Actualy we know very little about prescience in the cosmere, only that atium can be used to look into the Cognitive Realm and that Elend saw the Spiritual Realm when he duraluminun-burned atium. And that it somehow involves the pure essence of a Shard, which is the only think that may link slightly to spiritweb comsumption. Athought I find it very unlikely that Kaladin had a Moelach-vision.

We don't know that for sure, you know...

Now you are being even more unfair. Everyone can be weak sometines, and everyone breaks if taken too far. While I sympathise with Szeth, I'd say he is the weaker of the two, for being too afraid to question his beliefs, which was all it would take for him to break free. Not saying it would be easy to just cast aside all he though was true since his birth, just that it would be easier than not giving up in a situation like the one Kaladin was in before almost diving into the Honor Chasm. -
Paalm? She surely thought she was a hero.

Completely unrealistic way... While Shallan's skills as a conwoman developed supernaturaly fast, I don't think it was any more fantastical than Kaladin's fighting skills. Also, I like his emo-philosophising :/

No, he didn't mean. I mean, in the original version he couldn't redirect the blow. In the new one he could. You can't use the fact he could in one to prove he could in the other. The way it was written, he didn't plan to kill Szeth, it just happened in the heat of the fight. Also, I don't think you have experiece swordfighting with stormlight -
Techinicaly, the Keepers were a group dedicated to preserving the knowledge of the world before the Final Empire, which was composed of most, if not all feruchemists that existed. But I myself am OK with using it as a name for full feruchemists.

A priceless relic that wouldn't just walj away... Really, it wouldn't slow him much to lash Szeth upwards before taking the Blade, and Kaladin sure cares more about lifes than shardblades, no matter how special. And in the original version he didn't choose to kill Szeth. His blow was a feint that could be easily parried, bit Szeth just didn't because he wanted to die and it happened too fast to change the course of his strike. Changing it was a waste that created plotholes for nothing. -
No, I am pretty sure he knew that. He just couldn't concieve that he having to rely on other people less smart than him thinking for themselves wasn't a bad thing.EDIT: What I mean is that Mr.T when writing the Diagram, despite all his intelligence, was wrong in assuming it was better for humanity to follow half-blindly an outdated super-plan instead of using what they had to adapt and think for themselves. To put it shortly, when his brain was the most powerful he forgot how useful the human brain is. The Nightwatcher does like complex irony if this is right.

I don't think so, it fits too well with his other thoughts. It would be a jarring coincidence if it was a Death Rattle.

Another point against the Diagram: it assumes it is the only way, and seeks to remove what it can't predict instead of seeing those things as possible opportunities or alternatives. Ideally, the Diagram should just give acurate predictions for some important events, knowledge that could be useful and a list of possible factors outside of its control and how they could be used or circunvented, leaving all the planning and execution to the readers. Instead we have an outdated monster plan that explains exactly how to take over the world and is so inflexible it must waste resources destroying everything out of its control, and possibly creating more losses and stray variables on the way. No great plan survives direct contact with reality. It seems that when Taravangian's intellect grows, so does his arrogance, and on the day he saw so much, he was unfortunately blind to the fact that he may have not seem enough, and that others could learn things he didn't. EDIT: Not that I think the Diagram is of Odium. I just want to point out what I perceive as some pratical flaws in its brand of the "ends justify the means" philosophy.

Random Cosmere Questions

The wording is very... vague in the books. Sometimes it is not ckear if they lash an object directly to another or towards its direction.- 29 replies

Random Stuff V - The Adminpire Strikes Back
DreamEternal replied to Orlion Blight's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Funny thing is, in the fantasy book I am trying to write art and corpses are the two most prominient physical components of the principal magic system. So... art does mix well catastrophically with the supernatural? -
Even without considering the reactions to his ideas, killing a great part of the population when a war or large calamity could happen at any moment could only make humanity more vulnerable, because who says they won't need workforce or soldiers for a big army? Or that if Mr.T decided all very smart people should hide in a shelter after he killed tge dumb ones they couldn't all be killed by a cymatic earthquake or something, making Odium's job easier. It isn't about intelligence vs. compassion, it is about intelligence+magalomania vs. compassion+sanity. Mr.T was thinking very big and very fast when he made the Diagram, but he sure as hell wasn't thinking straight.

Dark green is still considered darkeyed in vorin Roshar. Althought it is implied he was a very important person in Shinovar before becoming a Truthless. Still, Kaladin is much, much closer to tge avarage darkeyes than Szeth will ever be.

Paired Shards and Honour's Opposite
DreamEternal replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Stagnation is part of Preservation actualy. The Final Empire is pretty much a demonstration of the worst side of the intent. Thankfully Leras found a very complicated way to go against the shard's intent and not only destroy Ruin, but build a more prosperous world. Also, contempt is way to close to Odium. I'd say that if Honor's intent/mandate is actualy something closer to binding or pacts, them Endowment could be its partial opposite, by seeking to make things divide themselves, but not completely, for those dividing themselves are adding to others. Although I myself think Honor's true mandate is simetry in all its forms. In its social aspect, that could translate into justice and the golden rule. -
Paired Shards and Honour's Opposite
DreamEternal replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Cosmere Discussion
But they aren't opposites. Why would they be? You can control or be controlled by something you are devoted to, or seek to control others because of your devotion towards something, or attain soreveignity or mastery throught devoted effort. Why are they opposites then? -
Hrathen?

And as far as we know the surgebinding capacity is written directly in the spiritual bond between human and spren, since its strenght is directly proportionsl to the bond's. Trying to steal it could just damage the bond to the point of either freeing the spren or most likely killing it.

Actualy, we don't have any confirmation there are no more full feruchemists, do we? If they exist they most likely stay in Terris communities, and there is speculation Wax's grandmother may be one.EDIT: Ninjaed!

Paired Shards and Honour's Opposite
DreamEternal replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Cosmere Discussion
You know, dominion does not mean exactly that... It can mean soreveingty, mastery, control, order, rulership. To control something is not a bad thing, that depends only on how you use that control. Dominion and Devotion are not opposites, and while one may be "darker"(but not much, since irrational fanaticism is devotion) they seem to be able to go together most of the time. Also, if you didn't notice I do want for the Dor to be reunited into a single "Unity" double shard.
