  1. Why thank you sir :::bows::: and now I'm off to win the Nobel Peace Prize!
  2. Order take out when your hungry and instead of waiting a half an hour to an hour in some cases, just takes 5 minutes.
  3. Or awaken duct tape and make it EVEN BETTER
  4. Compounds gold and wins no matter what
  5. I just realized something, pin head from hell raiser would flee from an allomancer! muahahahaha
  6. Horror movies would all end remarkably different
  7. steel compounding even easier/faster. :::Grabs ring, blurs for a second, suddenly back:::: all done, cue ending.
  8. So here is a thought I just had. Marasi states how Wax is legendary in the criminal sheets (I forgot the term she used for them). I think it would be awesome/hilarious if during the modern day trilogy, we see a character watching tv when an Old Roughs (western) show comes on titled "The Wax and Wayne Show, Tales from the Old Roughs"
  9. Answer to the first question, yes. Answer to the second, in my own opinion, I see Wax and Wayne possibly referenced, maybe a descendant mentioned, or even a very very very elderly brief cameo, but other than that I do not think so.
  10. Not sure if your definition of "normal" people includes or excludes Vin. She burned pewter unconsciously. She wasn't a savant but I do admit she was sorta unique.
  11. Maybe it has to do with the substance itself? Gold compounded only does one thing, heal. Stormlight on the other hand, when you are holding it in your body can heal, fly (windrunners), teleport (elsecallers), heal others (truthwatchers and edgedancers) and so on. So you need your mind intact in order to tell the stormlight what to do? Total conjecture on my part though.
  12. I need to check, but I thought the shot to the head was from a shotgun and literally blew away most of his skull which is what made it such an effective deterrent to his underlings. Then again my imagination tends to ramp up scenes for dramatic purposes lol so I will need to confirm if I am remembering correctly. edit: found it! page 158 "The man's virtually immortal. I heard he once took a shotgun blast to the face point-blank and walked away from it."
  13. But he isn't the center of the gravitational well. I will gladly look up quotes, but literally it is Szeth or Kal going "The source of gravity is over there, and I am making that source's gravitational pull such and such strength". That is how they get directional flight. I am sorry, I did not mean to derail this thread. BlackYeti, feel free to respond and so as to not further derail, I will leave it at that. I did enjoy our back and forth, and in no way am cutting this short due to differing thoughts on the subject. I just don't want to take over this fun thread. Thank you both BlackYeti and Kinxer for contributing and causing my knowledge of the subject to grow
  14. I dunno, I think the half lashings effect is minor enough that the feeling is negligible, but it doesn't negate the force involved. Increase the force involved, and although the effect would be the same (the object would maintain its location), the stress over the object would be increased. Also just because it is a "natural" force does not inherently mean it functions differently. Gravity is still a pull on the body. While googling I came across an equation that calculated at what point from the center of the earth and moon, does their gravity negate each other? But in this case it is referring to the distance away from each body. Go far enough away from each pull, then the affect is negligible enough to have no discernible effect. Conversely, in this case, it would be like moving the moon and the earth closer and closer to each other as you remain in the gravitation "center" of their interacting fields.
  15. Well lashing upwards once just cancels out the downward pull, but it was states COUNTLESS lashings in both directions. True I do not recall there being any mention of that instance, but there have been plenty where Kal suddenly lashed himself multiple times in a direction and felt a painful yank in that direction. Basically I am picturing the times when Vin pulled or pushed in all directions with dulerium but had to flare pewter because it felt like her body was being torn apart
  16. Would that tear you in two?
  17. I am leaning towards only humans, otherwise dolphins would kill us all......
  18. Trick someone into asking for a boon that benefits me, but since they asked, the curse falls on them
  19. Didn't Shai make a stamp to do exactly that? lol
  20. if the floor is wooden, and assuming it is the first floor, forge a "panic room" that a nobleman had installed but was forgotten about over the years from the place being sold and trading hands. Then squirrel away some of the food from my meals into the panic room. Then one night hide in the room. Wait till guards discover my "sudden" escape, and wait till they begin to search the outlying grounds for me. Meanwhile slip out of panic room, go down the now unguarded hall way, grab a change of clothes from the servants area, and escape.
  21. Well here is the thing, I read the theory you posted in another thread, and you clearly have a lot of real world knowledge that is very impressive, but what you are stating regarding taint and "being aligned" is all you, and not explicitly stated in the books nor Words of Brandon. Could he later expand and reveal this is the case? Totally. But at this time it is clearly stated in the books and in Words of Brandon that Hemalurgy is of Ruin, Allomancy is of Preservation, and Feruchemy is of both balanced. Hemalurgy you lose, Allomancy you gain, and Feruchemy nothing is truly lost, nothing is truly gained.
  22. Could it just be Occam's Razor and its Harmony helping him through the piercing, or the mists? I do not recall in the case of Spook, but I thought even if you got a power from a hemalurgic spike, you still needed to ingest the metal to burn it. Or does spiked individuals basically have an unlimited supply of metals as long as they spike granting the power remains in their body?
  23. Those are all good points, but with no evidence to back them. I will admit it is a possibility though. How would feruchemy "taint" Vin while the earring was ok? If anything one could argue that by giving her feruchemy it would balance out the hemalurgy. Feruchemy corrupting her I think is a stretch.
  24. Actually something that just popped into my head, due to holding a shard briefly the Lord Ruler knew A LOT. If this was true, I couldn't see him not knowing that lersarium could produce feruchemy especially when he had enough knowledge to know about swallowing and burning it making you become a mistborn. Now one could argue that he was cocky and thought by keeping the well hidden right under his own palace, no one would be able to gain access to them but based on what we know about the Lord Ruler (attempting to wipe out HIS OWN PEOPLE just on the chance one of them could become a compounder), I don't see him leaving the beads where they were. Mistborn only, sure, hence why he gave them out at the beginning, but a compounder? Too close to his power and able to challenge him. So if you could get both abilities from the same bead and become a compounder, I couldn't see the Lord Ruler just leaving them where he found them, which resulted in Vin finding them for Elend all those centuries later. edit: Oh! and another thought. Leras inspired Vin to give the bead to Elend to burn to save his life. If you could get both abilities from the same bead, from Leras's perspective why not have your avatar, who is working for you become a twinborn to adequately fight off Ruin's Inquisitors? They began wiping out feruchemists in order to become more powerful, it would only help your chances as Leras to have your champion on equal footing. Or conversely, Ruin would try to get one of his lackeys to find/grab it so they could challenge the Lord Ruler and get rid of him that much sooner. In fact isn't that why the Lord Ruler wiped out the terrismen? So non of them who were already feruchemists, could consume the bead and challenge him possibly at Ruin's behest? Ruin could then tap anyone and have a compounder capable of going toe to toe with the LR himself.
  25. My only issue with this theory, and it is purely from a mechanical level, is that would make Lersarium ridiculously powerful. Yes I know it is a god metal, but hypothetically if any joe schmo from any planet ever found out about this, all they would have to do is first tap it to become a feruchemist, then swallow it and burn it to become an allomancer. Then bing bang boom you have a fullborn with all the compounding insane powers of the lord ruler.
