"It's a long story, but here we go. On my planet, we have apprenticeships for kids with magic. I was apprenticed to a woman named Tawny. At first, I would do anything for her, seeking her approval. Eventually, I grew out of that, so she used force instead. She's one of the strongest Mentalists, people with mental powers, I know, so I quickly learned to just obey, although distance decreases the effects. Anyways, Tawny sent me to find someone named Tara from our world, and I suspect Tara was her apprentice. Tawny doesn't like being defied. I've been searching for her since. I had some sneaking suspicions in the Universe Hexagon, but by the time I was sure, I'd fallen for T. But then Tawny contacted me, so I ran out into the woods. T followed me and broke her ankle. When I realized T was hurt and I couldn't feel Tawny, I helped her back, but I called her by her full name. She needed to know, so I started to tell her, and at that point," he paused. "At that point, she was done with me." He forced back tears. "She needs to know that Tawny's nearly found her. I can leave, she can stay with you. I...I don't know where I'll go."

"That's... quite the story." Fadran worked his jaw. "Do you want me to go talk to her?"

"Same, though," Ayia said.

"Yes. Let her know, at least. Please."

"Right. You're in charge while I'm gone, by the way. You're the least likely to set something on fire while I'm away." Fadran gave Ayia a look, then ran off to find T.

Ember set something on fire.

T stormed towards the tree line. "No one... why..." she grumbles. She hears Fadran coming up and turns to face him. "Yes?"

Martin watches in amusement as even more new individuals arrive.  Reese would think this is a security breach.  It's not, though.  It's something different.  He steps over to one.  "Hi, I'm Martin."

@Voidspawn

Soren snapped back into attention. "Oh! Uh... I'm Soren."

"Nice to meet you, Soren.  You get caught up in this mess too?"

"Yeah. I'm just... unsure about this, to say the least. One day, I'm on my home planet. The next day, I find myself here, in this place called 'Sel,' with no idea of how I got here. The next day, I join a cult, or as this Fadran fellow calls it, the 'Fellowship of the Thing.' It's all very confusing."

"I had much the same experience, though I was on a starship when I came through a ... whatever it was."  Cold heat through all his nerves and raging colors behind his eyes as he was torn apart and remade, over and over, and over and over again.   "I don't think it's a cult," he continues.  "But yes, it's confusing.  Worse than sorting out verb tenses."  That always goes terribly.

"Well, Fadran did say that we had this big cult meeting soon, but I'm not sure if it's ever going to happen. Does it usually take this long?"

Wait, isn't he the one with fire powers?

Hiiri noticed T walking angrily away and followed her, staying invisible just in case.

"Eh... probably.  Never been in an organization where it didn't take a long time to get everyone in place."  Lie.  Liar liar liar

"I'm Soren. I come from Agonia, and I was some unimportant nobody. One day, I used some kind of ancient unknown magic that I don't know about, then got kidnapped by an important government official or something. I resisted, ran away, then woke up here in Sel. Then you guys pulled my in with your cultish ways."

"Same, but... you know what, each cult chooses different ways."

"I don't think I am officially part of this... Cult. So, Q'Soren, you used the magic? How much of your soul did you trade?"

"First off, what is that 'Q' for? I am unfamiliar with that title. Secondly, I'm not sure. Some amount between none and all.

"Your name... do you people not use proper names? You must have used some of your soul, I gave away a small portion of my soul a few years ago. I don't feel much difference except every now and then. The power I earned was definitely worth it."

'You gave up some of your what?!" Martin is really hoping he heard that wrong.

"Yes, we use proper names. Your civilization is probably the only one in existence that names people like that. Therefore, you must be the improper and demented one."

Andante rubbed her forehead. "Sorry, I'm just a bit confused. Three new people: Midnight, N'Fehn, and Soren?" She smiled. "I'm Andante. Nice to have you. Where are you all from?"
