the goal with the "stealth spikes". The Inquistor's spikes were also meant to make them powerful agents, for TLR originally and then for Ruin, to do that, large spikes were necessary.
  11. Brandon said Marsh is alive, and will appear in the second Mistborn trilogy, and somebody (maybe Sazed) stuck the spikes back into the kandra after everything was over.
  12. the main action of the books that we see all takes place in the Physical Realm, the only bit we've seen that takes place in another realm is Shallan's visits to Shadesmar in WoK. The cognitive and spiritual realms are both overlays of sorts on the physical. Or at least that's the way I understand it. it's generally assumed that all Shards started out with the same amount of raw power, though some are weaker now due to having split of part of there power. I believe it's explicitly stated that once preservation had given up part of himself to create sentient life, Ruin would eventually have been able to kill him, without being killed himself, but Preservation trapped him, and split off part of his power into the atium. which made him equal in power to preservation, and trapped, until he got free, and was able to kill Preservation because Preservation's mind was weakened, when Vin took the power they were equal in strength because some of Ruin's power was still trapped in the atium reserve, so they killed each other. Brandon has said that not all Shards are paired off as perfectly as Ruin and Preservation. who knows if there is more then one way to off a Shard, well Brandon does, but we don't. We generally assume they have to killed first before they get Splintered, but again, we don't know how Splintering works. There must be some benefit to mortal agents in Shard-fights, as they seem to use them a lot, but we don't know the details of what happened between Honor and Odium, so..... It's been theorized before that Splintering Shards is a power unique to Odium, and it may be, seeing as Ruin didn't Splinter Preservation after offing Leras. But then we don't know how Splintering works, it could take more time then Ruin had before Vin took the Shard. Or maybe Ruin figured he'd destroy the world first, then finish off the Shard. Which turned out to be dumb, if it's true. I think there's supposed to be 36 or 38 total Cosmere books.
  13. the original allomancers were various important people that helped TLR conquer the world.
  14. there will probably be another one of these eventually, it'd be nice to have somebody to actually ask some questions, the people that showed up at the last two were all experts :/
  15. Happy Birthday SOMe1else!
  16. I doubt Shallan's brothers have any clue about the Shardblade even existing, otherwise it would have come up in NB's viewpoint. Also, I'm pretty sure her father was stabbed in the back, he was lying face-down (which conveniently prevents us from conclusively disproving the theory that he got killed with a Shardblade). and as for Laral killing Roshone, I doubt it, she could have physically done it, but I doubt she would have. He might have died of natural causes due to age, or in another ill-fated hunting trip or something though. Or maybe Kaladin will end up killing him.
  17. she was engaged at the time Kaladin left home, she's probably married by now, it's been 5 years since then. Still a meeting between the two could be interesting. And if you want interesting romance, how about Sigzil and Jasnah?
  18. it's the very last chapter before the epilouge.
  19. and Elend was Preservation!Vin's champion. We definitely see that Marsh was Ruin's champion at the end, when Elend sees a trail of black smoke enveloping him. Or something, I don't have my books so I can't provide the exact quote.
  20. I'd be willing to play an online game if anybody gets one started.
  21. Sanderson has said he's leaning towards book2 being Shallan's book for what it's worth, and I really hope it is, because I want to find out what the heck happened that ended up with Shallan killing her dad. And I doubt very much that Szeth will show up at the beginning of book 2, it'll be at least halfway through the book before he shows up, if he shows up in book 2. and I can't see Kaladin with Jasnah, she's way too old for him and doesn't seem into romance at all. I think Kaladin would end up liking Shallan if he doesn't get too annoyed with her sense of humour.
  22. I suspect Hoid probably knew all the Shardholders to some degree before Adonalsium shattered.
  23. he's either going to like her, or get mad cause he thinks she's making fun of him and he takes it personally. and I'd be disappointed in Sanderson if Kaladin's issues with lighteyes just disappear, issues like that don't get resolved overnight. and as for what's going to happen with the "late arrival", well I don't know, but a certain other person is with him, and probably has ideas about who needs to talk to him, Kaladin may well be on the list. and watching Shallan utterly pwn some arrogant bitch would be highly entertaining. Especially since she'd probably add a verbal pwning to the deal.
  24. Marie Curie died of radiation poisoning because they didn't know that radiation was dangerous.
  25. I`m pretty sure the name FjorDor predates the release of WoK. So we didn`t know about Aona and Skai by name.
