  1. Yeah. A lot of people likely imagine characters that are like themselves even with physical descriptions that don't agree with that.
  2. I suppose there is a point there though. Especially ardents, who I believe would be the majority of surgeons (if I understand the society correctly) would likely oppose such experimentation. And we have seen the response that Lirin got to necessary surgery. But I suppose this raises the question of whether Aimians would be equally likely to not be experimented on for the same reasons.
  3. I thought so. Can't find any WoBs to back that up right now though. Also, if they are not then I doubt they would have gem hearts.
  4. I feel like if anyone is going to have a gemheart it is going to be the Listeners/Parshendi. Not to say that Aimians would not as those two are the only native sentient races to Roshar apparently. The problem is that I feel like if parshmen had gemhearts, then someone would have figured it out by now and they would in no way let the other parshmen handle their own dead.
  5. I will say that I am happy to see a lot of asian actors on the list. I do think that while it would be nice to get actors exactly as what Brandon imagined, it will be harder and more limiting. CGI changing of races is a complicated issue, particularly when they are races that actually exist (not normal fantasy races). I also would kind of prefer they go with some lesser known actors for a lot of parts because I feel like they will be more likely to stick with the series that way. As for the actual actors mentioned, some thoughts: Szeth is going to be hard. I have always pictured him like Aang from Avatar. I think it should be someone fairly young. I guess I always just pictured Dalinar as more muscular and imposing. Perhaps it is the shardplate. Not to say that the actors couldn't bulk up I suppose. I really picture Navani being older. I suppose Lucy Liu is even around the right age but she looks so young to me. Sadeas has to look more evil to me. Maybe that will be more about attitude but I kind of want him to look evil from the start. We need to expect the whole evil guy turns out to be good trope to get the most out of his betrayal. I could see Hoid being played like Tom Hiddleston played Loki but I do wonder about the size of the part. You really want someone who is willing to be the Stan Lee of the cosmere (with better acting hopefully). I can't see Bautista being able to do accents well. He is fine when he plays more to himself. It might be better to get someone with an accent as opposed to having them do one. It will kind of detract from the character if the funny part of him is the accent instead of his customs. Rose Leslie is pretty much how I picture Shallan looking but I'm not sure how much she could match the personality. I have only seen her in two things though so I could be wrong. Awkwardness is not always easy to portray (although some of us are just naturally gifted). Mark Shepperd has the Gaz personality down easy. I'm not sure about appearance but apparent he is from near Jah Kaved so it might make sense for him to appear of a different race. Pedro Pascal could play any of these characters (male or female) and I'd be fine with it. I think the other big question is what accent will they speak in? Will they go British or more American?
  6. Drominad could be interprered in several ways I assume. It could be another name for the planet as given by another group that lives on it. We know that other groups do not follow the naming conventions of the trappers. It could also be a second hand name that Khriss learned from The Ones Above. I do wonder if the stories are written about as though she is the author or how it is presented.
  7. Space elevator made of lifeless standing on each other's shoulders. Yeah. Every shard world technically already has something like the Oathgates to travel: a shardpool. We don't really know how they work yet though and other methods will certainly be possible.
  8. Forgive me for forgetting but does Hoid possess Feruchemical powers? We have apparently seem him use allomancy (despite the letter seemingly telling us that he kept the lerasium bead safe) but I don't see how he could have gotten feruchemy as well. Are we talking about a feruchemical gold equivalent power that he then combines with allomancy or true Scadrial compounding?
  9. Maybe this was more referring to metals that we haven't seen the effects for or ones that are not easily useful without other feruchemical or allomantic abilities. Chromium, bendalloy, or maybe Electrum. The effects may not be readily visible and therefore discounted. I assume since we know the effects of all of the metals from the Ars Arcanum, I assume they are all know in universe (or cosmere) as well.
  10. I highly doubt that Lift is done stealing or will remain out of trouble. It is possible that the whole situation has changed her but I kind of don't think it will be that easy. As for Szeth, I'm not really sure how he could come back from what he has done. Even if someone like Kaladin forgives him, the rest of the world will likely not. I think another interesting way to go would be him being killed by Kaladin who sees it as the right thing to do to protect people and then a bunch of people coming forward to show that he had changed and was trying to help people.
  11. I suppose I didn't think of it like that.
  12. The thing I am really wondering is why Hoid found Jasnah in the first place. I mean it may be that even he doesn't know that yet but I don't think his power would have led him there just to meet her and then go back. I suppose it may have been just to get her to Urithuru but I hope there is more to it than that.
  13. That is kind of what I meant earlier. It seems more like the Set believes they are working towards taking over Scadrial and their faceless immortals don't care about Scadrial at all outside of its use to them. I think the Set is solely the Scadrial based part of a larger group. They may not even be actually part of that group but instead its puppet that is being thrown away since it is no longer useful. I'm still not sure of the Trell involvement and if the group doesn't really care about Scadrial, I do wonder why a Shard would risk going against a more powerful Shard like Harmony.
  14. But see, we don't know that the Set created them. They seem to be the ones in charge on Scadrial and if the Set created them then why would they allow that (these are seemingly the most power hungry people on the planet). I suppose if the Set did create them, they could still be in charge if they have a more direct connection to a Shard like Odium as the Kandra have to Harmony though.
  15. I have imagined Pathians to be similar to Buddhists. I also don't see that The Path is likely to show much change in the future. I think it has too much connection to Terris (though surprisingly little specific mention during any scenes in The Village, so I may be wrong.) Vin and Elend being demonized seems unlikely unless Elendel changes drastically. They are too visible to forget easily. We also don't know when exactly the Space Opera Era will take place. I think it will be at max only around 100 years later (no WoB just estimation). The 350 years of change we have seen might seem to indicate major changes as you have said but I think the Religions will stall similar to the slow development of technology. Established religions generally only see major changes by branching off in my mind.
  16. I was under the impression that other than the enslaved parshmen, the group of Listeners in the shattered plains were the only ones but that group was itself composed of many previously separate smaller groups that came together (I thought inter-tribe warring was mentioned.) I suppose it would make sense that Parshendi from further away might not be able to make it to the Shattered Plains easily. I wonder where else they could hide as easily though.
  17. I just thought of that when I read the post above you. I think it is possible because as the kandra generations showed, you can raise them in different ways to ensure certain traits like loyalty develop. I purposely used the term faceless immortals before though because that is what Edwarn called them and I do not really believe that they are kandra. I do not believe mistwraiths were specifically seen or said to still exist in the AoL Era (opposite not said either). I think it is mentioned that the kandra population is decreasing but I think that was because of spike availability more than anything.
  18. I think it unlikely that there will be another "surprise, they were with the Set the whole time" plotline. It would be anticlimactic at this point. I do think that it is possible that she may die but I don't see how Wax would make it past the death of another person he loves, especially if he is able to blame himself for it. I suppose they both could pull a Vin and Elend and die together.
  19. It'd probably be more someone trying to tell him his costume is wrong.
  20. Yeah I thought that might be it too. Acording to a lot of his annotations, Brandon thinks a lot of people skip epigraphs. Hoid never gave Shallan a name from what I recall. Hence her callin him 'You.'
  21. The mention of the letter is interesting as well. Most epigraphs in cosmere books are in relation to something that is relevant to the specific story in which it is mentioned and can therefore be easily understood when one completes the series. The letter is likely not something that could be easily understood with just Stormlight unless in the coming books Hoid actually tells some characters who he is or where he comes from,.
  22. Yeah, it may be more about power (or perceived power). Some people have been with them longer and are more powerful and some people prove their uses and are given more power. I have wondered if the Set was just the Scadrial based arm of a larger group of which the worldhoppers and faceless immortals were involved. They seemed to be being used more than actually being an important part of the group. I suppose we will see depending on the Telsin storyline in the next book.
  23. Yeah. I really think it is important to note that Hoid could and likely will get some kind of Roshar conclusion. Obviously his story has parts from before his time as Wit and he seems to have goals in mind besides Odium for after Roshar, but I think he has a specific purpose in Stormlight besides being an easter egg.
  24. We are Cosmere nerds. Not sure if that is better or worse. Bigger though.
  25. I kind of want to know if it is possible for him to get squire abilities like the rest of Bridge 4.
