  1. I know you said it's from a specific world, but... the Ars Arcanum?
  2. Denth? EDIT: Or Breeze, maybe?
  3. I'm gonna say AonDor and Epics (because of the nature of suddenly turning into something else), on the off-chance the previous guess is wrong. It probably isn't.
  4. Do Seekers sense other Seekers' Bronzepulses? If so, finding Copperclouds with Bronzepulse triangulation sounds pretty awesome.
  5. Actually, this would allow some "fun" with underground/hidden mass-soothing stations along the lines of those TLR had with even less upkeep. Hooray for oppressive governments! Or, y'know, you could use copper to create areas where soothing doesn't work. In fact, that's probably something we'll see, since it would be invaluable.
  6. I don't know how possible this is (as it seems mostly speculation based on the WoB that it's possible to do Hemalurgy differently), but it seems like an elegant and non-OP way to integrate Hemalurgy into the realm of things other than "science" (Dark Alley/GladOS) and barbarism. Seems plausible to me as a thing Brandon could do. It also wouldn't surprise me, though, if it's something that he hadn't thought of and wouldn't work at all. Still, a well thought-out and innovative theory. An upvote and nod of respect to you.
  7. The savant point is interesting, but I'd like to point out that it's still an ethical concern with criminals. After all, any justice system makes mistakes sometimes, and people who are criminals don't have to remain criminals. I have no doubt much ink has been used in such discussions by people who are Invested (heh) in it than I, however. Anyway, savants... It could be possible, but I think Savanthood comes from aptitude with an Allomantic metal as opposed to its effects. That is, of course, a slippery distinction, but there are no mentions (that I know of) of Feruchemical iron Savants (or even Allomantic bendalloy savants). Or, y'know, I could be completely wrong.
  8. The first two I just really enjoyed. I do have a question about the third, though... Is that because the dress isn't afraid of you? Awaken a pair of carved wooden hands with the Command, "Arm wrestle nearby wooden objects."
  9. I see it as white and gold, but in the last couple hours I saw a few pictures of it with different white balances, and the one that yielded blue and black (or dark brown, as you say) also yielded the best background. In short, I agree with you. I still think it was an unnecessarily whimsical thing to cause such division. And, because I feel obligated (heh) to include a useless use for a useful power: During TLR's reign, have an Obligator oversee a land transaction from you to yourself. (Technically a useful power, even if it's not magical.)
  10. Please, let's just not. Hemalurgically charge a pair spikes with the speed and motivation of a sloth, then spike yourself. Profit?
  11. Shard, High Prelan of Language Use.
  12. It's a stretch, but Odium?
  13. Not having read it, I wasn't presuming to count it as worthless. I just mean that it's long enough that you could probably stamp the paper to be printed with anything after you have read it (or before, if you don't care that much; actually, removing the stamp ought to return it to War and Peace anyway). Ah... Fair point. I suppose if that's true, the worst that happened is that I explained something superfluously.
  14. I think Hoidhunter's theory could explain the effects of Feruchemical steel, but it still seems unlikely. After all, it's important to realize that Feruchemy always stores something. I can't see Feruchemical steel working just by regulating the output of energy (or time, or however you phrase it). While I don't yet have a theory for how it works, I think it's pretty intuitive that because Steel makes you faster, it also allows you to move farther with the same amount of energy. After all (and this may or may not be applicable; I'm no expert), position is the integral of velocity, which is a fundamental connection between the two. Perhaps, instead of storing caloric energy like Bendalloy does, Feruchemical steel allows the Ferring/Feruchemist to exert those calories (while storing) toward the movement they will make later (while tapping). I mean, this is hardly a novel concept (at least one person has already basically said as much), but might be able to get rid of the issues with Sazed's trip. Then again, it would require more caloric input while storing. I guess the point of this reply is to say that however Feruchemical steel does its thing, it has to be consistent with the nature of Feruchemy. That's why I think ideas like personal time shift (which, as shown by Allomantic bendalloy and Allomantic cadmium, requires energy input no matter whether you're expanding or contracting time) and the assistance field (which doesn't really seem enough like storing and tapping) don't work. At the same time, I think that however Feruchemical steel works, it has to provide the energy for the extra movement from tapping.
  15. Varion Crestmar. Are they Cosmere?
  16. Alcatraz? Kelsier? (And a long shot) Nalizar?
  17. It's Forging personality.Stamp novels to turn them into other novels. Buy War and Peace, then never buy another book again.
  18. Oh, the irony of destroying the memories of destroying one's copperminds... Train yourself to a level of skill with Allomantic iron and Allomantic steel at which you can write by pushing and pulling on a pen. Discover you have bad handwriting like that, too.
  19. Possible spoiler: Do we even have to mark spoilers on this thread?
  20. Too many people replying to mine to quote, but basically it's useless because, as King of Nowhere said, bad memories are useful for character development. If we don't have those memories, we make the same mistakes again. Now, this could be mitigated by only removing some of the memories, and thus making it less functional but still as symbolic. In the same vein, if you have love letters or somesuch from an ex, put them in a box, lock the box, and use an enormous amount of Stormlight to quadruple-Lash it upward. (Also, I'm happily in a relationship. So don't read into this. )
  21. Oh. OH. Um... Off-topic due to usefulness, but that does bring up the possibility of using a bunch of Cadmium to defend an outpost until reinforcements arrive or blocking a chokepoint with a Cadmium bubble to facilitate evacuation/escape behind it. On a less useful/more mundane note: After a tough breakup, store the memories of the relationship in a Coppermind, then use that copper to make Thermite. Ignite the Thermite and walk away.
  22. "correct"? Stamp someone else's test to be yours instead, leading to absolutely no gain when it clears all the correct answers the other person had written and either replaces them with the wrong answers you would have written or with nothing because you were banking on this working. When you realize it didn't work, throw up a Bendalloy bubble to quickly fill in the answers (guess, because you didn't study) while filling a Luckmind. Turn in the paper as if nothing happened. Later in the day, when you think the teacher is grading, tap the Luckmind (and be wrong about the timing). Take a video of your dog howling "Valjean's Soliliquy"* and post to Youtube (because Luck). When you get your test back and realize it's not what you hoped for, hemalurgically spike the teacher and forcefully obtain the shard of Harmony from Sazed*, and then make the teacher regrade your test to a good grade. Give Sazed back his shard*. Get reported for cheating on the test by the student whose test you stole, then jailed for stabbing a teacher with metal spikes. Fail the class. ... Have an interesting story to tell at parties**? * Impossible or likely so ** Federal hearings
  23. Alternately, just Awakening, maybe with just a bit of Hemalurgy (for some sincerity in the presence of foreign souls).
  24. Shaggai and Snoopy, you have inspired me. "Come eat this stew!" Tom shouted raucously. "It's pretty lawless out here," Tom said roughly. "I'd like to give you this stamp," Tom said shyly. "My life to yours, my breath become yours," Tom said drably. (I feel as if I've seen the last one somewhere, but I couldn't find it, so I'm keeping it.)
