  1. We don't actually know, but it seems quite likely. He's done a male/female book focus pattern so far, so it'd make sense.
  2. Until we get more concise details about the specific events and timing, I can still see ways around this. The Stormfather's immensity might have allowed him to hang on longer than just immediate death, and Tanavast's timing was cutting it close. The system may have been broken without him, but if the timegap between his death and Honor's death was short enough to fit between two storms(say.. during the Weeping), then he may have been able to correct it. The Stormlight being filtered through the Stormfather may be a recent thing that happens because of Honor's Shadow. The system may have ways around this to keep running. (I know the "life finds a way" argument isn't very good, but I'll include it for completeness) Oh. Yea never mind, Maelstrom is probably right.
  3. Venli is Eshonai's older sister. The researcher who discovered Stormform. Presumably, she survived the Battle of Narak, because villain set-up. I don't actually have a name for the general you are thinking of, but it wasn't Venli. Thude perhaps? Rlain was a former spy in the Warcamps yes, but he's made it to KR Squire status already, so who knows. I brought them both up because if Venli is back in Eshonai's book, Eshonai has better odds of being a Radiant so Brandon can set up another "Kaladin v Szeth-esque" scenario between the two. Otherwise, Rlain is a good candidate.
  4. Given that Aon definitions are less descriptions and more "words," there could easily be as many Aons as there are words in the English language. We know Raoden read a notebook written entirely in Aons. To do that, we'd need to learn a lot more Aons than we currently have, so there must be more. While I agree with you, it is good to remember that Dakhor itself is a recent discovery.
  5. This is still debated, as far as I'm aware. I was under the impression that the only reason the Stormfather "survived" the Recreance is because Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow bonded with him. For the topic itself, the relevant passage showing that he did suffer the Recreance. Skybreakers bond Highspren. Elsecallers bond Inkspren(at least, Ivory is one). The others are an unknown though.
  6. All the relevant WoB's on whether Parshmen/Parshendi can become Radiants have "in the past, no" or "if you asked somebody in-world, they'd say no." There are 4 WoB's. This practically shouts out "exception." Now as to whether Eshonai is the Parshendi Radiant, that we can't say. She certainly seems to fit Willshaper pretty well, but recently I've become uncertain. I'll get back to you the next time we see Venli or Rlain.
  7. I made sure to mention that uncertainty when I added the Roshar subheading to the Aluminum page. I think that you can't, but without proof, we don't know.
  8. Or they could do that. I'm imagining they reach a point where all of that maneuvering just goes nowhere and they start having more casual discussion. Sadeas likes(or at least approves of) political maneuvering in discussion, so he'd participate. Rashek would be right at home in such a discussion, having to deal with the noblemen back when he attended the Balls. Taravangian wouldn't really be doing much different than he already was. And Hrathen understands the value of logic beyond blind devotion Legitimate discussion would be both fascinating and entertaining. The subtle manipulations games working in the background and all...
  9. Rashek and Hrathen would be an amazing conversation. Personally, I'd like Taravangian to be involved rather than Sadeas, but that might be my prejudice towards liking Taravangian more. Rashek, Hrathen, Taravangian, Sadeas, and maybe another person, just sitting around a table discussing philosophy... This would definitely be worth reading.
  10. I figured that the native Iri(now Riran) people had blonde hair, which is why the foreign Iriali(who likely went by a different name) chose to settle there to fit in. There are more or less no details about when Iri/Rira split, with exception to something that I can't nail down which made me think it was a less violent split.
  11. Crucible linked Pagerunner's thread in one of the answers here. Shortcut If it's important to the topic and isn't in the OP, 8 out or 10 times, it'll be at the end. (Recent revelations type deals are either post 2 or final post)
  12. Last post in Pagerunner's thread
  13. This could be a combination of his spike and his madness, putting him into a state that couldn't be reached by madness or spikes alone, where Ruin can read his mind.
  14. No. He gets spiked and passes out at the end of Chap 16, and wakes up in the burning building in Chap 19. He is then led to a table with the vials, and told he can use Pewter. However, the chapter summary explains why he doesn't notice the pain before taking the pewter. His Savanthood drawbacks. He doesn't feel the pain because he can hardly feel anything without Tin. Not to mention the blood loss probably messed with him too
  15. He can influence them to ignore the pain so that they can cause mayhem. He may be able to use the logic of "which action will cause more ruin?" to justify it to his Intent if need be. Come to think of it, could he not be feeling too much pain because he's burning pewter?
  16. It's one of several entries that I've associated with Yata to find them again because he's the one who posts them on the Shard.
  17. Regarding the One, have the other question that Botanica asked Peter I know that "maybe" third most ambiguous answer we can get, but it makes sense. I also feel that the 7th Land may be Yolen if the One is Adonalsium. So... Taldain, ??, Nalthis, Roshar, 5, 6, 7. We have 4 unknowns, and 6/7? options: Yolen, Scadrial, Threnody, Sel, Ashyn, Braize. I'd like Yolen to be the 7th land. As to the others: Braize seems unlikely, while Ashyn could work. Scadrial could go either way, as it's creation may be unknown to the Iri(no idea what a planet coming into existence would look like in the CR) Threnody is still valid because all Peter said is that Roshar is the 4th "planet." Not Shardworld, planet. My issue with that is timeline. Iri was a Silver Kingdom in the Heraldic Epochs 4,500+ yrs ago. Vo was ~600 years ago. I feel like the Iri/Riran people suddenly becoming golden-haired in the last few centuries feels off, but I like your points about the flowers... Hrmm. Mid typing Edit: ohhh.. Kaladin thinks that Adolin's mother is Riran due to the blond hair. If blond hair had a precedent, the Iri settling down there too would help them not stand out. They take the name of Iri because that's the people they are joining with. Perhaps this is what led to Iri and Rira having a split to begin with.. I need to look up details on things again
  18. She helped Honor in some way. That expended power plus what she has tied up in the Rosharan System could easily be enough for her to think she is just as weak as Odium. Combine that with the grief from her SO dying affecting her judgement, and it seems reasonable that she didn't try to kill him then and there.
  19. Jokes aside, good question, I actually don't recall chainmail being mentioned in the books. Toaster is essentially correct(unless I'm missing something obvious) Shardplate is just too central to combat developments. Chainmail isn't gonna help you take on a Shardbearer, and that's all that really matters. Consider what Kaladin was wearing in the first chapter as a soldier in Amaram's army. Not much in the way of metal, much less plate or mail.
  20. On the contrary, none of them actually imply morality. I can hate murderers and saviors alike, with no regard for "one is a good guy." Even cold-blooded killers can have a Code of Honor, doesn't suddenly make them the good guy. I can cultivate good habits just as easily as bad habits. None of the 10 Shards we currently know have any morality tied to their Intent. As for Cultivation, it isn't creation. It's improvement. Prune away the weeds to cultivate the flower. Prune away corruption to cultivate society. Be careful about thinking that Cultivation doesn't want to destroy everything. She could easily reach a point where the best option is to wipe the slate clean and try again(meteor wipes out dinosaurs -> Earth-life v2 begins)
  21. From further down that tvtropes article: "This trope is the Evil Counterpart of the Redshirt Army, which are Mooks on the good side." So yes, that's exactly the difference. That moment always bugged me. I think her being "unchanged" by Stormform was meant to imply she had tried it out before. The changes of both mind and body from Stormform were familiar to her, so she was changed, but she was already comfortable with that change, so her calm/in-control demeanor remained unchanged. Eshonai may have picked up on it, but at that point it was too late. There was a fair portion of the Parshendi that resisted. Eshonai and her soldiers rounded them up, likely intending to kill them. They escaped and their current whereabouts are unknown. I don't have high hopes of them surviving the maelstrom Kaladin and Szeth were fighting in, but any survivors shouldn't be in Stormform. You also forget the situation they were in. They were a people facing extinction, which makes desperate measures commonplace. Additionally, the loyalty that Eshonai's soldiers had for her is what made them accept the transformation. She approved of the new form(after the transformation), and they trusted her judgement. If that trust hadn't been there, I doubt many would have taken up her offer.
  22. Specialization. And in Hoid's case, his "special luck." He knows where and when to go, and sometimes what to do when he gets there(his only taking one bead instead of both). He tried to become an Elantrian, despite the power only being usable on Sel. He clearly knows things we don't, so if he has a reason to alloy the Lerasium, that's all the validation we need.
  23. Oh almost certainly. I think the sticking power that got it to that level is that the second definition of discord is "lack of harmony between notes sounding together." We've gotten so paranoid that we start making connections at every possible opportunity. You only need 8 hrs of sleep. Besides, the actual "day" is about 16 hrs. (6am - 10pm) Both of those mesh with a 12 hr window
