"Absolutely," responds Rekaerb without hesitation. "It's just burning metal- she could have done that anywhere."

"Don't you remember Kelsier's warning? I don't think she would have tried burning random metals just to see if it did anything."

"Except that's exactly what she did," said Rekaerb. "She had a metallurgist create a bunch of alloys for her and tried them out until she found one that worked."

"She didn't risk death in that scenario. She knew there was an alloy of alluminum, and that was all she was testing. I can't see her burning platinum with no evidence of it having any relations to Allomancy, save for steelpushing and ironpulling."

Jek walked up. "I'm not so sure about that. I could see Vin risking her life to find another metal compound if she knew another compound would help her."

"And she didn't...? I'm not sure I see your point, Enter."

"If Vin knew there was some other metal compound that could help her in whatever thing she was facing at the moment, I think she would have risked her life to find it if she had some sort of information about the metal."

"That... is probably true. But we're talking (or at least I'm talking) about going in blind. Chromium and bendalloy, the metals I mentioned, weren't known until well after the Catacentre."

Did I spell Catacentre right?

Queen thought that she had been listening to the conversation pretty well, but there must have been something she missed, because she had no clue what it meant. "What in opuntia's name are you talking about? Who is Vin? What is chromium and bendalloy?"

"Stuff from my home planet, Scadrial. The Ascendant Warrior, Vin, and two Allomantic metals. The external enhancement pulling metal, chromium, and the external temporal pushing metal, bendalloy."

"I'm still extremely confused, but okay. What do we need to do here?"

Ene poked her head in behind everyone else. "Sorry for hiding around the corner for that entire fight, I don't have much fighting ability. This place looks cool."

"No problem. Not everybody has to be a fighter." Fadran says, then realizes that it wasn't just Ene that he was talking about.

Metals: unless Vin was already pretty sure something was Allomantic, I would guess that she wouldn't burn it, because unless it's Allomantic or an alloy with something Allomantic, it would kill her.

Searching for duralumin, for instance. She knew that alloys with aluminum, even the wrong one, wouldn't kill her, only give her a headache. Burning a random metal definitely could kill her.

Vapor smiled at Ene. "I totally understand. I don't know that I feel the same way, but I understand."
