Negative_Null They/Them Posted January 13, 2021 Author Posted January 13, 2021 Quote Guys, I leave for a few hours and you got 7 new pages? Let me interfere a bit, if you don't mind. Jay, after having left the boat and creeping through the rocks and trees behind the battlefield, darted behind the last layer of bushes behind Janice and Cadenza. This wasn't a good situation, but the best way to stop Trace would be to catch her by surprise, and with one leap, Jay was sure he could knock her to the ground and keep her there, especially since she was distracted by that... creature.
ProfetessaOscura she/her Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 1 minute ago, Knight of Iron said: Lena took the impact, grunting. This... this creature was powerful. Lena glanced toward the cave that Cruz had come running down from, then back at Cruz. "What motivates you, creature?" she asked. Vespyr silently stalked toward Lena, then stooped, fingertips brushing against the cheek of a terrified man, chest-deep in the sand. He writhed. "Do you know what a heartbeat is?" it asked, lifting its chin, the eyeless mask facing Lena. After all, facing someone was respectful, even if they were likely about to die at your hands. "Fragile," Vespyr whispered. The man froze, eyes dilating, then began to writhe, going into cardiac arrest. The vibration, the tremor of his heart had been absorbed. Vespyr didn't feel an urge to end the man's suffering with a blade. It was a better death than the two currently inhaling sand, suffocating and crushed. Vespyr stood, still hovering in the air, then slid spectrally toward Lena. 1

I stepped away to take care of a few personal projects for just a few hours, and all of a sudden the plot moves on with blinding speed. Some people say that I'm a slow guy, but I'm picking up on a pattern here.

I'm too busy to crush you, Scorpion." The creature hovered backward, toward Trace, toward Jay. It stopped the vibration of the beach, and the pattern froze, imprinted on the sand. Vespyr stepped back onto the beach, leaving footprints as it approached Trace. "Do you require my assistance, or is your terrible plan growing any less terrible?" It asked calmly.
Mat he/him Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 (edited) Maddy's head throbbed. The battle had became... an actual battle, in a few short minutes. That shouldn't be a problem for her... but that shoulder. Her Veil stopped what would have been a battle-ending blow for her, but it still ached. She tested it, moving her arm in wide circles. Luckily, Trace had hit her non-dominant arm, so she still should be able to wield her knife and Aspect as usual. Maddy spotted Trace not too far off, battling the man she thought was called Jay. It wasn't going well for him. Maddy leaped forward, letting out two blasts of energy, high and low, fueled by thoughts of what she could do to Trace. Knight of Iron she/they Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 Cruz is left alone, terrified. The Siren could stop heartbeats? And... Lena was finally here, to finish him off. Lena makes her way down to Cruz, flaming sword in hand. That creature had terrified her. How was one supposed to compete with such levels of majesty? But it had left, and as she stepped onto the same level Cruz was at, she saw Cruz whip out his knives. The ones he had gotten from Sebastian all those years ago. "After so long," she called, "You still carry his weapons." 1

The words were of wind, not uttered by human lips. "I warned you to flee." The creature didn't even look as if it were paying any heed to Lena. The sand started lashing up, grating against the woman's skin, caught by the wind, drawing blood.

The winds dissipated, vanishing, abandoning the bleeding woman in the sand. The wind was almost fond, like an encouragement, as it rushed away from Lena in a soft whoosh. It ruffled the boy's hair, shifting his clothes against his skin. "Do not fail." The words sounded encouraging, even if they were phrased in an almost threatening manner.
