    Blog?

Ummm... that's a very good question. They are for whatever you want them to be, I suppose. Originally we implemented it to have a mirror of Brandon's blog, which does not work anymore. The user blogs were honestly a nice bonus for everyone. So, honestly I don't know what they are for. It's an IPB module that we have, so why not I guess?
  2. I'm moving this to the Stormlight board.
  3. We have a scoop for you today: a new edition of the first Mistborn novel is coming out May 13th, 2014. Now it's going to be marketed towards teen readers, as evidenced by its new, lower age range, as well as mentioning his other teen book from Tor, The Rithmatist, on the cover. The synopsis has less emphasis on Kelsier and the setting, and focuses on Vin, which is sure to appeal to teen readers more. It also includes the cover that was previously found on the Mistborn ebook trilogy, which is some of our favorite cover art for Mistborn. It's not entirely surprising that Mistborn would be marketed this way. Brandon once explained that, depending on the audience, you can market a book in very different ways. If someone was a big fantasy reader, he would pitch it with the usual "The Dark Lord won" pitch. For teen readers, he can make a character pitch around Vin. Right now, we're not sure if the whole original trilogy will be rebranded this way, or if there will be a new box set. Judging from the Nook preview, it seems identical in content, but still, a new printing of Mistborn which brings in new readers is something to get excited about.
  4. I would like everyone to not focus on the uncivil actions that occurred (except for the forthcoming apologies that will happen soon). Instead, let's actually talk Amaram, guys.
  5. You may now return to your regularly scheduled, extremely civil discussion There should not be any additional issues, and I do not expect this thread to get heated. Respect each other, guys.
  6. Hi dangermond! I saw your post about this on Reddit, but it seems you beat me to the punch in responding to you. Cool that you've done this. Please just make sure to include a credit to 17th Shard, and obviously, don't sell it, or post the content here on other wikis. Otherwise, you have our blessing to do it. Though I hope you realize what a massive task it will be to periodically update this, especially after Words of Radiance
  7. Temporarily closing this topic until I have a chance to deal with this nonsense. Expect PMs to come in the next few hours. They will not be pleasant ones. And Darnam. You will respect the moderators of 17th Shard with equal weight as an admin. Feather is staff and that was very much a group decision. You will respect that. This topic will be reopened by the end of the day, but it is evident that I need to close this until I can have some private words with people.
  8. Those represent Google and Bing's search engine spiders. That's the way search engines work: they have crawlers literally go to every page on the internet.
  9. That's easier to do in a wiki where you can just create a spoiler template. On a forum I would need to attempt to code it myself, and that can be a bit nontrivial for my abilities. I do kind of need to figure it out, though. I really want the Quote box to be able to link to an arbitrary thing, such as the interview database.
  10. Yeah, my guess is giveaway.
  11. Today Tor unveiled the book tour for Words of Radiance! 12. I'm not sure that will be possible.
  13. Holy crap, this never occurred to me. This does seem pretty reasonable--at least, that parshmen don't die to old age. That could be why they were so valuable in the first place...
  14. I only mean to imply that there will be comedic value to this discussion in a bit, nothing more On the other hand I definitely mean to imply that, because hilarity. Guys Roshar is a gigantic gemstone and that's why you trap spren in gems IT ALL MAKES SENSE!
  15. Important notice: I have since recanted on the idea that a Shard can only retrieve power if used by a Shard's intent. That was pure speculation on my part, from a different time in our knowledge. I need to do a big revision of that theory, though the basic Principle, as far as I'm concerned, is totally canonical, as Brandon described Allomancy in the exact way the theory describes. I like Moogle's explanation for Honor's action. Unrelated: this topic highly amuses me, but I can't tell you exactly why just yet.
  16. in the pants EDIT: I don't think I thought that one through. OH WELL
  17. in the Dor (sorry not sorry)
  18. Shogun, I think I'm going to close this topic, as I'm just worried about a political flame war starting. It's kind of been a problem recently, and I'd rather not go down that road.
  19. So naughty. If you don't record your reactions to the end, let's say Part 5 through the end... well that would be a disservice.
  20. So this just happened to Feather: She was so frustrated that she can't read these immediately she hurt herself. That happened.
  21. Inquisitors? Freaky? It's like metal objects aren't supposed to go there and it's freaky when they are! No way!
  22. I've just messaged Feather, as I also worried about this. She didn't reply for a time, so I thought she may have died. But no, she is alive, she's just in class. For the next hour and a half. So let's make sure we check on her when she's actually read these chapters.
  23. Well this is freaking awesome.
  24. Note that chapter 14 is in Part Two in the book, as evidenced by the new style of epigraphs. So this sample is a little out of order. It's pretty cool how the Parshendi call themselves the listeners, in my opinion. Also I edited the spelling error in the topic title here.
