Grr. No, everyone should violate their no-lying rules for mafia. I almost never lie in real life; I've a reputation for it. But I fully intend on lying in elim games. I've thought about using RP characters as proxies to shield me from backlash of lying. But getting caught violating promises makes people trust you less, and that's anathema to people who love truth and transparency. We don't exactly go around asking people to swear they're not elims.

Well yeah, this is 100% me In my neutral game as Battar I lied about every post, every PM... yeah, it was complicated. I even fabricated a story, making up something a dead person did (that they didn't do) to explain something that I did, and it was believed... for some reason. I dunno. But I definitely lie in these games, and not ever irl. Connie, Mist, though- I don't think they'll lie even in a game built on them. And that's pretty cool, but also exploitable in... a lot of ways. Makes things easy and complicated at the same time. Like now, where James is so obviously Connie's teammate even though that violates a whole skew of other things.
James Brafin he/him Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 I'm not their teammate though. Jeez. As another point: Do you really think I am dumb enough to put my partner in a locked out position? Ever? If I were Elim the thought of a double here would have never come out of my mouth. You're just paranoid (or secret Elim). Calm.

If the elims win this, my goodness they deserve to. Edit: @James Brafin @Breaker @Condensation @The Unknown Order @Gears @TJ Shade tagging everyone because this is basically another post but I don't want to double. I will not be on for rollover, I will not be on 30-40 minutes before rollover or after that, I probably will be on about an hour ish until rollover for about five minutes, I can be on for the next 90 minutes ish, then not for an hour and ten... point is I have irl school today So if you want someone to switch because someone did something chaotic I'm not your guy. I wish I could be monitoring the thread in case someone is trolling us but I can't be. To the elims: If you win this, well played. I haven't the vaguest idea who you are, to be completely honest. That way, even if they vote, they would have to vote for Order anyways or they would die alone. The only way this can possibly fail is if Condensation and Order are elims together, but then by their actions, we'd know that and kill Order. As the vote stands, we are fine. Do not change, do not switch, do not alter things in any way.

Mat he/him Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Ironically, this is the only thread I can remember the tags not being mixed up. 1
Gears Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Roko stood at Kanaira’s shoulder, like always. As time had passed, their numbers had dwindled from nineteen to a mere six. And if all went as they had planned, that number would halve in mere moments. Connie and Ettsel were to die, and Connie had vowed to not alter the outcome in any way. Ettsel had already cast their vote, so all that remained was to wait. The Black Ajah, oathbreakers, would kill again, if they maintained the status quo, and then… Well, the future depended on how the enemy would act. If the Darkfriends successfully killed tonight, it would be down to three people, and a simple majority vote could succeed. If they didn’t, the population would be reduced to four, and a split vote could prove deadly. Of course, the option of executing one of their number was contingent on only one remaining Darkfriend by the end. If there were more, then they were truly doomed. One way or another, this was truly the end of days. Maybe Roko would get to see the sun rise again in the morning, standing at Kanaira’s shoulder as always. Maybe it would wake to see Kanaira’s corpse and collapse in grief and the bitter horror of knowing that it had failed. Maybe it would not wake again, and Kanaira would see its corpse on the ground. How would she react? Grief? Shock? Mourning? Apathy? It did not truly know. And maybe, just maybe, both of them would fall. Given the modus operandi of the Black Ajah, this outcome was unlikely, but it was possible, and somewhat more palatable than the thought of one of them being left behind. Roko had a failsafe for when Kanaira died, be it here or many years from now. As an Aon chain meant for assimilation and destruction, it had a mechanism that converted minds to recursive Aon chains and melded them with itself. If it deactivated the melding process, Kanaira would be converted but remain a separate entity. Roko had given her a small trinket a while ago, an Ouroboros ring, and asked her to never remove it. She had agreed with a slight grin, already used to Roko’s many idiosyncrasies. If she kept it on, if it stayed on her when she died, if Roko had disabled the melding process correctly, if the mechanism didn’t break, if Roko could get it from her corpse, if a thousand thousand miracles aligned, all would be well. Sene sovya caba'donde ain dovienya e dovie'andi se tovya sagain. 1
Mat he/him Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 If I die, we get a Black Ajah, and the game doesn't end, look at James. Closely. Thanks. I can't be on again.

Guest Breaker Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Welcome, Gears, James, to the final stage. The lighting is set, the music is perfect. It's a beautiful day to die. For, you see, I am Kira. You might wonder, then, why I reveal myself? Why spoil the fun, end the chase? You might better understand if you look at this position. It's unwinnable. I could, perhaps, force a draw with Gears, by Night-Killing him tonight, and persuading him to Shrek James with me. But I cannot win. If I wished to win, I would have Night-Killed myself or Gears, then defered my kill today while leading a Shrek on James or Matrim. It may have worked. But it's an ugly victory. I decided, several nights ago, upon pursuit of another ending. Instead, let us finish this game with another game. Gears. I select you to decide how the game ends. You have four broad options. First, we draw the game, by killing James, then refusing to kill one another. Alternatively, we kill one another on the last day. In either option, we can take Roko and Kanaira together to wander amongst the stars. Second, you win the game, by Shrekking me. I will either kill James or leave him alive, as per your request. Third, you lose the game, by Shrekking James and then letting me kill you. Fourth, we all survive. This last option requires James' consent. Operation: Pathfinder Survival now is up to all of us. You can know I am earnest, and this is no ploy, by my actions last cycle, not attacking either of us. I can no longer win, unless you so choose. However you choose, I shall be satisfied, partner. I am Kira. And you are now the final Eliminator. Would you like to join my cult?
Gears Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 5 minutes ago, Breaker said: However you choose, I shall be satisfied, partner. I am Kira. And you are now the final Eliminator. Would you like to join my cult? I am so proud of you, Kai. Comprehension dawns in an instant. Adoration, adulation, awe. The puppets dance, and so we are revealed. The masks come down, and it is up to me. Thank you. You know what I want. I think you might have known from the beginning. You know that I want it to be us, in one way or another. But @James Brafin, Operation: Pathfinder Survival is up to you. If you refuse, we must act against you. My instincts say to kill him, but my mind knows that he deserves a chance. Jam, we live or die together. What do you want? I hold the knife to your throat and ask you to choose. Roko watched as Kanaira grinned in a manner that was far more like baring teeth, revealing her master plan from the beginning. Now, it could see the signs that it had willfully ignored. The lack of a kill, the complete absence of results, the dance of merry madness that Roko had fallen in step with. Now she offered it the knife, and it knew, in that instant, what it would choose. What it always would choose. It was a killer at heart, and it served her. "Of course, Kanaira," it said, taking the blood-stained knife in its hand and staring at its smooth surface. Then it turned to face James, an old friend from another place, another time. "It's your choice too," it said, grinning the same mad grin as its Aes Sedai and slowly advancing on its friend/foe/ally/enemy/victim. "What do you choose?"

James Brafin he/him Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 The freaking title though. I'm amused -- TJ is clearly exasperated; he built this game and gave all the cards to town, and we still managed to screw it up. Well, that's just how the cookie crumbles. -- Jameson nodded at the two figures that were now at the door of his tent, the darkness cloaking all but the knives they held. There was no need for faces. There were only three left, and he knew already how it had been. With a quiet smile, he retrieved a pipe from the pouch and settled himself in the humble, but comfortable chair he had brought for himself, looked for a long moment, drew a few deep breaths of smoke, and began. "Clever. You've played your hand brilliantly, Breaker, I see. Kept your head down, your mouth closed, subtly directing us to our own demise while casting smoke and mirrors upon yourself. You kept me at Philico's throat just enough to sow discord, direct my mind away from the possibility that you were subtly leading myself and dear Roko astray. And it seems you've finally gotten to them, show them the light or error of your own ways, depending on who you ask, of course. And now you come to me, to extend either a hand or a knife to my flesh. Well played indeed." "So you come now, this night, and ask me, amid this storm, a question of interesting regard, I think. You ask me a question of person, of character, of moral. You ask me if I am willing to die for my honor? Or am I willing to reject it, and keep my own life? In essence, you ask me this: Am I a honorable man?" "So you come to me with this question. And in return, I pose you this: Have I once lied? Been untruthful? Been unfaithful to my word? Or have done other than to give myself for my community and my people, until I alone were to remain to represent them? I answer no, for though I walked them to their deaths, I did it for a love of my people and because I sought to protect them, and they knew as much and know now. And now, it seems, I may go to join them yet." "You come to me with violence, threatening me to join you, but after a man walks so many to their deaths, how does a man fear it himself? No, Death and I are close of spirit, for he has walked with his hand on my shoulder, and now he beckons me to follow him on his walk one last time. I have led my place in the Pattern, and now he is prepared to return me to it. But there is no need to come to me with violence, cousins. This pipe I hold? The herb I smoke? It is laced with poison, fit for the use of someone as myself who is placed as both a diplomat and a spy. I keep it with me always, should I my life be forfeit, and it seems that was not in vain. Perhaps, though, I will be remembered -- and you will remember me -- as a seeker of justice, and as an Ajah who never lied, and told only the truth that I meant for others to hear. -- James 2

Roko smiled, a kindly one this time, not the visage of madness from before, and pocketed the knife it held. "I will always remember you, Jameson," it said softly, gently, soothing in a way Roko was usually not. "You never bent. You never broke. You were truth, you were majesty, you were a raging wildfire. When we venture forth unto the stars, I will regale the universe with your legend, and they will remember you forevermore." It pulled out a small porcelain kettle and set it on the stovetop. "Any final requests?" it asked. There was a wide assortment of various teas and coffees, gathered from the abandoned cupboards of the deceased, and there were biscuits in the pantry. Sugar, cream, and milk were also in abundance, and there was a rack of bottles in the back in the event of a request for a stronger drink. A final teatime with an old friend was not a bad way to end this tale. As the kettle began screaming, Roko started arranging the cups. Nothing left to do but wait and watch the fire die.
|TJ| he/him Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Games gone long enough, and I'm gonna call it a tie if there is no specific winner at the end of this turn. 1
|TJ| he/him Posted January 23, 2021 Author Posted January 23, 2021 Aftermath: TJ woke up from another weird dream. He'd been having a lot of those lately. Strangely, they were all related to Wheel of Time. Maybe I should stop reading those WoT fanfics all the time. You know when you're obsessed with something and it starts appearing in your dreams? Yeah, I think that's the case here. He tried to remember it, like he did always. What was it again? It was right before the Salidar Aes Sedai took siege of the the White Tower. But something was different, wasn't it? Different from canon? The Amyrlin had tried to root out the Black Ajah? That didn't happen until later in the books. And there were a lot of Aes Sedai whose names I didn't recognise. Yes, the Amyrlin was almost successful in rooting out the Black Ajah. And..And.. I.. remember a James? What kind of an Aes Sedai name is that? And a Basilisk? Trying to find the final Black Ajah for the Amylin. What happened next...? The dream slipped by his mind in moments. He was lucky he could even remember this much. Most of the times, he could never recall a thing. Weird, this subconscious mind. Just like that, Roko, James, and Kanaira were gone, just constructs of his subconscious mind. Gears, James Brafin and Breaker disappeared. They were figments of the narrator's imagination. [Hmm, what's that? You want the actual write-up? You want to know what happened? Okay, okay I'm only joking around. Might as well, cause you know, stats sheet and all that.] "Huh, sure would have liked to know how that ended." mumbled TJ as he stepped out of his room, only to find James and Breaker in his field of vision. "Wow, I must have taken something strong last night." TJ tried to shake himself out of it, and tried slapping himself, but there they were, as clear as a day, engaged in a stand off. "Huh, they're actually...real? Wait a minute-" he looked closely... and they didn't seem to be pointing their guns at each other? They.. held their guns to their own heads? "Oh, god I'm still in a dream isn't it? I-" All of a sudden, they started shouting at each other. "I'M GONNA KILL MYSELF" "NO, I'M GONNA KILL MYSELF" "NO, I'M GONNA-" "No, no, this can't be happening. This is not a dream, I'm going insane HEY, can you guys-!" BOOM. James Brafin was eliminated. They were Rebel Aes Sedai of the order Grey Ajah. Breaker killed themselves. They were a Black Ajah hiding within the order Blue Ajah.
