  1. It also depends on which version you heard. From what I remember of Graphic Audio MeLaan, she sounded similar to Judge Whitey from Futurama. Long drawn out words with somewhat over enunciated vowels. I don't particularly remember Danlan's voice but I think I would have heard that. Also, the cast is generally pretty limited in audiobook. Usually with just one reader which can make it hard to create hundreds of unique voices for characters. Even in graphic audio, I believe there were only 2 voice actors on W&W (who I believe also voiced in Stormlight) since it was such a smaller book series.
  2. Yeah, I understood that part but I just thought there was something more immediate. I suppose Sak could have just been showing the abstract danger associated with the machine in a similar way to when she showed Sixth dead bodies before he entered the NITC compound. The bodies in those cases were dead but showed seemingly no sign of how it happened and therefore may be more about danger than death.
  3. I suppose it could also be so powerful as to harm those it detects. I don't know. I just think there is more to the machine.
  4. Well, the machine has always made me wonder how it would have caused death if it only let you detect investiture. The smaller version certainly seems bronzish in that it detects nearby sources of investiture but the machine itself seemed like it might do more than they first thought.
  5. Well, the Wax and Wayne series (Era 2) came about because Brandon was trying to expand the timeline to explain how the Catacendre lead to the developments that will be shown in Era 3 and beyond. The Set may therefore be limited to that Era with a new enemy developing in the next. That may just be my assumption though and perhaps the Red Haze, Trell, and the Set will not all be solved in the next book. It is sort of a lot to wrap up and there is also the worldhopper involvement with the Set that may mean it is not self contained. Perhaps it started self contained but expanded into something else that he decided to use in the worldbuilding of the next era though.
  6. I think starting with some of the less actiony stories like Elantris or Warbreaker is a good idea because it feels like a treat when you get to the more intense action of Mistborn or Stormlight (which many people prefer). Also, I have always felt that while the Shard can shape a person, a person can also shape a Shard. While the intent of the shard seems to establish limits and rules, what a person believes that intent should do is also important.
  7. I think it also depends on how much is left of each place after the Everstorm. Both tried to do something about their parshmen (or at least sent messages about it) but I feel like there is still going to be a lot of damage and fighting within their own kingdom and this is after a lot of loss and fighting has already occurred. I do agree that Dalinar and Taravangian are going to be opposing forces but I'm not sure I can see war on the horizon yet.
  8. Probably just because most other worlds had more obvious perpendicularities. We likely just haven't seen or recognized a Nalthis one yet. I think I mentioned before that while it is highly likely to be the Scadrian people, I am more interested in who among them it is. They seem to be highly manipulative and more interested in themselves seemingly to the detriment of the native population. Would this be the group representing the majority of Scadrial or just a small group similar to the Set (or I suppose the Set themselves provided they survive Era 2)? Also the connection medallion for translating worked in reverse.
  9. Well we don't know that it is impossible. As said it would certainly be difficult but Jasnah (while possibly one of the best) is likely not at the level of the past Radiants yet and may also get better with more oaths. I do agree it would likely be quite impossible for the soul to just return to the body by itself as people appear different in shadesmar than other things seen there. I do wonder if there are methods to help a soul do that before it has moved beyond.
  10. I think it would be interesting to see an accidental worldhopper somewhere.
  11. I think that is part of it. You are chosen by a certain spren because you already sort of embody the ideals that it stands for but the bond then also seemingly allows you to know and understand the ideals as it grows. I feel like it is not only the spren that becomes more aware due to the bond.
  12. It may depend on just how big the greatshell is. Time bubbles don't really like moving around at this point unless they are attached to something pretty big.
  13. Well, both seem to have the same problem. Why would you choose something like a cannon or bow that uses the shard in a way that has no effect on the other person? I am assuming that a shard has to touch a person to have its effect. It would probably make more sense to use a shard arrow or cannon ball instead.
  14. Yeah. It seems like the only limit we were given is in relation to the bow and arrow thing. I'm still unsure if that refers to parts that act separately or perhaps moving parts.
  15. I also thought that Lift implied that she knew the words already but never actually spoke them aloud.
  16. I feel like I don't necessarily mind the high number of Kholins who are Radiants but I kind of would like Adolin to be an unpowered counterpart to the other two in order to add to their story. I do worry more that a bunch of the people we have already met will turn out to secretly be Radiants though. I suppose it makes some sense for some already introduced people to make that transition but I think I would prefer more new characters. Perhaps I simply worry that the Radiants may currently have a larger focus on Alethkar due to their membership at the moment.
  17. Well, as I think was mentioned above, he did seem kind of voidbringerlike. The people of Roshar are not really known for their accepting nature's of different people/things.
  18. Yeah. After reading Edgedancer I just assumed that, after Wyndle was sent to Lift, they decided to keep bonding to more edgedancers. I also thought that Stump seeing a mirror would somehow fit a Truthwatcher better.
  19. The thing is, it seems like meeting the Heralds can not help strengthen their beliefs. They all seem broken and crazy. The Sons of Honor can only delude themselves for so long until they realize the have not ushered in a "new era of Vorin dominance" but instead probably destroyed Vorinism in its current form (although they seemingly actually had little actual part in returning the Voidbringers).
  20. Alright. That makes sense.
  21. Hmm. I forgot about that. I was just thinking that in the Final Empire it was rare for them to live very long anyway. That fact along with Human still being alive seems to indicate that Sazed changed their lifespan. We really need to see some Koloss and learn what happened to them.
  22. I've read this statement before but the FAQ once again states that Human the Koloss is alive. So, how long do Koloss normally live? I get why the Kandra are immortal; TLR specifically made them that way as a gift for following him. Did TLR just accidentally create another immortal race or are they just long lived (when they don't brutally murder each other)? Or was this Sazed's doing?
  23. Well, I think other pairings would lead to more interesting effects. It is somewhat logical what Harmony is from his components. Autonimous Hatred is not so easy to extrapolate.
  24. Some spren are also not visible to most people (despite existing in the physical realm) and we almost certainly haven't seen all of the different types that exist yet.
  25. I get what you are saying but I really don't think you can just distill it down like that. It isn't repeating himself if the journey to that ending is different. While I do think it is possible that Odium could win and that at some point we need to see the splintering process, I do think there are more options than what you are giving.
