  1. Ok, I cannot currently find the WoB I was thinking off on theoryland. I can't find the interferes with investiture one either, so I think it might be the site acting up or that mobile is just bad at midnight. Will update if I find things tomorrow
  2. I remember Brandon saying that emotional Allomancy isn't affected by the edges of the bubble, so I can see the physical "pull" of a Lurcher going through it unaffected. In that same WoB IIRC, he implies that because of the time alteration, that said soother/rioter could do more with less or something to that effect. I do not know for sure if that would necessarily equate to your 10x math, but the reasoning appears to be fairly solid.
  3. Short answer: We don't know. Long answer: Brandon has said that compounding copper could do some interesting things. Various speculation abounds here and there about what that meant. That's all we really have to go on so far.
  4. Not quite. Secondly, The Skaze are pretty much splinters of Dominion. So Odium is only involved insofar as allowing them to come into being by killing Dominion. I will say that if the voices are related to the Unmade in some way, then the "voices" could just be the touch of Splinters on things, just as you can hear Spren/Seons talk. It could still be an intriguing connection, but maybe not to the extent you are thinking.
  5. From what I remember, I don't think SH directly spoils anything in Wax/Wayne era. Most (if not all) of it takes place before the next set. I may be forgetting something, but I personally don't think it'd be a big deal if you read SH first.
  6. So I checked the edit history of Adonalsium's page on the Coppermind. That little tidbit was added on January 3, 2017 at 11:31. Which translates to 3 days + an hour ago. Meaning it is not common knowledge unless someone has looked at his page in that timeframe. This is just me being thorough becasue I did not remember it having that before. You can check it out for yourself: Revision Comparison.
  7. There's another WoB (about A-Pewter, technically) where Brandon says that while he imagines Pewter gives double strength and a flare gives triple, he isn't sure about things like speed or health. He admits that he hasn't canonized some of these things. Edit: oh yea, I have an image for easy reference
  8. Given Wyrn's vision in Elantris, I'd say it's entirely possible that they could know that. But our options on that front are they knew and didn't do it, they knew and someone tried to tempt fate, or Wryn didn't see fit to tell them about that. Or he didn't get a vision about Shai's ability, which is just as likely.
  9. Given Nalan's comment at the end of WoR about how he "imagines that Szeth has already seen the newly dead restored to life" it felt pretty obvious that Szeth wasn't the only one practicing with the Honorblades. I got the impression he was the only one sent out of Shinovar, which does beg the question of why they gave him the only one they could use to train in the Three Lashings.
  10. I meant it more in the sense of her power being more.. spread out, rather than consolidated within her being, if that makes sense.
  11. Yea this bit was just an argument of technicality and semantics. Here's some relevant WoB's. Here. You store that massive burst of energy in a Metalmind for later use. That has to be what he is saying there. Meaning that you can store until you reach those natural limits. Speaking of natural limits, here, and here. Quoth the Coppermind's Feruchemy page: It does not have a source tag, so I imagine it was largely implied within the books and eventually became an established rule around here. Ok, so I did a ctrl+f search for "full" and "fill" on theoryland for the entries with the words: Metalmind, Feruchemy or the tag Feruchemy. 2 entries that used a "full Metalmind" example without him correcting us, but nobody asked him if they could be "filled." So that facet on info may be on the reddit (that I am still awful at perusing) or in the books.
  12. I think you are reading it too narrowly, as we all have in the past. No Shards would be a suicidal intent yes. But No Shardic Influence wouldn't be. All of the speculation about Autonomy being Taldain's Star helps with this idea. Once all of the pesky interfering Shards are taken care of, Bavadin can just take a vacation to the star and let the Cosmere do what it feels like doing. She wouldn't be directly involved with anything at that point, and can fulfill that interpretation of her intent without being suicidally inclined.
  13. I cannot find a specific WoB where Brandon tells us that a Metalmind can be "full" but there are several instances of us asking him questions about a "full" Metalmind and he has never corrected us. I believe the origin of a filled one came from Sazed in WoA or HoA, but I'd have to reread to make sure. As for the filling rate, you cannot store more than you have, and you cannot store beyond a point where it would be lethal, (such as not enough strength to make the heart beat) If you have excess from burning the Metalmind, you can store all of that and still be fine and dandy. I believe "Mistpoint" is technically a fan term still, but yes. It's where you start leaking Mist. It reminded me of the Elend vs Marsh final battle when R&P are fueling them with power until they leak Mist. I think that's why we decided it'd be the upper bound. Both methods that use Allomancy to enhance another power (Allomantic form of compounding) start with either a Metalmind or a Spike, so it's not exactly limited by metal, but it's kinda limited by metal. If we ever know for sure that TLR found a source/way to get Nicrosil, and managed to hide it from the Inquisitors (he kept powers from the common people to weaken the Inquisitors if Ruin ever escaped, so he would hide his new metal) then maybe. Personally, I think it has just how strong he was and/or a prolonged soothing flare. I only brought him up in the example because he's the only real "superpower" to try and imitate.
  14. Insert obligatory Kelsier's interplanetary thieving crew joke here.
  15. In the absence of proper teachers (former Radiants), it is entirely possible that they follow a natural progression. The reverse lashing has been speculated to be a combination of both his surges, rather than just one. It doesn't change the point it was used on too much, but it's a thing that could be argued. Where did we learn that the Orders have a "main surge"? This is the first that I have ever seen anyone even imply that on these forums. Division metaphor for Skybreakers is dividing innocent from guilty, as used in the in-world Words of Radiance. Last point, I personally doubt it. Unless Hoid was somehow involved in starting the Manywar, I don't see why he would hang around on Nalthis to chat up the scholars. This may be a.. mistranslation on Hoid's part, or some other place has scholars. Hoid gets around the Cosmere.
  16. A statement Brandon made about the Lord Ruler is what makes me think that. I cannot find the exact quote right now, but it basically asked about if TLR visited other worlds. Brandon replied by saying that while he was holding the power of the Well, he could have if he wanted to. Brandon has called Roshar and Sel "high power" worlds compared to places like Scadrial, so I figured holding the Well would more than equate to that high power. That logic leap brought me back to Peacegiver's treasure: a whole ~50,000 Breath. I figured that having enough power to Worldhop would match one of the upper Heightenings. Maybe 6th since having every Returned be capable of it seemed overpowered. But as Nervousnerd pointed out, I forgot about Endowment's Shardpool. either way, I should've said they don't have an obvious way to world hop
  17. Odium was afraid that R&P could combine, he took out D&D on Sel, Roshar has Honor & Cultivation.. Ambition is the only target he went after that wasn't on a world with another Shard. We can excuse that because "Ambition" would be an issue to deal with, so he took them out first (or tried to, they eluded him until after Odium hit Sel) Endowment isn't a target because she is content to just have Nalthis to herself. No other Shards to combine with, little to no interest in Cosmeric expansion. I'm sure she'll become a target eventually, but that requires Odium to escape from Roshar and either deal with Harmony first or ignore Harmony in favor of the person who is arguably the weakest living Shard we know of, actively giving Splinters of their power to normal beings. Maybe it's just me, but I would rather take on the giant than deal with a swarm of ants, no matter how harmless they might be in the grand scheme of things.
  18. Least likely is probably Nalthis, since they don't exactly have a way to worldhop, and they (plus Endowment) seem content with things as they are. The big hurdle for Selish is finding a way to use the magics offworld, since we've speculated you could use the teleportation Aon to hop planets with the right information. They are chronilogically one of the earliest stories, so there is plenty of time to solve problems like that. But yea, since we know Scadrial will get FTL eventually, they are the top pick for "meddling with another planet in the future."
  19. The spikes that Inkthinker gave a location for were for his original 10 (11 in the book, but we'll let that slide as the MAG having it wrong). Meaning that those aren't specifically in the already loose chronology. Minor difference and uh, anyway.. For the purpose of him getting all the way to Kredik Shaw and then to safety the way I assumed happened, it would require Steelrunning, but as you've pointed out, my "method" seems a tad out of character for him. I'm putting a different rationale for why he might do it of his own will in quotes, because typing on mobile gets cluttered. I understand how super-villain Marsh could be explained as the "height of his power." Your interpretation makes sense, and doesn't have much that could be disputed because opinions are like that. I will say that if his 2nd Gold Spike is F-Atium, then that means he got it before Harmony no matter who we think influenced him.
  20. By technicality, yes and no. Yes: They are both limited in maximum velocity by air resistance. Same as speed compounding and everything else so far. No: If they don't have enough power/open space to reach terminal velocity, then one would be objectively better.
  21. I know it's blasphemy, but even he's gonna run out of unique ways to use the powers within the Metallic Arts eventually
  22. Does the Mistborn/Misting average power weakening as they get further from Lerasium follow any sort of mathematical function? If so, exponential/logarithmic/y=mx+b/etc..
  23. I technically disagree that there is no way that Marsh could have control over himself. Ruin loses a bit of control over him in times of intense emotion (which let Marsh free Vin to begin with) I imagine that his rage about Vin ascending could loosen his grip, especially since he has to greet/deal with his new guest. Not saying that it's a guarantee, but that writing it off as "in control" is what got Ruin killed. Due to specific wording by Brandon, people are starting to think his other eye spike is a fake, but that's another discussion entirely. Ah, so that's what happened to the spikes in the interim before they came into a certain "Lord's" possession. Now where did I miss that little detail? I can link you to the page where that info was brought in as a source (I cannot link you to a direct comment because it's more difficult than on Theoryland) http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/8829-marshs-powers-and-the-hemalurgy-use/?page=3 The relevant post, just for convenience He uses "just before Harmony" as his wording, but I didn't see a way he could make it all the way back to Kredik Shaw, do the spike things and find an underground place to hide in the short span of Vin losing it, killing Ruin, and Sazed taking everything. I realize that I may have made a mistake because I forgot he has F-Steel. He could compound speed to get places faster if Ruin wasn't holding him back anymore.
  24. The space opera is actually Era 4 now. Wax/Wayne officially became Era 2, and the 1950's? 80's? setting got pushed back to Era 3. It's a small nitpick that doesn't change too much. Anyway, what kind of tournament are you thinking of? There are more options than you might think.. as I learned while writing this •Triwizard Style from Harry Potter, where they don't exactly know what each event will be, clues to help them prepare •Medieval Tournament, well established events, contests of skill rather than cleverness •Event Elimination style, everybody does stage one of events, only the finishers go to stage 2, etc.. •Normal Elimination style, best of 3 rounds, get points in each event, etc.. Kinda like the olympics •Some other variant, and/or a combination of things Usually gotta have an event style to start coming up with events
  25. I'm pretty sure this was their entire point. Through the paradox and back, as it were
