  1. Nothing in what you said would be motivation to go on a date with Doug2, you are not responsible for his feelings on either side of things. I would suggest talking to your friend Doug and reassure her of your disinterest in Doug2, just to avoid any misunderstandings. Honestly, Doug2 sounds like a bit of an idiot at best (and a huge jerk at worst) for just announcing that you'd go on a date with him without ever actually, you know, Asking you out. Personally, it sounds to me like your friend Doug dodged a bullet and can likely do much better.
  2. I dont know about shedding mass, if its possible or what it might cost them, but at worst I think Kaiju-form might just be something they could get trapped in Edit: for a while. It would provide all tools necessary for a Kandra to (eventually) mimic and hide as a Chasmfiend or similar kaiju greatshell on Roshar. The only thing stopping them from growing themselves that large is the Gravity issue all the greatshells already face, and this should be a perfectly viable alternative to spren for solving that problem. Edit: Shedding Confirmed
  3. I dont recall anything to contradict it, so like to imagine a springy two-pronged stylus like a small set of pointy salad tongs or kid's chopsticks, so they draw out consistent symmetry just by squeezing the stylus prongs together.
  4. Nope, that takes it full circle. Either the ocean isnt itself wet but can only be made wet by adding another wetting liquid (oil), or else the Wetting Liquid is itself Wet, and so both Oil and Water are wet.
  5. So if "Wet" is the clingy sensation of a liquid but not the liquid itself, by that definition the Ocean isnt wet, but the Ocean during an oil spill is.
  6. Hmm, fair points. I think Highspren would be offended by the implication that they are nebulous and/or imprecise, but I like the astronomy theme. A System of Highspren? , astronomy aside, it's probably a Court of Highspren, honestly. Id say a Spectrum of Lightspren, but that implies too much internal variety. And Flare has been claimed for Flamespren... A Shine of Ligtspren? Hahah, you win the internet for today.
  7. Ive long been convinced that story is the secret Story of Tanavast's Downfall. Each of the three moons' color coding corresponds to one of the three shards. In the story the Green Celestial entity (Cultivation) gave their divinity away for a day so they could experience human life, nearly got tricked out of it, and when they got it back they discovered that in their absence the Blue-White Celestial had a child with the interloper, creating a Blue power. (The violet Celestial Entity does not play any obvious role). I think Cultivation tried to make a bargain to take a break from Shardhood, and in doing so inadvertently tricked/cornered Tanavast into an Act of Infidelity with Cultivation's replacement (or at least gave the replacement the means and opportunity to trick him), a child resulted, and that act was Incompatible with the Shardic Intent of Honor that it drove him mad. Also I think the child is one of the unrevealed Big Players in the past, BAM or Nohadon maybe?
  8. A Virtue of Honorspren A Jury Reach of Highspren A Range of Peakspren A Garden of Cultivationspren A Mount of Ashpren A Deceit of Cryptics A Well of Inkspren A Bank of Mistpren A Shine Rainbow of Reachers A Triumvirate of Godspren EDIT: there exists Rainbowspren and Reachers, so we needed replacements.
  9. Fair point, but I think the same danger would exist in Bilming since they were doing all the secret underground Bomb testing that were being called earthquakes. Presumably some of those were versions of the full trelluim design.
  10. On top of that, isnt there a reasonable chance that all the Bomb shenanigans (and ongoing Investiture Bomb development) might create trace amounts of Lerasium just like what happened to Wax? Which is hilarious to me because it would lead them to a Comicbook-esk era where their equivalent of the Cold War Nuclear Bomb tests literally do grant Superpowers instead of just cancer like RL nukes [insert Family Guy meme here].
  11. Welcome to the Shard! For food, here's an article on Cosmere cuisine that might give you some ideas. I once had great luck with "Chull-meat" burgers which is supposed top be half-way between surf and turf (High-fat ratio beef, tuna, Worcestershire sauce, diced Onions, and an egg for binder, kneaded like a meatloaf and grilled as burgers). Large Community Stew-pot? For activities, hmmm... one-handed Pictionary? An experimental game of Tarachin (the game of stones that Zahel plays) Cosmere Guess Who (See this thread, the OP provided links to the google doc for the custom pictures needed).
  12. I dont think that part is true, what you describe is the progression of Civilization which is currently represented by Honor+Cultivation in the Venn Diagram of Shardic purviews. Dominion doesnt really imply Doing anything specific with things, no inherent transformation, it's just extreme Domination or at best Extreme Territoriality. In fact I would think Dominion would play really well with the Unchanging Statis aspect of Preservation more than the sort of inherent change/progression of say Cultivation or Ambition (or even Ruin).
  13. My understanding is that they have a Realmic blockage and the Hemalurgic spike is able to bridge over it by virtue of being a transrealmic effect in it's own right, which among other things is why it's relatively versatile on what kind of spikes can accomplish it. The Gemheart is providing a similar realmic bridge to Singers to allow them to hear Rhythms, etc from the Spiritual realm, so it's at least diong something that's similar in some respects.
  14. But the hypothetical Mistwraith in question would have digested and incorporated the Gemheart of an actual Singer, which certainly should retain that Connection. WOB says a gem-based Trueself for a Kandra could be used "like a gemheart" which could mean anything from Hearing Rhythms to facilitating a Spren Bond and taking a Form. So I dont think it's a big stretch for a Mistwraith to function along similar lines. I think the more critical question would be whether the Gemaheart can Replace Blessings as the realmic Bridge needed for the Mistwraith to regain sentience. If the gemheart does that it might birth a Kandra or it might create a whole new (non-hemalurgic) species.
  15. Oh, sorry. As to the core question, I honestly think we'll see both Radiant Orders and Fused Brands join both sides, completely upending the traditional sides, with subgroups going any and all ways. I think you'll find more among the fused that want to defect (either to ease the madness of reDeath or to return to the Spren), but also some energized by the new management. Similarly I expect more Spren races and thus Orders to side with Odium like the Skybreakers have done. We know at least one unMade is interested in defecting, and just for narrative symmetry I would not be terribly surprised to learn that the Nightwatcher has decided to side with Todium for her own reasons.
  16. Option 4. The unprecedented ability to return with each Everstorm and not once per Desolation quickly and visibly begins to exhaust the remaining Singer population at rates never faced before.
  17. Minor side-note, but I believe the "purplish" instance are supposed to indicate the Stygian Color inversion of Odium's native Gold, rather than a Corruption-red plus the Blue of Honor.
  18. Not to nitpick, but the Question is "Did the Stormfather kill Tanavast". The whole "Child Of Tanavast" topic is just a tangent coming off of one proposed answer, and it's a theory that's pretty much been shot down by WOB (see below). I dont think that's possible for two reasons: I dont think it's literally possible since the Stormfather has been confirmed to have merged with Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow and I dont think that would be possible if he had survived. Also he's married to Cultivation and she certainly seem to think that Rayse killed him, so I dont think he'd have walked out on their relationship like that (thought it's admittedly hard to guess her mind in so many ways). WOB has confirmed that Kaladin has nothing secret or unique with his heritage, he doesnt want these characters to needing some special past or heritage to be special.
  19. Yup, what I was offering was an alternative to the Child of Tanavast connection that @Dreamwa1ker mentioned, not an extension of it.
  20. No, Im suggesting that the Child itself became an UnMade. Per WOB, the child of an active shard would have Oddities, so it might have been a unique enough being (or just Connected to Honor in a unique enough way) for Rayse to have tried to capitalize on them. Specifically, I think BAM could have been said Child, and that being the Child of Honor is what let them Connect (via some use Spiritual Adhesion, presumably) to the Singers during the False Desolation and provide Forms of Power and Voidlight in a way that previously Odium had to do directly. Something about the War changed to allow the False Desolation to happen, and I think it was the Child of Honor being made into, UnMade into, or maybe Merged into, etc. the UnMade we know of today.
  21. Or it got UnMade and provided the Void side with a previously unprecedented power once upon a time...
  22. So each of the three Godspren where built/birthed as a reflection of three more ancient Old Magic Spren: The Wind to The Stormfather, the Stone to the Sibling, and the Night to the Nightwatcher. The Wind is apparently still around in some form, RAFO soon enough it seems. The Stone is probably still present, likely related to the Shin Stone Shaman that consider any Stone to be a Spren (possibly a single specific spren. I still like to think that the entire Rosharan Continent is a single Spren akin to the Cryptics, a spiraling Fractal shape, and continent is just it's raised body on the platetary surface not unlike Pattern's body being a raised pattern on the surface of a table. "The Night Left"... Where did they go? Did they just go into hiding somewhere in the Rosharan System or did they manage to Disconnect enough to Leave the system entirely? Being Disconnected is a primary trait of the Nightwatcher, did she inherit that from The Night? Is the Nightwatcher's expressed purpose to search for, study, and or await the return of The Night? Also, apparently, "Back [in the day] when Bondsmiths bonded not to spren, but to the ancient forces, left by gods." Does that mean they were first Bonding the three Old Magic Spren directly and only later started Bonding the three Sibling Godspren that H&C created? What Gods plural "left them" if they supposedly predate even the Shattering? Is that just generically Pre-Shattering, or where there multiple active Gods in Adonalsium's time? Would that be referring to the Dawnshards of the day, or perhaps the Prime Aethers? Or Dragons? I dont know of any other godlike beings that were running around back then.
  23. I have an old theory I keep coming back to: The Story of Queen Tsa outlines a Green Celestial entity temporarily abdicating their power to experience a Day as a mortal, nearly getting tricked out of it, and instead seeing the Pale Blue celestial entity having a child with the temporary interloper (the 3rd Violet celestial entity plays no obvious role). Boil it down and assume it's talking about the Shards, and I think Cultivation set things in motion (intentionally or accidentally) that sort of tricked and/or cornered Tanavast into an act of Infidelity, which clashed with his Shard's Intent enough to drive him Mad and make him vulnerable to Shattering.
  24. It's a realmic thing, but I dont think we have any confirmed details beyond that fact:
  25. Im assuming the "Metabolize Lifelight" bit is more or less what Lift does. The Warmth itself could be innate to LifeLight (each Light has it's own associated Sensation) or it could be the same Warmth that Dalinar seems to sense every time he gets close to the Spiritual Realm.
