She knew there was an alloy of alluminum, and that was all she was testing. I can't see her burning platinum with no evidence of it having any relations to Allomancy, save for steelpushing and ironpulling."

Searching for duralumin, for instance. She knew that alloys with aluminum, even the wrong one, wouldn't kill her, only give her a headache. Burning a random metal definitely could kill her.
