  1. Moral of the story, Goth kids don't sparkle in sunlight, they burn.
  2. during the original trilogy you would kind of be screwed regardless. Put it in metal and the inquisitors can read it. put it on paper with non metallic ink and ruin can alter it.
  3. Just have to make sure they have unlimited access to cable. As to Nightwielder, I think I heard he was an industrial goth, who loved to go to bondage parties. Blocking out the sun, check. Attacking shadow tentacles, check.
  4. Conflux was a lazy couch potato that couldn't stand to get up to change the channel and was sick of having to change the batteries in the remote.
  5. You know if we are going to all this trouble just to have a Kandra chair, all you need to do is tell your subservient kanda to bend over on all fours and sit on its back. Problem solved lol
  6. Not totally. Dalinar said himself he spent long enough trying to get everyone to act honorably by example, he would begin to make them. He then sent Adolin to fighting shardbearers so once he had most of the shards, he could then make them listen, and give the shards out to who he decided. Hoid stated in another lifetime Dalinar would be considered a tyrant. As to finally on board with the way things are done, is the politicking and maneuvering Alethi society expects of you. Much like how Jasnah was acting in her past view section. It is why even when Sadeus blantantly tried to kill Dalinar, the only thing the other highprinces thought was how poor form it was that Sadeus didn't succeed. To the other highprinces it isn't who lives best, it is who gets the best toys/most power. It probably won't happen, but I could totally see Navani and Jasnah at the very least suggesting it, or doing it anyway while Dalinar opposes it. One could also argue that they could convince Dalinar that it would help keep everyone united. Just like how Dalinar didn't confront Sadeus about his betrayal because it would mean civil war, the Kholin family wouldn't push the matter to prevent fracturing. Dalinar has seen the consequences of half measures. Now with the voidbringers a reality, can't really take time for dissent amongst each other. Must be unified against a common enemy at any cost.
  7. So fun thought I just had. If Jasnah shows up before Adolin being suspect as the murderer is common knowledge, but is confided that he did in fact do it, I could totally see her effectively turning the murder from a reputation killer to a reputation booster. The Kholin's are finally on board with the way things are done. Sadeus just played the game and lost. The voidbringers are the bigger problem, get in line or else. Hell doesn't even have to be Jasnah, I think Navani could do just as good job if not better. Since there isn't evidence enough to convict Adolin, then it remains a rumor and solidifies their power further because they get away with it. Of course there still would be the emotional issue among the family between Dalinar and Adolin, but if played correctly by Jasnah or Navani, I do not think it would be a rep killer at all
  8. I see what you are saying. Could be and would be cool to see it come up more in later books regarding the original mistborn trilogy, hovering required multiple anchors. Vin commented how she was surprised about how Zane could remain hovering over a single coin without needing at least two or three. What I was referring to was travel. When a mistborn flies through the city, it is sudden pushes or pulls that make their progress due to the relative lack of prevalence of metal more haphazard than spider-man. this quote implies with enough metal, or continuous metal, you can maintain one long push and shift the the point of the push on the metal as you are traveling which dramatically affects flight
  9. Exactly, and like in those fine crime dramas, the person being investigated can say "you got nothing on me, so you have to let me go". The police can hold you 48 hours max without cause. The evidence mentioned is enough to bring Adolin in, but not keep him detained longer than two days. If Adolin breaks and confesses, then yes. But if he keeps his mouth shut, he goes free.
  10. I don't know regarding the legal system of the Alethi, but it is my opinion based on modern day investigation, but removing forensics (since to my knowledge we have not see any sign of such existing in the book), then you do not have much of a case. All you have accomplished is call into question Adolin's where a bouts, and prove the Kholin soldiers are not valid witnesses/alibis. Under the rule "innocent until proven guilty", you do not have anything PROVING Adolin was at the scene of the crime. All you have is motive and conjecture which alone is not enough for a conviction. Now if the knife did remain in Sadeus's eye, which it seems to be, and the knife is shown to be unique enough to be conclusively proven to be Adolin's (pointing out that he is missing his is not enough) or you locate the cut bloody cuffs then yes you have him dead to rights. But baring proving he is the owner of the murder weapon, or locating the bloody cuffs and proving they are his, you cannot find Adolin guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. edit: now having stated that, I agree that if Ialai uses her resources of spies and illegal means, then yes she will totally get him to reveal, or prove he did it. Just a LEGAL investigation would be unable to convict him based on what is presented
  11. I wonder if the fact that a knife was used instead of a shardblade would affect the ruling of the trial or severity of the punishment. For instance sometimes penalties for murder are more severe if a firearm was involved vs not.
  12. I forgot who stated this earlier in the thread, but someone mentioned how Kelsier in the original trilogy pushed on a steel bar, and as it was flying pulled on one end so it would be spinning as it flew. But thank you for contributing, and do you have a quote or page reference? I am curious about the scene, because if it is possible to do one continuous push along a long length of metal then that may affect the appearance and possible trajectories of coinshots and lurchers in future books, given the hallmark of a mistborn's "flight" was jerking back and forth with each push and pull. That it took a hemalurgically influenced Zane to have the precision for fluid flight.
  13. Only problem with this, is based on the last time the Kholin's have been investigated, it is pretty much guaranteed no soldier will say there was anything unusual about Adolin
  14. How is this for a conspiracy theory when everyone finds the murder scene. It was Ialai! She arranged the assassination! Before anyone states weight categories, i stress, she ARRANGED the assassination. She would know Sadeus's where a bouts, her seal would allow any "messenger" the ability to get close. Not wanting to share power with a husband who has bungled taking out his chief rival numerous times, she has the motive. She is intelligent, has the resources, the know how, and the connections to make it happen. Obviously it was not her, but if you want to talk about capabilities of replicating the murder by another person, it practically screams her.
  15. Yeah I am iffy on the decorum as well. Do I make reference to WoR, and use spoiler tags, or leave the thread alone till the time duration expires and then comment? I elected for spoiler tag, and if it is an issue then I assume the moderators will remove it and I will be informed for going forward:
  16. Ah, gotcha! Thanks!
  17. Just so i can better classify them, what does the
  18. I think Curveball might fit Hawkeye more so. It HAS to be an epic power to have seemingly unlimited arrows in which to fire upon his foes.
  19. That would be David, with his epic power being his horrible metaphors actually being the joker's puns
  20. So random thought I just had. If fabrials mimic/replicate surges, then could the pain fabrial that Navani used on Adolin possibly be one of the surges we don't know about? That one of the orders perhaps desensitize or amply pain/sensation?
  21. I think one issue with all of this is (correct me if I am wrong), but we never see the actual law regarding winning shardblades/plate in battle regarding dark eyes. All we have is stated rumors. If the rumors are to be taken as the law, then based on what is written verbatim Kaladin got the shardblade/armor. There is no clause stating about bonding being necessary. There is no clause stating one must physically pick up the blade/plate and there is no clause stating one must say "mine!". Now at least regarding US law, if this was a case regarding a gift, then you are right Maxal, one must receive the gift to be in ownership of it. But I do not believe the shardbearer that is killed, is considered as gifting the shardblade/plate to his or her killer. It is spoils of war. edit: and i did actually find law (in the US at least), regarding spoils of war when it pertains to law: Spoils of war in the possession, custody, or control of the United States may be transferred to any other party, including any government, group, or person, by sale, grant, loan or in any other manner, only to the extent and in the same manner that property of the same type, if otherwise owned by the United States, may be so transferred. Emphasized by me. Kal was in control of the shards the moment he killed the shardbearer based on the rumor as written. He then chose to give control to his friend.
  22. Unbeknownst to all, Weird Al Yankovic is actually Mitosis's original identity......
  23. I guess where I am having trouble is, if a Kandra uses bones as a framework in which to construct muscles and tissue, then what would be the framework for a chair? A chair is a chair. Unless the Kandra is going to turn into the cushion for the chair? But technically the cushion doesn't have a framework itself. Which makes me think that you wouldn't be able to have jellyfish kandra or octopus kandra either. Though technically they could use the beak as a reference persay.....
  24. Well there is always Krampus he could endorse. According to the legends that dude really DID slaughter those who were not "good"
  25. I would also argue that perhaps we have not seen all that stormform can do. Afterall during the battle, half the lightning bolts shoot off in random places. It is clear that they are new to this form, and do not know how to fully utilize it. It would be like seeing Kaladin using the surge that draws the arrows to his shield and assuming that that is all Windrunners can do. Sure its handy, but if thats all windrunners could do, I think you would react the same way, by stating they were useless when compared to what you imagine the other knights radiants could do. But we do in fact see windrunners can do A LOT more, and I think the same will stand for stormform.
