Update on the Steelheart movie
AndrewStirlingMacDonald replied to WeiryWriter's topic in The Reckoners
Before panicking, let us remember that no film can ruin a book. The worst it can do is fail to do justice to its source material. In general, I prefer a picture that takes some liberties. If it is a beat-for-beat replica of an already-amazing story that already exists, why does it exist? That said, I really hope that it happens. If nothing else, it will exponentially increase Brandon's readership. -

In an interview, Brandon said that Vasher was imitating honorblades when he created Nightblood. There has been some lively debate about whether that means he actually knew about Honorblades (and had presumably visited Roshar) before the creation of Nightblood. There are some compelling arguments that he did, such as the unusual size of Nightblood (which is much closer in size to an honorblade). If this is indeed the case, I could imagine him, as one of the five scholars, visiting Scadrial and borrowing the idea of the Mistcloak (or perhaps inspiring it, as has been suggested earlier).

Just want to point out here that metabolizing food to fuel investiture is not unprecedented. It is something that all of the Idrian royals are able to do.

Yes, Shash is also a letter on Nalthis. It is the first letter that Siri teaches to Susebron.

Coppermind Birthday Bonanza Update
AndrewStirlingMacDonald commented on Joe ST's article in Brandon and Book News
I've never done wiki editing before, and my experience participating in this has left me very excited. I'm thinking about doing a completes wiki article for Tindwyl next.- 15 comments

Growing up I always felt like Marvel had the best heroes and DC had the best villains, and this is more-or-less how I still feel. There are exceptions, of course. I love Batman from DC, and I love Magneto from Marvel. As far as cinematic media go, I really enjoyed Chris Nolan's take on Batman, and I've generally enjoyed the MCU so far. I think the best part of it has been the Daredevil series on Netflix.

Sazed has a few moments where he worries that Tindwyl will reject him because of his inability to please her sexually. He even says it aloud to her at one point, and she tells him that she is no longer interested in sex anyway.

New WOB on Realmatic Theory
AndrewStirlingMacDonald replied to AndrewStirlingMacDonald's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It wasn't exactly a question, persay. What I said was: "I'm really interested about the ways that time and space work in the cognitive and spiritual realms, and about the mechanics of Realmatic theory in general. Can you tell me something about those mechanics that you haven't talked about yet?"- 23 replies

Sanderson-related texts
AndrewStirlingMacDonald replied to AndrewStirlingMacDonald's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Sorry about that, my mistake. If I blurred out the language would that be ok, or am I better off just not putting them up at all? -
I have had several great text conversations about Sanderson, and I will share them here. I will issue a warning here at the top that I will spoiler away the spoiler-laden ones. Here you go: Spoilers for Elantris:

[Firefight Tour] Philly, 1/27
AndrewStirlingMacDonald replied to Oudeis's topic in Events and Signings
I finally made it down to Children's Book World to pick up the copy of WoR I ordered for the signing. They had signed bookplates in, but no steehunt cards. The lady mentioned that they were hoping to get him back sometime this year, but I'm not sure if that was an official "We're working on it" or just a general hope. -
Brandon says Braize is "like a prison."
AndrewStirlingMacDonald replied to ROCkUguys13's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I may have a WOB that could apply here: When I ordered Alloy of Law I asked for him to tell me something about the relation of the cognitive and spiritual realms to each other and he wrote something like "The Cognitive Realm is linked to location, the Spiritual Realm is not. This affects the magics." EDIT: Annnd just realized I double-posted. Sorry 'bout that, I'll add the contents of the first post below here so that a mod can delete it if they want. You should totally post some cosplay photos, there is a section in the "gallery" for cosmere cosplay... -

Trying to get into Wheel of Time
AndrewStirlingMacDonald replied to Zionite's topic in The Wheel of Time
I'm on my 4th attempt to read through these, the first attempt I've made since Brandon took over the series (getting to his ending books is my motivation for trying again). I'm a little bit discouraged by what I'm reading here (consensus seems to be that 4-6 are the best), because I have never gotten all of the way through book 5 without getting so bored that I couldn't bring myself to pick it up and finish it. I'm partway through 4 now (they just got to Cold Rocks keep) and I am having such a hard time motivating myself to pick it up and read it every day, it just seems boring, like the story is going nowhere. In contrast, I really enjoyed books 1-3 every time I read them. Is there any way that I'm going to enjoy the rest of the series based on already feeling bored and frustrated by book 5? This is a series that I've always WANTED to love, but just couldn't manage to ever do it. -
Cosmere MBTI
AndrewStirlingMacDonald replied to AndrewStirlingMacDonald's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I think that this might just be my favorite forum. Even though we don't really speculate about the future turns of events in the series, I feel like I've gotten more insights into the characters - their pasts, presents and possibly futures - here than anywhere else. Thank-you to maxal, kari-no-sugata and everyone else who is participating in these fascinating and insightful conversations!- 131 replies

List of Worldhoppers (spoilers)
AndrewStirlingMacDonald replied to dungeonfood's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think it is also worth noting that Brandon says in Warbreaker's annotations that the nurse is a drab, which would seem to indicate that she is from Nalthis. EDIT: Nope, I'm wrong. I'm thinking of Mab the cook. My bad. In that case, I'm on board, now. Nurse Worldhopper FTW!- 28 replies
