You misunderstand what I was referring to. I've had this ecosystem/Stormfather argument before with Calderis. I do not intend to go through it again. The Stormfather existed before Honor arrived too. The implication of this WoB implies that his death would have broken the system.

Always feel free to jump in if you have something to add. Makes discussions feel more interactive, and sometimes we all learn something new This is true. We made a joke back in the day about a wizard sitting at a bar thinking about the good old days where he just made a fireball and people were amazed. Brandon has taken his magics a bit far, turning Investiture into a third building block alongside matter and energy, writing a fourth law of thermodynamics(which he still wont tell us about, by the way), and more. Most all of his magics operate on some level of real world physics, even if he's had to stretch the rules a bit

You caveat makes sense, but since the WoB said "trying to clean out a compounder," Metalminds are the first assumption Edit: It makes sense @Extesian. Had forgotten about that WoB.
-
Fair enough. There's one entry with the tag "Feruchemical" though, just to mess with us. (It's about the Feruchemy Chart, nothing of note, but it's there.)

Good luck. Quick reminder that you have to search "word," "worded," "wording" and the tag "word" separately. Theoryland likes the exact match function, and it's annoying. If you do find it, more power to you

Short and simple premise today. I found a WoB and didn't know what to do with it. Chromium(Leecher) can drain Metalminds. Nicrosil(Nicroburst) cannot. (which was news to me, who just thought it was unknown) Question 1: Why? Question 2: Do Aluminum/Duralumin follow this pattern? Question 3: Opinions on what this means for the magic/the future?

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
The One Who Connects replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yep. Just gotta wait until we get Elantris 2 and learn about Dakhor(and Fjordell in the process). -
I was away for 2 full years. Catching up was kinda mandatory, though I admit I may have taken it a bit far.

Oh right, my honorary Physics degree that I earned while trying to participate in Pagerunners "Chemistry of God Metals" thread and many others. Fair enough

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
The One Who Connects replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Not specifically. The situations you describe are the root behind his questions. or at least, they were the center of that kind of debate years ago -
Must be somewhere i don't often frequent, like general discussion or the fanfic area. Having read everything in the Cosmere Subheading, nothing was really surprising

Well, it's neither of the 2 with the "Metalmind" tag, so that's something. There's only 134 with the Feruchemy tag, but without any iterations of store/tap, I don't know how they would word the question. Ok, so nothing but the one below containing the word "store." Absolutely nothing containing the words "taps" or "stores." Edit v2. The tags Feruchemy and Feruchemical have nothing. No instance of the words "Feruchemy," "Feruchemist," "Feruchemical," or "Storage" have anything either. I have officially ran out of words that I can feasibly think of showing up in the question or answer. Due to the number of terms that are proven to not be in this WoB, going through the Mistborn tag and its 820 results feels pointless. I'm sorry that I can't find it, but I've run out of options. How old do you think this WoB is? A semi-recent one could be in events and signings... @Oversleep I found one that essentially says you can store and tap at different rates, but this still might not be what you are looking for

I can technically rectify this pretty easily. How many people actually call him Sazed? How many people call him Harmony? He could just tell the Pathians that the metal is "of him" and they'd call it Harmonium on their own. And we know it has another name he hasn't interfered with: Ettmetal.
-
Nothing in Pagerunner's list containing "store," "storing," tap," "tapping," or "rate." Nothing in Theoryland containing "stored," "storing," "tapped," or "tapping." So far, there's this one, but it doesn't seem like what you're looking for Wait, might it one of these? There's currently 240 results containing "store," so that'll be a while. I'll just post now and tag you if I find something else later

This whole site is a collection of rabbit holes disguised as coherent conversations. Look around for a bit. You'll find answers to most anything you wanted to know, and several things you weren't aware you wanted to know.

Atium and Lerasium both sound neat. Sazedium doesn't. That is at least my take on it. You're half right Toaster. The metal would actually be called Sazedium, but Harmony decreed differently, and his word is law, as it were. Not that it really matters, since the only in-world name it currently has is Ettmetal.

We asked Brandon. It's 86% of the facts that you never knew.

Kaladin is more honourable than Dalinar?
The One Who Connects replied to discorat's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm pretty sure it's only because Kaladin has started a Spren bond already. He's further down the path than Dalinar is at that time, so logically, he is "closer to Honor." It's not really accurate to their actions, but one scale does not necessarily equate to another. -
It's not something I did(unless mental notes count), but you can always mark down a chapter/page/passage down for later to reread through. Something struck you as odd while reading, but you've got no clue why? Mark it down and read it again. Backstory filler scene? Probably had something worth checking out. I think the biggest thing to getting the most out of his stories is to accept that you aren't gonna get all the references the first time through. That paranoia of "did I miss something important?" and "Is this guy a worldhopper/herald/etc..?" will detract tremendously from the experience. Save it for the rereads. Also, check out the scenes that were dull/uninteresting the first time around. You might accidentally miss some details here and there, but you'll intentionally miss things if you always skip the slow scenes. Lastly, do what you're doing now: Talking about stuff on here. We all learn something new from time to time, and it gives scenes new depth that they didn't have before. if you don't mind the spoiler about a certain character being a Herald, this bit is the definitive example:

Thinking about Words and SA's Endgame
The One Who Connects replied to Frostlander's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not too shabby. It's a pretty good write-up, and quotes from the books are essentially sources. All things considered, I like the theory There's a few slight misconceptions in there, but they aren't game-breaking ones. Voidbringers cannot hold Stormlight in perfectly. Have the entry Pagerunner is talking about for Division- 4 replies

Top 10 theories going into Oathbringer
The One Who Connects replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
Odds are it's because it's in Events and Signings. That or you forgot it's Maxal's post(my shortcut to find it, as usual) @Jonathon The exact reasons are unknown, but we know that they wanted to be called the Releasers. The name didn't catch on. -
I'm aware of what statement you were responding to. That statement of mine was in response to you saying "But [Ruin] went to the beyond straight away. Tanavast stayed for some reason." You implied that Tanavast chose to stay, and I was trying to point out that he didn't have to choose. Ati leaving was a choice. Tanavast staying did not have to be a choice. Merging with the Stormfather was a choice, but it doesn't have to relate to choosing not to move on. For all we know, he did what he did to save the Stormfather(to keep the Highstorm ecosystem running). It's certainly the more Honor oriented choice than the self preservation instinct.

Words Of Radiance Changes Pole
The One Who Connects replied to Ammanas's topic in Stormlight Archive
I kinda have to agree with Brandon and consider the change as a pretty minor one. I'm having a lot of difficulty seeing how the change can even affect the story. All he has to do is have Kaladin encounter a similar situation, where he remembers the last time he was faced with an opponent who had given up. Have him remember the urge to end Szeth, to finish the fight once and for all(referencing the original ending where he did kill him, and giving added depth to his hesitation before swinging in the new ending). He remembers that darkness within him, and vows not to let it control him again. Page and a half, maybe 2 if includes resolving the situation with whomever he's fighting. -
Top 10 theories going into Oathbringer
The One Who Connects replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
And that wouldn't technically count, as the month is Chach(3). The week and day are both "an"(2). I feel like this is pre-planned revenge for finding the Warbreaker Terriswoman. -
