  2. Honestly I think if he read it, he would just sneer and go "stupid norm, you never give them even a CHANCE to win. The only winner of the hunger games, should be those that die QUICKLY"
  3. I disagree, if I recall correctly Conflux's power was over energy, so he could CHARGE the cells far beyond what they should be able to hold, and power items just by touching them. He could then GIFT this ability to others, so some power armors could be used with a power cell, or directly by the individual itself. But I do not believe the power cells were the result of him GIFTING his ability to inanimate objects.
  4. So here is a thought. Lets say Steelheart read The Hunger Games. I think a cannon sounding every time a person dies would be right up his alley. Would be a rather grim world to live in, where you hear a cannon go off daily, knowing it means another person's life cut short. Hell a person wouldn't even have to actually die all the time, just sound it off, to help the propaganda machine instill fear in the populace.
  5. For some reason, no one bothered to add any digit flip cards higher than one. Mysteriously, this never became an issue.......
  6. Not saying it is impossible, but have we seen any instance where this occurred or was shown to be possible? I have a relatively rudimentary understanding of realmatics, so if it was mentioned there, I would be happy to learn.
  7. Then I am happy to agree to disagree, because I interpret that statement as ongoing. My point being that he was not intelligent enough at the time to fully comprehend all the intricacies of the law he thought would be perfectly logical to enact.
  8. " He’d drafted a law requiring that all people of less than average intellect be required to commit suicide for the good of the city. It had seemed reasonable. He had considered they might resist, but thought that the brilliance of the argument would sway them." The quote indicated does not state that all people of less than average intellect be required to commit suicide for the good of the city on such and such date. There is nothing in that statement that indicates to me that it is a one time event. And even if it was, lets say I give you that, that still results in your entire adolescent population being eliminated. Again I am taking the quote literally.
  9. But the very fact that he has to place an exception to the rule is inconsistent. In fact the more I think about it, the more functional problems arise with the law. If we look at it from a purely logical standpoint of which it is presented, then it states any who are not of a certain intellectual level must commit suicide. Taken purely at that and that alone, then children from birth to a certain age level should be killed immediately out of hand. Only child prodigies that somehow escaped the ax to a certain age would be able to demonstrate the mental acumen required. The entire law would require numerous exceptions and further amendments to be feasible at all. edit: so in that, i believe that supports the supposition that Mr.T was not at his highest level of intelligence when he came to that conclusion
  10. This is a slight digression, but there is a rather big flaw in his potential law. If it was put into place, then wouldn't HE, on the days of less than average intelligence, be required to commit suicide?
  11. Also not sure how you would attain Kelsier's consciousness. I am far from the authority on hemalurgy (that distinction seems to below to, if i recall him screen name correctly, Swimmingly) but I think you need to spike something to charge the spike. If that is the case, then first all that is left of Kelsier's body is bones, since the kandra Tensoon ate the flesh to appear as him to the rebels. So I do not beleive that is enough left to spike. Secondly, Kelsier's conciousness left his body for quite some time ago, so even if the remains could be used, I do not believe his consciousness could be pulled from that. Other than that, I have no idea how one would get their hands on Kelsier's consciousness nonetheless have it in any significant portion enough to subsume another person in their body.
  12. I don't know, I think Amy Pond would be more applicable functionally as well as personality wise. edit: mixed companions up, i mean Clara Oswald
  13. Suddenly it is revealed in book three that the cause of the calamity was the explosion that destroyed all the time lords and daleks that suddenly in fact actually didn't happen kinda.
  14. I thought it was stated that aluminum could ONLY be made via soulcasting? edit: in the stormlight archive that is
  15. Wahoo, north east is starting to fill out! And here I thought i was all alone O.O
  16. I don't see it myself from a literary perspective. I think Jasnah is a wonderful character as a stand alone and has developed far better throughout the books through friendships and her protege than through a romantic interest. I do not feel a romantic relationship would add anything to her character and if anything would end up taking away. I do not think she needs to have her "ice heart" melted at all. In fact I would say her heart isn't frozen to begin with. I do agree she was hurt and lost someone she was emotionally attached to, but I see Jasnah's personality as one more of reason and knowledge than emotional, and I see nothing wrong with that. I think Sanderson tries to portray characters of numerous backgrounds and liens. I feel that Jasnah's purpose is to show us that a strong solitary woman with familial connections and friendships can not only exist but lead a good and fulfilling life. Setting her up in a relationship, regardless the connotation or structure defeats that.
  17. Well my first thought as to why there would be a cool down would be because if there wasn't one, couldn't the user "cheese" the pulses by doing short bursts to allow him to dodge rather then one sustained one in an effort to make the fast burning bendalloy last longer. then after i read both your quotes of Wayne, I believe that is exactly what he did. If I recall correctly (without having the chance to go back and read to confirm), the only times in that battle scene Wayne held the bubbles up for an extended period of time was for when he ended up next to someone, threw up the bubble, fought them one on one, and then dropped it when he was victorious. I believe the two second count was for when he was dodging bullets in general. Basically throw up bubble, see where bullets are coming from, move, drop bubble, count to two while the enemies re-align their sights, then throw up bubble again while they fire so you can see the what the next paths take and avoid those
  18. So I have nothing to base this on, but for some reason this popped in my head. So when the whole partial in the bubble out of the bubble came up, Brandon said RAFO, and we do not know how having a tube in a bubble functions right? But we do know overlapping bubbles compound the effect if I read that correctly. What if theoretically laying down a tunnel THROUGH multiple bendalloy bubbles that overlap, and have an object sent through said tunnel. The premise of my theory is that the tunnel would reduce or remove the resistance of transitioning from bubble to bubble, allowing a steady acceleration to FTL. Or make a the tunnel, instead of a straight line, have it be a donut, so then the object goes round and round and round steadily accelerating till FTL travel is attained. Now I do not know if the tunnel would act as I mentioned, or if all of this is completely unfounded. Just a thought I had. What do you all think?
  19. Another thing to consider is it is said to be chivalrous, one must be honorable yet as Sanderson has shown us already, to be honorable can be seen in many different ways and many times can come into conflict with each other. Prime example is Szeth (skybreakers) and Kaladin (Windrunners). For Szeth being honorable is holding to an oath against all else, for Kaladin it is preserving his personal sense of what is right/just. So in many ways though being chivalrous may be considered holding to a code, the interpretation of that code can be taken many different ways.
  20. I am the greeeeat and powerful Steeeelheart, yooooouuu shall kneel right from the staaaart. Feeeeeaaaarrrrr this horrible and evil ruuuullleeeeerr, for theeeerreeeee is no one cruuuueeelllleerrrr. Iiiiiii shall crush your body and spiiiiirrrrritttt, yoooouurrrrr resistance is practically satiiirrrriicccc.
  21. You might want to specify which allotrope you would like for carbon when soulcasting, otherwise graphite might not give the durability you are expecting......
  22. Arguably it is difficult to compare how far along different knights radiants are depending on their order. After the first oath, lightweavers don't have oaths, they give truths. One could say Shallan was further along than Kaladin because she had used both her surges AND had a shardblade, yet she chose to forget and also her eyes haven't changed yet. I bring this up to illustrate that I admit it is difficult to CONCLUSIVELY say there isn't further for Shallan to go before she exhibits the frost, HOWEVER Kal evidenced frost when he landed AFTER using a surge. When Jasnah showed up after teleporting, there was no frost. Lift used regrowth to bring someone back from the dead. If that isn't enough to cause frost from stormlight use I don't know what does lol.
  23. Is there anything definitive that stormlight uses heat? I give you that Kal and Szeth exhibit this, but that is because they are of the same order (though Szeth accesses it via the honorblade). Jasnah, Lift and Shallan all use stormlight but none exhibit frost. It is my theory that the frost is associated with the essence that Kal's order exhibits, being zephyr. Unless there is something I am missing that confirms that the other orders results in frost when using stormlight?
