Also, I've tried hard to replicate the issue on my devices, and I've been unsuccessful. I was thinking that maybe that if you're logged in, the board is using your default skin regardless of you being on desktop or mobile, but the mobile site worked fine for me even when logged in. Very interested to know which browser/more information.

What features would you want on the mobile version? Now, I'll be honest. I don't often use mobile sites on my phone. I find the extra power to be much more useful, without much drawback on my platform of choice, Android. I just pinch to zoom and it works okay. I am certainly not saying that you using the mobile site is bad, and I'm totally cool with that (after all, I'm kind of weird, so my use cases are probably not the best to go off of ), I just wanted you to know my sort of point of view. The mobile versions will get better over time. And the mobile forum navigation will eventually integrate better with our front page and Shardcast content and such. Right now, I'm not at all pleased with the UI, as it feels very much just like a mobile forum, not a complete website. You should at least be able to access all areas of the site and view them quickly and easily with the mobile version. And then, you should be able to type some responses and do some commenting. That feels like a pretty good balance on features/cleanliness to me. What other things would you want? I'm genuinely curious. Certainly there's work to be done on the mobile side, though many of them are long term goals.

Stormlight 2 - Where Shardblades come from
Chaos replied to Galavantes's topic in Stormlight Archive
I moved it for you -
Sorry about the downtime, I've restored the TWG archives now. It now seems to be unrelated to the downtime we had the other day.

Hmmm! I'm sorry to hear that this is being problematic for you, Oneyespike. In my experience, tapping on links in the mobile version of the site does indeed keep you within the mobile version. I shall try and figure out why it's doing that for you and let you know, because you're right! That totally should not happen.

It's from Liar of Partinel. You can find links to it here:

That is awesome on both accounts. Seriously.

Maybe, it's hard to tell.

Hey, so. Yeah, something happened to the server today. Apparently 11am Mountain Time was when Eerongal noticed it and I rebooted it about an hour later. However, something more serious was happening, as server load was very abnormal for some reason. For most of the afternoon we were battling it, it occasionally working, but often extremely slowly. Then it would hang up and I'd need to reboot it again. TWG had a database error of some kind so I removed it to try and see if that would help. It was not apparent that it did. Then, lastly, there was a database error at about 7:20ish Mountain, about thirty minutes ago. I'm not sure when that particular error started, but certainly after 5. In any case, the database is repaired, and now server load is normal. So basically... no idea what happened, but it's better now! Yeah.

To add to Josh, the answer is indeed no. But it is not a bad idea to look at SA wikia and "be inspired" with how you can improve articles here. But yeah, definitely do not steal text outright.

Well, the official Table of Allomantic metals has always said about atium: "In alloy form, it produces various expanded mental and temporal effects," so Brandon's wording here is entirely consistent with this.

I think I know the problem. The issue is the difference between primary membergroups and secondary groups. For almost everyone, they have the membergroup "Members". The difference only matters in certain admins and moderators. Look right below my avatar, for example. My "main" group is Administrators, but I've selected several secondary groups, relevant to my interests in the board. That way, if--and a big if--people knew the rationale of the membergroups, they would know what I focus in. Most admins have done similar things. When you click on those groups under the Forum Led By thing--for example, for Cosmere Theories, it is led by ardents--it will search the members whose primary membergroup is ardents. Thing is, with Windrunner moved to Global Mod, there is no one who has the primary group ardent. Same with Worldbringers and Radiants. However, the system does work if you look at the RP area. It does show the Obligators and the people who run each individual forum. Just a quirk in the membergroups.

It's official: http://starwars.com/news/star-wars-is-being-kick-started-with-dynamite-jj-abrams-to-direct-star-wars-episode-vii.html JJ leading both Star Trek and Star Wars? It's almost too much for a mortal man. I don't know how I feel about new Star Wars. But I do know this much: 1. These movies will, by default, have better dialogue than Episodes 1-3. 2. If there are more massive space battles, like that opening of Episode 3 (which has just a ridiculous scale to it), well heck, that will be pretty dang amazing.

Shadows For Silence in the Forests of Hell
Chaos replied to ROSHtafARian's topic in General Brandon Discussion
...Dangit, Peter. You troll you. -
Eventually, those "chapter bumps" will be discovered by the characters in the book. Book 1 has a very, very satisfying conclusion.

Shadows For Silence in the Forests of Hell
Chaos replied to ROSHtafARian's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Considering Brandon said it was a minor Shardworld (without even a Hoid appearance), I'd say it isn't one of the ten core Shardworlds. You should temper your excitement about Shardic developments. -
Shadows For Silence in the Forests of Hell
Chaos replied to ROSHtafARian's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Usually I'd say it's dangerous to assume that a new novella or short story is cosmere, as statistically speaking almost all of Brandon's short fiction is not cosmere, but indeed Windrunner speaks true, Shadows for Silence is cosmere. I'm very, very excited to see it in print. -

I think you'd be fine. Dragonmount's been having some serious attacks recently which, a month or so ago, made their site unoperational. A normal DDoS attack. I believe the change is because they have a storefront where they sell ebooks, which makes it a more valuable target for, well, jerks. That said that's all about Dragonmount being up or not. I can't vouch for its security, but I'd be very surprised if there was any issues. I think your virus software is just being overzealous.

It's a new year, and it's time for some new news. There's that A Memory of Light thing (you know the one), but we also have Steelheart and The Rithmatist coming out in 2013, and we have some exciting things for both projects. First up, Steelheart, the superhero novel. Entertainment Weekly has revealed its cover, which you can see to the right. There is also a freaking awesome plot summary: Yeah, so okay, I don't know about you but now I'm ludicrously excited for Steelheart. Next up, The Rithmatist. We've previously talked about how the Rithmatist is awesome, but now you can experience it for yourself, as Tor reveals the prologue and first chapter of the book. Just read that prologue and tell us you aren't stoked. 2013 is going to be an awesome year.

ShardCast Returns Monday with Inquisitor Santa
Chaos replied to Chaos's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
So it's fifteen minutes after Monday in Pacific time, but here's your Christmas present! -
Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas and happy Random Winter Solstice Holiday. Are you getting stabbed in the face? Perhaps the gut? No? You humans have such strange winter rituals. I, Inquisitor Santa, give Scadrial with far superior offerings. At least, to the most brutal of taskmasters, who constantly whip the skaa (what you would call "the Nice list".) But I have a busy night of people to kill and Hemalurgic spikes to grant people, so you Earthlings will simply have to live (or die, heh) with the ramblings of three other Earthlings. They discuss some "Pokemon" thing, and then there is a pale imitation of God's (Ruin's) voice, which is then referred to as "Batman". Bats are not menacing, lowly humans. Get it right. Oh, and this place called Elantris is discussed. So, what are you waiting for? Go click below and bind this episode of Shardcast permanently into your Spiritweb. Errata: Teoin is the capital of Teod, not Teoras. Also, let it be known that Eric totally said "Suck it" near the end, and not anything that rhymed with that.
