  1. Or Command the photos to "Be grayscale."
  2. Sever your finger and then attempt to awaken it to "Draw Aon Daa". After that, run very quickly away. Awaken a plod, then try to Hemalurgically grant it sentience. Next, go cry forever because you are an awful person. A (possibly) useful one: Awaken a dead Koloss as a plod. Spike yourself with several Allomantic duralumin spikes, assuming you aren't actually a Misting/Mistborn. Bonus points if half the spikes are instead Allomantic aluminum.
  3. That might be the best thing I've read so far today. "I think you might be able to survive a few hours on Patji." -Dusk
  4. When Brandon becomes distracted, he writes more to get himself back on task. Sanderfans are so dedicated to discovering the secrets in the Cosmere that Brandon sometimes has to clarify that the one thing he can't remember saying doesn't actually contradict that other thing he sort of remembers saying.
  5. Steel didn't actually exist before Brandon wrote Steelheart. We just haven't noticed because the moment he finished it, steel immediately had already been. Brandon previously did science (just science in general) for a living, but he was too successful at everything, so he turned to writing so other scientists could be employed. Brandon gains half his energy from Sanderfan curiosity, hence RAFO. The other half is cold fusion.
  6. That's true, and it's a use I hadn't considered. The amount of Investiture necessary is prohibitive, however. I believe (though I may be mistaken) that doing this requires ~20k Breaths and would make the Spike sentient. Also, as shown with Nightblood, it's possible that it could use some sort of innate Investiture to accomplish its purpose (whatever command that might be), and (also shown with Nightblood) that could make many people unhappy and/or dead. In general, it seems like a bad choice. It may not even be possible, as different kinds of Investiture seem to resist use in other ways or coexistence with other kinds of Investiture (I'm pretty certain a spike can't have both Hemalurgic and Feruchemical charges). Aaand now I feel compelled to contribute to the thread for real... Awaken a textbook to "Be The Way of Kings"
  7. Hm... I certainly see your point about the Savants, though I wasn't at all suggesting an Investiture-based healing program for them but rather a program of personal emotional and physical support while weaning them off of metal use. Also, I'm still conflicted about whether I want to commit myself to a group like this. I would prefer to concoct ways of using technology and Investiture-based abilities to promote social equality and Cosmere-wide community than to forsake Investiture altogether. Indeed, while your observations about oppression are accurate, this is common to most any situation in which one group has a greater level of capability in using violence to their ends than another. In this case, it just happens to be a wider gap than, say, a particularly strong person versus a weak person (in terms of musculature). In both cases, however, if someone "loses" and dies, they're just as dead. In addition, Investiture-based abilities and technologies require the honing of skill for effective use, which, to a certain extent, precludes the acquisition of other skills. Perhaps a Mistborn is an effective killing machine, but at the same time s/he may be rubbish at public speaking, or mathematics, or social interactions (sans violent social interactions). I think that I will wait to see the sort of organization this becomes before committing myself to it, if I choose to do so.
  8. Attempt to stamp the cat so it was a completely different species. Incredibly difficult, probably wouldn't work, and would last, at most, a day.Stamp a spike so it's Hemalurgically charged with Allomantic aluminum, then spike someone with it. If this works at all, you now have someone with a spike and a useless* power who might have to restamp the spike periodically to avoid dying. If it doesn't work, well... You tried? *With current Sanderfan knowledge
  9. Aydee Smedry? EDIT: I can't bring myself to make this an actual guess...
  10. Skaa, I am still uncertain. Screwloose's greeting also brings up the question of Epics. They technically do not utilize Investiture. Also, I'm not convinced that utilizing inborn or bestowed Investiture-(or otherwise-)based abilities for the good of all isn't at least as noble as your seeming exclusivity at a high cost. After all, your insistence on not using abilities definitely excludes Allomantic Savants, as they grow dependent on metal use. I suppose detox may be possible, but your support during that time had better be incredible if you intend such a thing.
  11. As I didn't feel compelled to read 101 pages of this, these are only restricted to Sanderson-original characters, right? So it's not just Cosmere? Mitosis?
  12. The answer is quite vague. The picture has the second wave with (apparently; it isn't completely clear) larger amplitude, but it also has a higher frequency. I made this thread quite a while ago, and more recently KalynaAnne has pretty much worked out a large portion of the Rithmatic mechanics here. If I remember correctly, she posits (and got WoB on this being the case) that amplitude in general deals with the energy of the LoV, while frequency determines whether it's better at pushing things (low frequency) or punching through things (high frequency). Just go check that out.
  13. So you accept Aluminum mistings as well?
  14. Actually, Rebel Wilson should play Kar.
  15. I will likely try it at some point.
  16. *raises hand* What's your policy on Aviar?
  17. That was wonderful. Thank you. Also, the antagonists from Scadrial would have a solid team. "And Miles Hundredlives just got shot with an blast of energy from Steelheart, but I'm not sure he even knows it happened yet! And he has the touchdown!" Or a Shard team. "Harmony and Odium are butting heads over Odium's decision, but the enormous storm is certainly taking the ball down the field. And there goes the roof, Andy. I think it's time to commentate from the bunker."
  18. I don't think Pewter compounding would compensate for the rigors of re-entry. Likely one would end up very VERY strong and very dead as well. In general, re-entry without equipment is a bad life choice.
  19. No. I don't want to start considering sentient metalminds. Except... Awaken a hemalurgic spike with the command "Avoid blood" Awaken a hemalurgic spike with the command "Talk about morality" Awaken a hemalurgic spike with the command "Be optimistic" Awaken a hemalurgic spike with the command "Denounce hemalurgy" ... Awaken a hemalurgic spike.
  20. First of all, considering the correlations between the opposing metals whose workings we know very* well (e.g. Steel vs. Iron, Cadmium vs. Bendalloy, Zinc vs. Brass, etc.), Nicrosil likely works the same way Duralumin does, which is to say it only compresses the effects of the other metal(s) into a short amount of time instead of actually augmenting their power. Second of all, we've kind of hijacked this thread. Something needs to be done about this, though I'm not experienced enough with the forums to know what the etiquette is in this situation... * In terms of their relations to one another. Don't kill me (Kurkistan) for suggesting that we understand Cadmium and Bendalloy.
  21. I think this would work only if the Feruchemist could also compound Bendalloy, because when a metalmind is ingested it becomes a burnable source of Investiture. Though maybe this could work as you suggested? We really don't know enough about Nicrosil to say for sure, do we?
  22. That's fair, I suppose. I had assumed that it didn't force metal use, but I hadn't realized that they'd probably already be storing. In extreme cases, it may be possible to use on Compounders, but it would probably be most useful against normal Allomancy. EDIT: It does depend, though, on whether there's some practical limit on the speed at which one can fill a metalmind. If there is a limit, using Allomantic nicrosil on a Compounder could, at the very least, cause them to waste a bunch of whatever they are storing.
  23. I don't think it works that way. Marsh's sDNA isn't just corrupted; he has parts of other people's sDNA basically post-it-noted (spliced, technically) on top of his old sDNA. The only viable way of repairing Hemalurgic damage to sDNA that I've seen is using cognitive shenanigans and healing magics, though Kurkistan's latest theory would break that (assuming it's accurate).
