"Well," Trace replied, starting to pull Cadenza towards the nearby woodland, "then you should understand how impossible it is to give up my body."

Cadenza went with Trace meekly. She could always escape later - and she'd have the element of surprise.

Trace pulled her out of sight, checking to make sure they hadn't been followed.

"Now," Trace said, "like I said earlier, I'd like you to be properly terrified."

@Vapor? @Negative_Null? @Matrim's Dice?

Vespyr followed Trace, but kept their distance.  Trace was having a moment, after all.

Dropping in out of nowhere because I totally didn't just now catch up.

The colonel made his way around the far side of the enemy's location, sidearm ready as he moved to flank their position. As he heard the barrel ensue, he quickened his pace, hoping that he wasn't too late. He hated leaving Maddy behind to go on alone, but the advantage of a flanking assault couldn't be ignored. He heard movement coming towards him, and he lowered himself to hide before checking who it was. Upon seeing that it was Trace, he nearly took the shot, until he saw Cadenza. He hesitated before removing his hand from the trigger. He had to follow her, he had to wait, and the wait would probably kill him.

I'm not counting it as a word, only that I think that RP was intended to be read by pronouncing the letters 'R' and 'P'. It is generally acknowleged that:

Quote

If the first letter makes a vowel-type sound, you use "an"; if the first letter would make a consonant-type sound, you use "a."

Pronouncing R falls under the first definition, and "an" would be used. If I were reading it aloud, it would be correct to say "an RP" (sounding out the letters) and would also be correct to say "a roleplay".

"You should be." Trace pulled out some rope she'd taken from Vespyr's stores, then tied Cadenza to a tree.

The colonel made his way around a large tree, keeping Trace in his sights. He deliberated what to do for a brief moment before aiming his sidearm at Trace's head, lining up the shot.

Vespyr stepped across from Trace, then put itself in the way of the bullet, casually, without even facing the man.  Was it... accidental?

Spoiler

Lol no, it was not.

Cadenza pulled a sharp icicle from the air. "You realise that won't help much, right?"

Trace relaxed her grip, pulling Cadenza to her feet and holding a dagger to her throat.

"No one is going to follow me," Trace announced. "If they do, she dies."

As far as I know Jay is still clinging on to her.

Yeah, I pronounced it "are-pee" so an RP makes sense

Jay, who apparently got shaken off of Janice's wrist, presses the earpiece.

"Jack, I hope you're close..."

  Reveal hidden contents

Lol no, it was not.

The colonel nearly cursed, but he held his tongue in order to not reveal himself. He tried to reposition himself in order to get a clear shot at Trace, but that didn't work. He made the quick decision to stay hidden for the moment, until he a better shot presented itself. If that didn't work, then he might have to take drastic measures.

Aryanna followed Trace quietly, hiding out of sight.

Trace finished tying off the rope. "We'll see how your powers fare when I'm through with you. Do you know what I'm doing, Cadenza?"
