Kelsier nodded thoughtfully, tapping his metalmind for the information Trésor had shared. “Fair skinned, lower education, blue collar, conservative views.” He said idly. “That right?”

Sorry. He was supposed to be from New York. But then I realized that I wouldn't be able to play him well.

Oh, and the boss is a really, really bad person. He's kind of like a less compassionate version of Dilaf.

"Mostly." He grinned. "Can you guess where you're wrong?"

The Borough thing is usually the biggest thing people get wrong, honestly. The Boroughs are separate cities in many ways. We are all in different counties. If you’ve  never been to NYC then it’s very easy to miss how diverse and segregated we are all at once.

Have you watched Zootopia? The city is based off New York’s ethnic enclaves. If you want to play a New Yorker, it’s actually a really good reference. Everyone but Judy is basically a straight up New Yorker.

Kelsier smirked. “Why bother? You tell me: What did I get wrong?”

Lilli can talk to the GBs in the Cognitive Realm if she wants.

I know, she's just really uncomfortable. She's not from the same world as them, and they've been getting frustrated with her. Now, if one of them starts talking science (especially biology or chemistry), she will be very interested and will probably start talking. Or if someone talks to her.

"Well, I was on vacation, and went swimming in the Plitvice lakes in Croatia. And then I ended up on this world. I was confused, and after a few days, the boss found me."

Lilliana was sitting down, feeling a bit disoriented. I want to talk to them, but I don't really want them to get mad at me again...

Kelsier raised a brow. “You arrived directly on Scadrial? Interesting. So your boss lives here now. Does he like it?”

"Well, it's easier to get away with stuff. I mean, there's no security cameras."

Kelsier nodded. “True, true.” Internally, he was floating. So this ‘boss’ was on Scadrial.

“So, why attack Lilli?”

He sighed. "I already told you. The boss wanted to test a theory." He laughed. "And from what you said, his theory was correct."

“He wanted to see if she would become a Shadow?” Kelsier guessed.

"For now. He only needed me to kill one of them. He might have other experiments or theories that require one of them later."

He smiled, standing up, and began to untie his prisoner. “Oh,” he said, pausing as though a thought had just occurred to him, “what was your organization called? It has a name, right?”

"The boss just calls it the Corporation. We, the less important employees, call it the Corp."

Kelsier smiled as the last of the bonds fell away.  He clapped Charlie on the shoulder with his left hand, the right in his pocket. “Thank you, Charlie. You’ve been a real help.”

Then he stabbed the assassin through the heart with Duralumin.

Trésor shrugged. “Master Thaidakar didn’t say. And I’m assuming the latter is why he ran off. If your in danger then she needs to be returned here as quickly as possible - assuming she’s alive to return.”

"You mean she might not be alive?" Faith nibbled at the inside of her cheek. "Is there any way I can help?"

“Not at the moment, I’m afraid,” Trésor told her. “Your job is to let us keep you safe until Master Thaidakar returns.”

"Nothing? Not even with my pewter?"

Kelsier smiled as he removed the spike, wordlessly taking the aluminum wrap from Priére. “Keep an eye on things until I get back?”

The priest bowed his head. “It would be my honor, Lord.”

Kelsier grinned, clapping Priére on the back. “Good man! I know I can count on you.”

Smiling, the Survivor replaced his glasses, emerging from the basement and soaring into the sky. He burnt the metalminds he’d swallowed earlier. He soared across the plains leaving a vacuum behind, Mist swirling about him.

It didn’t take him long to reach the perpendicularity, hidden deep in the mountains. A moment later he was in the Cognitive Realm, on his way back to Elendel.

Trésor shook her head. “You’re too unpracticed.  You can try using it though; get used to how it feels.”

Hoblim was nervous. He already finished memorizing all of Exodus, and yet they say there, with no news. He recalled that one of the items he pushed into the bag was a rubix cube. He stretched his hand to the bag, but stopped midway. Lilliana... might be dead right now. Or might not be. Should he really touch her belongings? After a short hesitation, he decided that probably playing with the rubix cube could be fine. He opened Lilliana's bag and took it, starting to solve it to ease his nerves.
