“Is genuine curiosity and respect for other cultures and faiths so foreign on Earth?” Kelsier asked dryly, raising a brow.

"Well, you could say so." Replied Hoblim. "Especially since Shnaim Mikra isn't the first thing most people know about Judaism. Shabbat may be the first. Maybe Pesach, Brit Milah or some other Mitvah. I wonder how- oh, sorry. Trésor's sister is a Jew, so she might tell you random things. Does the sister work for you?"

“Yes,” Kelsier answered. “Treasure is one of mine. But I‘ve also found that you can learn a lot about a people by what they believe. So I did do some research into Earth’s religions. You have quite a lot of them.”

He glanced over the group, nodding. “Are you all ready to go?”

"You would be surprised..." I mutter. Wait, he could probably hear it anyway, with tin. Ah, no matter, it's not like I'm lying. I then raise my voice up to a normally audible level. "Uh... Kelsier, could I ask why we're staying on Scadrial at all? I mean, I would like to go home. Would be a lot less stressful, and I mean we can't exactly mess with the plot over there."

Kelsier shrugged. “You could try. But considering how you got here, I doubt it would work very well. You’re more likely to reappear where you started.”

Rylia looks on, confused. "Earth? Jew? Gentile? Shabbat? How you got here? What do you mean? "

I do know all those words, I'm just asking for Rylia's sake

“Jews are a nationality and ethnic group on Earth,” Kelsier explained. “And Earth is a foreign planet. They,” he gestured at the worldhoppers, “got dropped here by their Shard, Insight. Who is in cahoots with Harmony, by the way.”

Rylia's confusion deepens.

She's not cosmere-aware yet. At all.

Kelsier smiled. “That’s everyone, then. Let’s go.” He began walking briskly toward the cellar.

"Where are we going?"

The Survivor smiled mysteriously. “You’ll see.” He entered the cellar, heading toward one of the small supply closets in the safe room.

"Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with Faith here. I would prefer to know."

Kelsier just smirked, pressing lightly on seemingly random points on the carved shelves. A moment later the back of the closet split, a hidden door opening to reveal a hidden pier. Bobbing in the water was an oval vessel with two pontoon-like objects extending from the sides.

"Now, this vehicle isn't, by happenstance, connected to the Vanishers' one, now is it?" Asked Hoblim.

“Think South Scadrian,” Roues corrected as Trésor began handing out medallions. “I’ll take us out to sea before we start flying.”

I sigh. "I was hoping my mother and you wouldn't share any traits in common..." I grab the medallion and hop on the boat.

Lilliana rolled her eyes. Well now that he knows they want to know, he's not going to tell.

She grabbed the medallion and got on.

Rylia took the medallion offered and got on the boat, then examined her medallion more closely. One metal was definitely nicrosil.

Is the other metal bronze?

It’s Iron, for storing weight. It’s there for convenience.

Kelsier stepped lightly into the dirigible, followed by the Ghostbloods. Roues moved toward the prow, taking the helm.

Quote

Note: the term dirigible means a balloon airship on our world, but actually comes from the French word for ‘steerable’. So it makes sense that the word would end up used for Scadrian airships.

Rylia was baffled by the medallion, seeing no use for it. "What's this for?"

“It allows you to store your weight,” Kelsier explained. “We’ll need you to that once we start flying.”

"Ooooh!" Rylia immediately steals the investiture from the nicrosil, compounds it, and fills the medallion - and one of her own metalminds - with it. "When can I get an iron bracer?"

It doesn’t work that way. The Investiture automatically returns to the medallion when it is no longer tapped. Otherwise all the SoScads would be Fullborn. HOW it works is unknown.

“There’s iron in the medallion. You can use that.”

Wait what?

I mean she tapped it, stored what she was tapping in her nicrosil, and compounded. Is that illegal? If you have a WoB please share it and enlighten me, because from what I've read I've gotten the feeling that you can 'snatch' investitures, but only if you're twinborn nicrosil/spiked double nicrosil and get ahold of a SoScad medallion or something else like it. That's part of why I wanted to be spiked double nicrosil.
