Venli is her sister, so it could showcase the dynamic between the two and let us learn more about both of them. Brandon could even do some/half of the Flashbacks from Venli's PoV and the rest of them from Eshonai's(though I'm not sure if he'd do this). The thing about the flashbacks is that they tell a mini-story of their own, and that story is relevant to the larger book(sometimes extremely, as in OB). That story needs to be told, and if Brandon thinks the story will still work best from Eshonai's PoV, then I'm willing to give it a chance.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
The One Who Connects replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'd make a statement about having too much time on my hands, were it not for the fact that 74 of these took under an hour to come up with... might be a record. Oathbringer Spoilers abound because today, we're discussing the Unmade: 81(9x9) Questions. (93 now. New questions marked with *) I'm not that up to date with the Q&A/Signings from the Oathbringer Release Tour, so if any of these have been answered already, feel free to inform me. Edit Log: -
Preservation knew quite a bit about it.

Just because he is on the Dawnsinger's side, doesn't mean he necessarily sided with Odium. Make inferences:

[OB] The Sibling of Urithiru
The One Who Connects replied to Head Crabs's topic in Stormlight Archive
Maybe it was released from the Fabrial. I imagine that bonding with the Stormfather and the others would be more of an agreement(normally, Dalinar excluded). Whomever made the City-Fabrial could have made a deal with the Sibling, rather than forcibly trapping it. There's an epigraph mention of some of the cities functions not working anymore, perhaps due to the Sibling being released?- 35 replies

[OB] The Weeping a brainstorming exercise
The One Who Connects replied to MonsterMetroid's topic in Stormlight Archive
On the reason for the Weeping... given that there is a Highstorm in the middle of the Weeping every two years, I don't think it's about gathering up Stormlight. I think it's better to look at the Weeping as part of the pattern of Highstorms. There are also a few other WoB's people don't bring up enough: -
There have been two discussion on this thus far: here. & here. Feel free to peruse them, but the general consensus is that it should be a Listener Song. Personally, I'd want a song we don't have anything about yet, but who knows.

[OB] The Sibling of Urithiru
The One Who Connects replied to Head Crabs's topic in Stormlight Archive
They is gender-neutral, so Brandon can get away without using a "he/she." They can also be singular, for that exact reason. I use "they" far more often than "he" or "she" in my natural vocab, so this might just be me, but I don't see anything out of place when reading that passage.- 35 replies

I thought that was what I said. What did it look like I was saying? Edit: Genuinely surprised this hasn't happened before. No worries. -
[OB] Oathbringer not as big as Words of Radiance
The One Who Connects replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Grapevine is correct. Brandon has mentioned that they were nearing the limits of what their system could bind, so the options were either get a new book binding system, use smaller margins, use smaller text, or use thinner paper. Given that the book is thinner, I think it's pretty clear which option won out in the end. -
[OB] Odium (and Dalinar) (and Honor) (and Cultivation)
The One Who Connects replied to Leyrann's topic in Stormlight Archive
Syl is young(in comparison), and her understanding involves what he is now, rather than what he was then, because she wasn't around to know. The Parshendi Song only mentions spite and control, neither of which are that definitive. Seeking to "take control" could involve him wanting to be the only Shard. Spite holds a little more water, but spite is the desire to hurt, annoy or offend. He want to kill the other Shards, so there's his spite. Spite alone lacks the context that could tie it to Odium/Passion. I'll still hold Frost's information as not 100% certain until we learn whether the Vessels knew what it was they were picking up before they picked it up. Otherwise, he's doing the same "guess the missing godlike aspects" game we are, albeit with more information. Unless Frost somehow just knows, then he has to build an assumption on the Intents based on what they've done, and Odium has done some pretty hateful things. Frost isn't a Shard, and because of that, there are some things he just isn't able to know unless somebody else told him. I wouldn't be too upset if such an intelligent source happened to be wrong here, since the logical conclusion of Hatred makes sense. Detail some of these "virtues," if you would. I don't see any reason that Passion cannot exist without virtues for context. It's why we label things as "all-consuming," as they get rid of the virtues that gave them context. Hatred isn't the only "all-consuming" type of passion out there, after all. Ruin didn't really misrepresent himself, all things considered. Mistborn Spoilers As for what's going on with Odium, I find it notable that Ruin's "misleading" didn't really contain any lies. I imagine that Odium's spiel is also true, but from what point of view? What statements lack additional context that might change how they are looked at? Assuming he's telling the truth, how is he telling the truth? That's what I'm trying to figure out now. [I think the difference is that you are trying to prove him wrong, while I'm testing out him being right. We start with a different assumption about his veracity, but we both take that assumption and apply it to what we know he's done.] -

[OB] Odium (and Dalinar) (and Honor) (and Cultivation)
The One Who Connects replied to Leyrann's topic in Stormlight Archive
The exploits of the Assassin in White were done by a man ruled by his honor. To quote a music critic(of all people): "What I'm trying to say is there's a spectrum to these things, and often one extreme is just as bad as the other." When? I distinctly remember him stating(twice) that he isn't absolved of his crimes. Something about "common mistake stonewalkers make" and "drowning in what I am owed." None of them seem as tied to "Odium" as you think. Several seem to incite passions of one sort or another. Passion for food(glutton), sex(lust), violence(the Thrill), etc.. Not sure on Yelig-Nar either, beyond Passion for Power(as contrived as that would be). Precog(Moelach) gets us nowhere on any front, so we'll toss him out for now. Ashertmarn - gluttony, indulgence, lust, debauchery, these are all excesses of something. Your seven deadly sins comparison is a good one, but those are examples of passion for something taken to extreme. There's a difference between liking/being passionate about food/sex/gratification/etc.. and glutton/lust/indulgence/etc.. for it. Here's a passion argument on Re-Shephir. She's all about imitation, but she's mostly drawn towards violent acts. Unless I'm forgetting, all of our violent acts have been heat of the moment acts, or "crimes of passion." Those involve strong emotions, so they call her attention more than more simple acts. She also had one of her Essence watching Shallan's Lightweaving Play, so I could be off-base, but it's a start. Ooh.. here's a way to look at it. Odium(Void) takes things away, yes? It stands to reason that the Unmade should reflect that too. Taking it back to Gluttony, what if the Unmade take away self-control? Gluttony, Greed, Indulgence, Lust, Debauchery, they all could be attributed to a loss of self-control in some form or another. I'm gonna run with this now, here goes nothing: Nergaoul incites darker passions for violence and destruction, things normally held back by your own self-control. Yelig-Nar might be a literal case of handing over self-control, given that he seems to consume his vessels if they can't control him. Sja-Anat takes some/all of the control away from Spren she corrupts, allowing her to use them as spies and messengers. Moelach's "subjects" can refuse to say what they see, but they still speak. Holding your tongue is a manner of self-control, and none of them have it during a Rattle. Ashertmarn was already explained. Re-Shephir though... She's gonna be an issue. I can't link imitation to self-control. Wild Speculation: Bo-Ado-Mishram - Forcibly removing her from the Parsh took something away from them. If she replaces whatever it is she takes from them, perhaps there's a parallel to be drawn to Yelig-Nar here. (I am also curious what she normally did, since "doing what Odium did" for the Parsh isn't relevant when Odium is around) We have WoB that picking up pieces of Shards and twisting his Intent(however mildly) isn't something he's willing to do. However, I do like the idea that it was originally Passion. Rayse was a "loathsome and crafty individual," so him expressing a darker side of Passion in how he filters the Shard's Intent seems believable. I feel like any sufficiently passionate person would be a good fit for Passion, regardless of which side of that spectrum they are on(Hatred, Zeal, Love, etc..), and that could affect how such a Shard would be "named" by those around it. There was a WoB regarding Intents and synonyms(that was posted in a different topic, it appears), and depending on which usage of Passion you define, you could have Rage, Lust, Enthusiasm, Obsession, and Compulsion as potential synonyms. -
With exception to the Stormfather, Living Spren can't really go that far away from their Radiant. You've lost me here. What are you trying to say? At close range, sure. At medium range, maybe. But arrows aren't as near-instant as bullets are. Larger projectiles would travel slower and/or slow down more, not to mention that the arrows for Sadeas' Grandbow didn't appear terribly aerodynamic(IIRC), and all of these make it worse the further out you go. There's also the idea that one should be able to see a javelin flying at them(I'd probably excuse that in the chaos of battle though). Maybe I need to actually read/reread scenes involving the usage of Grandbows, but I'm clearly not as impressed with their capabilities as you seem to be. Also, aren't arrowheads(the older types anyway) more flattened than round? Depending on the alignment of the arrowhead at the moment of entry, that extra width from being up-sized could be facing up and down, which would miss the spine entirely. You'd probably hit one of the hearts, but I don't remember/know where the gemheart is properly located, so I can't speak to that. (Parshendi still have a normal heart for a circulatory system right? Hoping I'm not misremembering details) So we do. Depending on how changed the various Forms of the Fused and Regals are, the exact location might shift around, but it's good to know nonetheless.
-
Yea, arrows aren't actually all that good when I put any thought into it. Shardarrows would slide right through a living enemy, so there's no impact force imparted into the target. Arrowheads are just too small to consistently cut the "core" of a limb, especially on a moving target. And especially on larger targets like Chasmfiends/Thunderclasts. Center-mass is lovely with real bullets, but I don't see a gut wound from a Shardblade doing much of anything. There wouldn't even be internal bleeding. Spren have a maximum range that they can go away from their Radiant, so you may as well use throwing knives instead of arrows. Community opinion is that Spren can only change their weapon-form when in physical contact with their KR. So no expanding arrows(not that those would work anyway, aerodynamics are still a thing, no?) I don't know enough about the Fused to posit which of the brain/heart/gemheart is actually vital anymore. I'm curious how "alive" a gemheart is for the purpose of will/won't get cut though.

What's he got to complain about? Rocks are just rocks. If he didn't have any complaints about [Spoilers] using an Honorblade against people in WoK/WoR, then using Nightblood on rocks is fine.

He didn't. It was Tanavast, in one of Honor's pre-recorded visions.

stormlight archive Destroyed Shardplate
The One Who Connects replied to Somber Alchemy's question in Cosmere Q&A
Presumably just one, but we know for a fact that you don't need all of them. Dalinar thinks it to himself after the Battle of the Tower, something about retrieving his fallen glove. Basically, two people can try fueling different parts to regrow the rest of the plate, and the one with the larger part will win out in the end. It'll disintegrate the smaller piece as it regrows a new one(for reasons unknown, but probably relating to identity, so there is only one unique set), but having to compete with another party, even if they will lose(glove vs rest of the armor) will make it take longer. It might have something to do with overcoming the Investiture being poured into the other part in order to disintegrate it, but I have no evidence. (Stormlight heals Shardplate, so when healing your plate would disintegrate the smaller part, you have to overcome its Investiture to destroy it, and that will take longer if another party is fueling it with more Investiture) Basically, rewrite: The largest fragment of the Shardplate being fueled will grow into the full set of armor. You cannot cheat the system to make multiple suits of plate, and regrowing one part will disintegrate the other pieces. Fueling multiple parts makes the process take longer, and the party with more Stormlight could end up regrowing the smaller piece if the other party runs out/gives up. -
stormlight archive Destroyed Shardplate
The One Who Connects replied to Somber Alchemy's question in Cosmere Q&A
When Shardplate gets "destroyed," it explodes into fragments. So long as you have one of those fragments, you can feed Stormlight to it and regrow the Plate. I have no idea how it works(since Plate is composed of multiple distinct pieces), but it does. The only way to actually destroy Shardplate would be something like Nightblood. Anything else just fragments it into pieces(getting swept into a river or buried in crem doesn't count as destroyed in my opinion, merely lost to time.) -
Fights you would like to see?
The One Who Connects replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Not necessarily. Cleaning out a Compounder takes a while to do, and that's time that TLR could easily kill a Leecher and/or Double-Steel away from a Primer Cube. Leeching also drains uninvested metals first(Allomantic Reserves) before draining Invested Metals(Metalminds) so depending on how much of the basic metals he has for Allomancy, his Atiumminds might not even be messed with. -
I don't think Hemalurgy can spike in/out the need(or lack thereof) for water. That said, there is a possible way for Hemalurgy to provide Ettmetal in Allomantically viable form. Referencing that one time I called Hemalurgy safer than Allomancy: In addition to the aforementioned moving heart/brain out of the way, Hemalurgic Spikes wounds should also heal, or else Marsh would've bled out when Vin yanked the spike out of his eye(There's also Vin's earring.) A barrier like that, away from organs and possibly even blood would be pretty water-free, but still "internal" enough to be burned. Edit: it might still explode when spiking such and such ability out of the first person though. Which would be a problem.

Why dodge when you can destroy? You already unsheathed Nightblood, why not make use of it.
