  1. This is not the correct way to look at Returned, I'm afraid. Returned get their own souls back, only "augmented". Lifeless get someone else's investiture replacing their own.
  2. @OP A very interesting thought.
  3. Yes, I know/agree that they didn't compound during the original trilogy. The question, then, is why they didn't/couldn't given that, apparently, they wouldn't have a choice but to get the Feruchemical attribute upon burning a metalmind.
  4. This didn't occur to me at the time, but a thought: Paalm went obviously rogue at some point around when Lessie died, I think we can all agree. So that gives her a bit less than 2 years (if I'm recalling the timelines in AoL correctly) on the lamb. Time enough to practice compounding of one kind or another, and I've little doubt that once you figure out, say, bronze compounding that you'll be similarly "skilled enough" to compound any other kind of metal. This of course depends on certain timelines for when she started Hemalurgizing. -- As a secondary point, I'm a bit leery of this annotation. Since then, Brandon's said that ("drr drr drr" aside) you have to get the Feruchemical effect when you compound. So what exactly is there to practice at? Being able to effectively store off the excess attributes? But even then just uncontrolled super-boosts of speed or health or the like would have been quite helpful to Inquisitors.
  5. The possibility has also been raised (and RAFO'd) that Bleeder was compounding.
  6. Careful everyone: if the Dark Alley actually gets nominated, I may decide to exercise my long-held right of control over the entire organization and say that you are in true fact just a bunch of baking enthusiasts...
  7. Don't worry Ookla Venture, all shall become much more confusing on the 25th...
  8. @Zmann Ah yes, I remember that one now. Good question with an interesting answer.
  9. Even if you can't normally tap metalminds while sleeping, I wouldn't be surprised if you anyone could manage the trick if they worked at it long enough. Instinctive burning is a thing, after all, so instinctive tapping isn't that wild a thought.
  10. The pair of spikes is referred to as a single Blessing. So typically you'd get two iron spikes for the Blessing of Potency, for instance.
  11. If you'll look three posts up, Brandon's currently in RAFO-mode for that question.
  12. They'd still die of old age, assuming that there's no ready access to atium.
  13. Given that alloying metalminds metalminds loses their power, then I'd guess the same happens with spikes.
  14. Do you recall where that bit about Genghis Khan was in the Chicago transcript? I would safe it's safe to transcribe it now.
  15. Well it could be a very early programming language...
  16. Feruchemical iron very definitely stores mass. It's just that some of the interactions are weird so that things don't get broken.
  17. He's from Threnody (planet in Shadows for Silence...).
  18. Quite right, my apologies for not double-checking the contents of the WoB. That's almost certainly the WoB that Tellingdwar was referring to, though. P.S. I used my godlike mod powers to hide the WoR spoiler.
  19. Here you go.
  20. Myself I'd guess it was asymptotic to 0, but that aside it's a moot point because you're going to need to be in contact with at the very least an ironmind, and that will retain its mass. EDIT: Peter also apparently wasn't too impressed with a Tor article on FTL possibilities that talked about decreasing mass to 0.
  21. *Time bubble WoBs are confusing, says the math-man.* Really the insolubly weird questions tend to be about border problems, when all's said and done.
  22. Regarding leeching metalminds:
  23. Shardblades cut on all three realms.
  24. Physics and I have never really been on the friendliest terms (the "Auotpwail" in my member title stands for "Actual understanding of the physical world and its limits"), so I'll just stay out of this one...
  25. In all honesty, if you want me to weigh in on something you're not that well off just relying on me happening to read the post. -- It looks like even in-place Forging flat-out stops working if you get too far away from MaiPon, so I doubt that trying to apply a new stamp altogether would help matters.
