There is an opposing force to Adonalsium, and at the midnight release, I asked Brandon to write in my book something about that opposing force. He wrote: "There was a weapon created by the opposition of Adonalsium." Well, that's terrifying. What if it is still around? Someone should ask Brandon if Odium knows of this weapon. Also! I asked Peter at the release what was the Shadows for Silence planet name. It is Threnody. I'm sorry for the debacle that was the release--at least in getting theoretical content. We do have a recording of the Q&A and reading, but the audio could suck. We... misplaced recorders. Ahem. But at least this is something. That is all from my end regarding the midnight release. -
I wanted a thread where we name what the letter in book two should be called. Either "The Letter Response", or, what I prefer: "The Second Letter". I prefer the Second Letter because then if there is a third or fourth letter, it's a more sustainable term to call it. Thoughts?

I suspected as much but Brandon has not told me. The story I'm thinking of is something else, which I want to share but I'm not sure if I can. I think it's obvious that Vasher and Nightblood can be fueled from Stormlight, or else Vasher wouldn't have been able to survive so long. I thought that Vasher may have initially come to Roshar as then he doesn't have to live off Breath, and instead Stormlight, an easier source. -

If you're in the US, Words of Radiance is out right storming now. Did you know Brandon has never gotten #1 on the New York Times bestseller list? It's time to fix that. Is it shipping to you at the moment? Well, go to your favorite ebook retailer--Amazon, Nook, Google Play, iBooks, and Dragonmount--to grab it and devour it. You're on 17th Shard on release day, so obviously you aren't reading it. You should fix that. And if you're not in the US, I certainly wouldn't suggest that maybe you could fool those servers by pretending you are in the US, but, hey. I didn't suggest it either, so that's plausible deniability right there. So go buy it and read it right now. Once you do--and only once you do--go to the Words of Radiance spoiler board, and the Words of Radiance Reactions topic. You should not go to that board if you haven't read the book, and I cannot more sternly say that. Don't do it. Just Say No. In the Cosmere Theories board, please mark spoilers for the next week as a brief grace period. Get reading! I think you will enjoy it very, very much. Also, there is the Way of Kings trade paperback that comes out today. Not only is trade paperback a wonderful size (taller than the usual mass markets), this edition comes with a brand new illustration that has never been seen before, as well as the full color endpapers. It is pretty freaking great. -

Hey guys. I posted some spoiler policies a while back, and I think it will be wise to mark spoilers in the Cosmere Theories board upon release for one week only. Just as a little grace period for our non-US members Next Tuesday, free reign as always, but until then, keep spoilers out of topic titles and use spoiler tags for your spoilers. Sound good?

Words of Radiance is out now, so it's time for the obligatory general reactions topic. You already know my initial reactions, but what did you guys think? Obviously, this thread will have spoilers. If you don't have the book, stop right now. Seriously. Go. I mean it. And if you have the book and you haven't finished, what are you still doing on this site, go read it, dummy. Here are a great many empty lines so wandering eyes don't go here. If it's a major spoiler, probably put some spoiler tags on it. I'll post my spoilery reactions in a bit, but first, I want to know what you all think.

How about midnight Mountain time, as that's the actual release. That sounds reasonable to me. You can post common sense excerpts--the epigraphs are definitely fine.

This is last minute, but: the release party at BYU tonight will be livestreamed! It is my understanding this will happen via Google+ Hangouts on Air, so it should be accessible from Brandon's Youtube or his Google+ page. We will keep you updated and edit this post with the exact livestream link when the time comes! The line thus far has been wonderful, though wristbands have been going fast. This morning, when we started lining up there were about 170 people. That image there is the line, and it actually goes around the corner a bit. Crazy, isn't it? Brandon posted about an hour ago that about half of the bookstore's copies of Words of Radiance are claimed. If you plan to go to the release, please go to the BYU Bookstore and buy it, or buy it online and show them your receipt. If you're going, we hope to see you there! There will be various awesome games at 10:00pm when the doors open, and then Brandon will start his public Q&A and reading at 10:45pm. But if you can't come, you won't miss out on the Brandonium goodness--just watch the stream! We will keep you very much posted, and let you know via Twitter what's going on. Also, don't worry, many pictures from the weekend will be in our Gallery and our Facebook page. Words of Radiance comes out tonight at midnight in the United States. Talk about it in our Words of Radiance board, though remember to only discuss sample chapters until the release at midnight Pacific. Review the spoiler policies. Read a wonderful, heartwarming introduction to why Words of Radiance is what Brandon has always wanted to write, by the man himself. And if you're still somehow in doubt that Words of Radiance is better than its predecessor, check out our spoiler-free review. EDIT: Mi'ch here. You know how when Tor posted sample chapters of Words of Radiance, they skipped Chapter 7? Well, you can at last know what happens, as it has now been posted. You don't get to read it, but you do get to listen to it, at least the first part of it. Kate Reading's was pretty good, though the voice for Pattern is... interesting. It sounded more of Gollum and Emperor Palpatine. All I can think of is... Look, at the release, I put a blanket on my head. Emperor Palpatine things happened. Don't judge. Words of Radiance comes out TONIGHT! -
