  1. Gavilar says that sometimes the Stormfather feels like a Man and sometimes like a strange force. He also says the Stormfather sometimes thinks things should not be going as they are. I wonder if half the time Gavilar is seeing the Stormfather and the other times the StormFaker? Edit: And to be fair, Dalinar sometimes hear the "unite them" voice or sees visions from Noadon (maybe). There are weird things going on with Dalinar as well that imply more than 1 person can make a VR call. Heck, Lift can slide right in, so it doesnt appear that difficult to play around with the visions or the voices.
  2. It also explains why the The Stormfaker screams as a herald dies. Ishar created the Oathpact, so he would likely feel a death quite profoundly. The Stormfaker then promises to never use the Kholin family again, which is another hint at this not being the Real Stormfather. My guess is that Ishar gives up on using proxy-kings and decides to be the God-King of Tukar himself after this point.
  3. Oooh. Ishar is a very good culprit for this. There is no better person for connecting to Honour's visions, and for wanting research into moving things around Shadesmaar, and for looking into how to make new Heralds. That is 3/3
  4. If the Visions exist somewhere, it should be possible to connect to them. Or, perhaps something else could create them? Odium can go into the visions, and so can Lift, so we know it isnt impossible. EDIT: We also have visions from Noadon that The Stormfather cannot detect, so there are other visions out there possibly.
  5. I really don't think it is the Stormfather. Why would the Stormfather LIE to make Gavilar not believe that there were heralds around him? This does not line-up with what we see with Dalinar at all. The Stormfather with Dalinar also almost never gives information freely, yet this one with Gavilar is just doing info-dump after info-dump. Whatever this Spren/person is is encouraging Gavilar to ferry voidspren. Would the Stormfather ever do that? Would the Stormfather say "you will need someone to fight when you take the position I am offering you?" or "You are the one I have chosen?". Would the Stormfather call someone a "tool?" Gavilar's Stormfather appears mentally deranged. The Stormfather we know was begrudgingly giving visions to people, but in this prologue the Spren calls Gavilar the "Chosen One". That is weird. Dalinar's Stormfather seems to barely want to do much of anything and has to be convinced by Dalinar over and over. These personalities do not match. This plotline sounds a lot more like what happened to Venli than to what happened with Dalinar IMO
  6. I am not sure we are seeing the Stormfather. More likely an Unmade or something else along those lines? Edit: Now I believe it was Ishar or Nohadon
  7. "The world ended, and Shallan was to blame. - Words of Radiance, Chapter 10. Mentioned by @honorblades
  8. I am so excited my Shallan killed her mother-herald theory is looking very likely! Edit: link to theory
  9. We know Iri was a Silver Kingdom, so that seems fairly conclusive. It could be possible that the Iriali were known as something different before Roshar and changed their name to Iriali when they emmigrated, but that seems to go against the Wandering Tribe vibe Brandon is going for. I suppose there could have been native "Iriupidi" that were all but destrpoyed in a desolation, and then the Iriali showed up and took their place. However, that seems very unlikely to me. It would be a naming fluke that is too much of a mislead. The simplist solution is to assume this is a/the land after Roshar if we are considering timelines. I do admit there may be some issues with Tech, but at the same time Lumar is a backwater and may not have had many trade opportunities.
  10. 1. Emerald Sea takes place in the Cosmere Future 2. The Irali left Lumar 1,500 years ago for a new land 3. The final desolation took place 4500 years before TWoK, and at that time Iri was a well established Silver Kingdom. 4. the Iri had an Oathgate, meaning the Iri nation is older that 4500 years (possibly much older but we cant nail that down) 5. We now know Emerald Sea takes place in the Cosmere Future and that Hoid is telling this story relatively closely to the events happening. 5. The Irali left Lumar edit: 300 years before The Merald Sea for a new land Conclusion: These dates do not line up for this to be the 3rd land. It is not possible that the Iriali left Lumar for Roshar if Emerald Sea is set in the Cosmere future. If we were to take Lumar as being the home before Roshar, Emerald Sea would be taking place something like at least 3,500 years in the past relative to Roshar (and possibly a lot older depending on when Iri became a Silver Kingdom) I would be curious to know when did the Iri arrive on Roshar. Were they near the same time as the people from Ashyn? Did they perhaps replace the people from that region after a near compelte genocide during a desolation? There are so many people's on Roshar I sometimes woner if Cultivation and Honour sponsored Cosmere refugees to settle on Roshar in exchange for raw human labour and military power between desolations.
  11. He said we knew of the last one. And we have heard of wisdom, Anguish, and maybe Survival adjacent.
  12. The vibrating made me think of the tones. I wonder if vibrating a metal to a certain frequency or sound might have an added effect. i think it must have taken raw heat though because he sees frost in his breath when he has his warmth leeched away. If they can use heat, then I agree they likely can leach investiture or energy. I think the people chained to the ground were likely human conducting wire that channelled the energy/investiture into the metal shackles. so grim …
  13. Well, there was tech and buttons involved. This may be a hack of the magic system in some way. Or possibly, if this does turn out to be Invention’s World, this might some other way investiture plays out with a specific shard’s intent.
  14. Brass (Firesoul) Stores Warmth "He looked down at the bracers he’d been given. They were leeching his body heat straight out. Leaving him cold, his muscles lethargic. He breathed out, his breath misting. He looked up at the glowing-eyed man—who held a device with several buttons on it." The people of this planet seem to use brass as feruchemy. They use the "golden" bracers to drain away Nomad's warmth and also seem to use it at other points as well. Weirldy, a person who can only use fer-brass is known as a Fire SoulH Part if me thinks the people chained to the ground are being used to gather investiture/energy and store it in the shackles for later use CLARIFICATION: Nomad refers to it as "golden", but brass can have a gold colour.
  15. We know that Shai of Sel is supposed to come back at some time, so I wonder if she hunted him down and became his apprentice. As her story ends with her looking for Hoid, it makes sense she might be one of them.
  16. Well if Sigzil is time jumping, then 99.99% of the Stormlight cast should be gone.
  17. Anyone else feel that this is Invention's world? Invention made a bizarre world that demands people to come up with creative solutions to ever-encrouching problems.
  18. I wonder if this is a return to how Broken Oaths work before Mishram's imprisonment? We know deadeyes were not a thing before them, so maybe the bond remained in same way when things were normal and connection wasnt all messed up?
  19. Could what is happening to Sigzil be something related to "the curse of kind"?
  20. Seems like Ashyn or Braize are quite likely now. Ashyn seems more likely, but seeing what is happening on Braize (or Braize in the past when people may hve lived there) could be quite interesting. What other adjacent but less likely places are there: The Sleepless World(s) A Dawnshard Story The Iriali world (s) Where ever Wandersail went What ever those boat people prophecy from the Lighthouse are Full Cog Realm book Nighblood's Story Odium's travel's before Stormlight A Shard's Travels before Stormlight The Listeners backstory
  21. "Related to Roshar" would certainly seem like Ashyn. Though, who knows is Braize ever had anything there as well in the past? Or even the future? I was keeping the faith that the story was Silence Divine, but I do admit it is weird that Brandon kept saying that his team had to plot 3 new star systems. Maybe that was a faint? Still kinda odd. The only other thing I can think of is maybe wherever Wandersail went?
  22. Forging and Gold/Malatium Misting seem pretty nicely tied together. Being able to fully understand someone's possible alternative lives must make Forging a heck of a lot easier.
  23. There There are WOBS pointing to a. Wisdom-ish b. Anguish-ish c. Prudence-ish d. Something that wants to survive IMO, Wisdom isnt a thing anymore since we have Invention and Virtuosity. We also ot the Anguish WOB in 2020, so that feels more likely.
  24. Now that we have had 2 Hoid books, I’m fairly sure this last one is going to be Hoid’s Origin story. Edit: I am aware Brandon has said this would come latr, but at the same time Brandon keeps saying these were practice attempts at getting Hoid's narrative style down. We know SP4 was a last minute addition, so I wonder if he just suddently felt the Iron was hot. Plus, the Hoid Art that is shown as the banner of the project makes me even more suspicious.
