  1. I forgot where it came from here, but through the wonders of keyword searching, here is the post where I found it: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/19184-twinborn-names/?p=189678 The list is, as the post says, from the MAG. Your "swimming in lava" quote from above seems to suggest that the Feruchemist/Ferring would be burned by the egg or water, but I was under the impression that, from a thermodynamics standpoint, there's no heat exchange between two objects of the same temperature. I guess it comes down to us not knowing. And, to add to the original topic: Skimmer rescue divers (using Feruchemical iron to change their functional density (assuming this is how it works) in water to affect their buoyancy).
  2. Incredibly close, but I'm asking for the impossible way, not the situation or the improbable prison. Something specific.
  3. Quite true. Honestly, they're just built to handle ridiculous punishment in general. I feel like an Allomantic pewter-Feruchemical gold Twinborn (Bruteblood, according to the incomplete list of Twinborn names) could be a straight-up action hero (for example, running straight at a group of gunmen/coinshots and just taking the bullets in stride before beating them to death or unconscious with his/her own hands...). Also, an Allomantic pewter-Feruchemical tin gymnast or traceur. They could burn Pewter and store balance while not training or performing and then tap it in addition to burning Pewter later.
  4. Ninja'd in regard to the second WoB. A question I'm curious about is whether Brass stores and taps the actual heat in a Feruchemist's body. Could a Firesoul with a great deal of stored heat cook an egg (for example) on their hand? How about boiling water with only their extreme body heat? Could they sort of dry-clean their clothing by getting soaked then becoming extremely hot (soundless wasteful, but I guess it would work if you worked/lived in a hot environment)? All the questions. Sparker (Zinc ferring) field linguists (the mental speed would help with processing the phonology of new languages while transcribing). Steelrunner magicians (lightning-fast hand movement). EDIT: Was looking through the Theoryland Feruchemy stuff (same link as above, in LabRat's reply), and I found the answer to my question:
  5. There's always a limit to how quickly you can store, though.
  6. Firesoul (Brass ferring) firefighters. Lurcher building inspectors. Skimmer boxers and wrestlers (probably banned, but still). Windwhisperer sewage plant manager (had to try and find something a Tineye couldn't do as well).
  7. An impossible way out of an improbable cage.
  8. I've not read Firefight yet, but from some of the stuff I've heard... Calamity?
  9. Well, Odium is the obvious one, but that seems to easy. On the off-chance, though, that IS a guess. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to say Hemalurgy.
  10. Thank you. It also occurs to me that distinguishing numbers like 7 and 99 would require significant care. It seems the widths and angles of numbers are vital... Anyway, I don't know about the accuracy of canonical dates, but the newer key is much clearer to me.
  11. Unfortunately, all we really have for this is conjecture. In other words, we don't know. However, there is a precedent (Nightblood) for abilities shifting upon worldhopping, so that might happen. My guess is that he would retain his abilities and be able to use Breaths as extra powerful Surgebinding fuel, or he would change abilities to something completely unexpected that directly relates to the nature of breaths and Awakening.
  12. How do the Vorin numerals actually work? I notice that in the 1173 example, none of the bottom characters are present unless the numeral is a one. Also, do you figure that they read dates from the bottom upward? EDIT: Here's an ultra-high quality* picture from my cellphone of a post-it note with an attempt at "2015". Is this right? If it's not, what's wrong? * No.
  13. Thank you on both accounts. The ratio-based mathematics I've been doing lately have been with weight-percents of metals in alloys, so I'm used to that right now. Anyway, I think I've fixed it. As for the collision thing, I'd read it, but it hadn't occurred to me that it was so similar to my proposal.
  14. I apologize if this is the wrong place to say this or someone else has already put it forward, but it occurs to me that if we look at pushing (though it would work with pulling, too) as producing a total acceleration between the two bodies based on their combined weights with the individual acceleration being dependent on the weight fractions of the bodies (the allomancer and whatever they're pushing), that may explain something of the results. Mathematically, I'd model this (guesstimationally) as A(total) = K / (m1 + m2) where K is some force dependent on the allomancer's strength. Thus, K1 (the force acting on object 1) = K * m2 / (m1 + m2) K2 = K * m1 / (m1 + m2) and A1 = K1 / (m1 + m2) = K * m2 / (m1 + m2)^2 A2 = K2 / (m1 + m2) = K * m1 / (m1 + m2)^2 In any situation in which one of the objects can't accelerate, the other object's acceleration would become the total acceleration. For example, A2 = 0 A1 = A(total) = K / (m1 + m2) I'm sure there are issues with this model. Anyone care to bring them to light (including issues with my mathematics)? EDIT: Oh, um... Distance. Something about diminishing force based on distance, too. EDIT 2: Assuming something like inverse-square, an equation could be A2 = K * m1 / (d^2 * (m1 + m2)^2)
  15. Shardblades
  16. This is why I love this community. Unfortunately, Sparkysparkyboombender is a bit of a mouthful. Also, I bet that everyone calls them that because Sokka was important enough to exert his wacky influence. Oh, and... I'm going to agree with you, but only on the premise that the Flash would be fast enough to avoid being hit. I think Szeth (old abilities or new) is resourceful enough to keep the Flash at bay if not cause the Flash to retreat.
  17. Yeden's Rebellion? Elend's books about political theory? Civil rights in general in TFE?
  18. It's Straff Venture. This, though... I like this very much.
  19. None of the above. It's actually pretty straightforward.
  20. This character would've noticed the Iocane.
  21. I'm pretty sure there's a WoB that says Nightblood is far more than a match for a Shardblade. Well, Fire or Air would be able to hit him more easily, but Earth depends on taking away his Stormlight, which would then allow the Earthbender to move around much quicker than Szeth while battering him with rocks. The idea isn't that it would be easy, but rather that, without Stormlight, Szeth is just a guy with a sword that can cut through anything. Attacking him from multiple directions and/or pelting him with lots of attacks will at least tire him (if he dodges in time) if not kill him outright. In any case, I guess a Combustionbender would have an easier time in general.
  22. Are you saying the name can be used for either or that you're talking about a specific person being in a specific place? EDIT: Sadeas?
