interesting. However, in my opinion the opposite of Ambition should be Whimsy. Then Cutlivation and Endownment are somewhat opposites as well (growing vs giving).

Linguistics of SP 3
teknopathetic replied to Precisa Disso's topic in Yumi and the Nightmare Painter
Koreans have also had heated floors in their homes for over 1000 years. Here is a link to it: Traditional Korean Heating System (antiquealive.com) Since Brandon lived in South Korea, he likely knew about this and is making reference to Ondol/Gudeul -
So do we think Nightmares are anything like Shades? We know a shard was splintered near both worlds, and then we see these demonic forces destroying the words nearby.
-
Brandon has also mentioned a Misery/Anguish/Sadness shard as being possibly real as well. It is possible Wisdom turned into Virtuosity and/or Invention. June 2020

Is anyone else assuming that the two worlds were split in half 1500 years ago? Sure seems like one is a Dark Sphere and the other is a Light Sphere. We also know the languages are related by having High and Low forms of vocabulary radicals (and hoid says they are related explicitly). The Dark World suddenly is thrown into chaos as shadows overtake it post-split.
-
It seems like these two worlds were split apart. One is so bright and the other so dark. We also know the languages are related. So maybe 1500 years ago someone split the entire planet thus making two new ones that were thrown into chaos? Or, at least the dark world was thrown into chaos.

It was mentioned in Stormlight 4 in text:https://coppermind.net/wiki/Whimsy There are HUGE spoilers surrounding the list of shards (names, fates, locations, powers), so I would avoid reading about the Shards in-depth if you are not finished all the published books yet. Even just reading an article about the list of shards could be a disaster.
-
Hoid also says the languages of the two worlds are related, so there must have been contact or maybe one world is an offshoot of the other.

THe 144 seconds in water ritual makes me think of Shardpools for some reason.

What's Your Bad Pitch For The Ending Of The Stormlight Archive?
teknopathetic replied to Bacon's topic in Stormlight Archive
1. Odium and Cultivation unite into a new shard through something Lift manges to do. 2. Hounor is reforged but is now Unity. 3. Roshar is destroyed and the peoples of Roshar leave with the Iriali to a new world (likely Nalthis). -
Secret Project 1 Spoiler: What to read into?
teknopathetic replied to teknopathetic's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
Thanks for the write up on the project! I vaguely knew those details but I am glad to have read them. The thing I noticed is that Brandon called it Kingmaker sometimes and Kingkiller othertimes, so wasnt sure if that was a slip of some kind. -
Brandon says "dont read into me saying Whimsy', but that you should read into something else I said earlier in this stream" [paraphrase] Any ideas? This happens at 1:23 Things I heard: the Midnight Mother is doing things similar to what the Night Aether did in Aether of Night (their names are quite similar) he say wrote "Kingmaker" [sic] after writing Tress. He calls it Kingmaker a few times. He then correct himself and calls it 'King Killer'. Is that something? " if you look at the Kickstarter page, there's that nice illustration of Hoid--also done by Howard Lyon--and in the background you will see some stars. Hmm? The new ones aren't in there yet"
-
It would be odd if Aethers are fueling their investiture by themselves without any shardic power source. Since the spores are killed by silver, I image there is investiture involved. And since the Aethers chose this world, I assume there is an in-world reason for it. Maybe not. Maybe Aethers can make their own investiture out of nothing or by using the ambient investiture in all worlds, but that does seem odd considering the scope of what is going on in that world.

What is everyone's theory for the 4 books?
teknopathetic replied to AidenTollis's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I dont believe he said "worlds". I think he said something more like "locations" or "places". One could argue Darkside is a new location. EDIT: he said words on the Kickstarter. My mistake -
The colours make me think Sky Colours from Darkside, but seeing as we have no idea what those are, I am likely wrong!

Geophysics of a world of dry oceans
teknopathetic replied to Oltux72's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
The story mentions whales, so either there are oceans somewhere or something very odd is going on with noun-reference in this story. -
Secret Project #1: Everything we Know About the Magic
teknopathetic replied to Fritochip's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
It is interesting to note that the island is made of barren black saltstone. Does the island repell or kill the spores themselves as it is made of salt? Is the air salt and therefor safe? How potent is salt? And are aethers in general salt-phobic, or just the spores? What prevents the island from being overtaken by the spores? What geological or magical process is allowing the saltstone to shoot up? Was this once a mountain? -
Possible questions for next Tuesday's Q&A
teknopathetic replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Questions: Is this the world the Iriali habbitet before Roshar? What is this world named in the Cosmere? -
He is basically saying that everyone has stupid happenstance religious beliefs and that people are far too quick to judge the stupid random religious beliefs of others. People with big moons make stories of moons and people without moons tend not to worship moons. It is just happenstance. You cant worship what you don't have. Hoid has literally met all the "Gods/gods" of the Cosmere, so to him these variations of faith are a little ridiculous.
