What kind of work were you interested in?"@ZincAboutIt Lita shook herself out of what was probably a very impolite stare. The two people at the other end of the bar had just changed their ages. Atium Ferrings, she thought, piecing that one together. So rare. It was almost like seeing a Faceless Immortal walking around. This tavern is an interesting place. "The 'professional eavesdropping' kind," Lita said to Laurelai. "What can I say, I was born an excellent listener. Excellent vision too - well, excellent when the tin's burning." She took her spectacles off and squinted through them. With her tin on, the world looked absurdly blurry through the lenses. It felt a bit odd to be so open about her talents with a stranger, but she was hardly well-known enough for people come asking for her. 1

Laurelai continued to give Lita a friendly smile as she thought the woman's words over. Was that her I felt watching me when I entered? Or something else still? A brief shudder was sent up her spine as she felt some unseen presence observing her yet again. But was it just her imagination? "An interesting skillset." Laurelai said as she drained the last of her glass. "But I'm sure you can find someone who appreciates it, there's all sorts of opportunities for someone in that line of work."I wonder if I should try recruiting her, not sure how we're doing in intelligence work lately. Well I suppose it wouldn't hurt to send a letter to Mac. "Some of the larger guilds are apparently trying to set up a government. Might be able to get some work there. Or there's the Dark Alley, depending on what sorts of ethical standards you hold to." Laurelai ordered another drink, watching Lita carefully out of the corner of her eyes for her reaction.
I think I am here. he/him Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 “It does,” Lusk said, taking a another gulp of his drink. He listened to the woman, what she would do with his power. Ask her older self for advice. Huh, he’d never thought of doing that. But somethings she said betrayed a lack of understanding. You couldn’t just forget things by changing your age. “Nowadays,” he gestured to himself. “I just use it to live my life. Old age has a lot of downsides I like to keep at bay.” He turned to the Atium Ferring again. She was glaring at him. “Fine, don’t drink,” he said a little drunk. In his current age, he was always drunk anyway. “You know,” he said, resting his elbows on the table. “46 years and I’ve never met another one.” He sighed, and pointed at her. “You’re young. I’m pretty much on my deathbed. I should teach you a few things. Especially if all you use Atium for is ducking.” He tossed the thought around in hi head. He hated kids. All of them. But this one was different. 1

People didn't usually throw that name around as a casual suggestion. Let it go, she told herself. No use getting yourself nailed to the wall over a little curiosity. Still, one did wonder. Was any one type of killing really worse than another? Was it truly more ghastly than the countless gangs and guilds in this city maiming and murdering one another every day? The Survivor himself made a regular habit of throat-slitting, and people still worshiped him. "You know," Lita said carefully, placing her words like chess pieces, "I've heard so many rumors about them that it's impossible to make any kind of true estimate one way or another. The truth is so hard to suss out, even for a tineye." She drained her glass and set it down, looking up to meet Laurelai's gaze. There's one thing for certain, she thought. I'd rather get spiked through the eye than join a rusting government. 1

+Sorana she/her Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Lena slowly finished her drink. "Thanks." She told Lusk, her voice slurred. "I'll leave you to your age changing stuff." Pushing herself back she got to her feet and waved at the butler to follow her.

"And what would you teach me to do? Get drunk and stay that way?" Irritating him probably wasn't the best idea, but as she wasn't sure how else to react. Here was a stranger whose name she didn't know, who told her to drink underage, saying he should teach her. Agreeing sounded like a pretty dumb idea.

But!” He stood up and chugged his drink and set it down, blinking a couple times. He collapsed in his chair again. “But, you see it’s quite annoying. My selfish self sees someone like you, Atium Ferring, attitude, and what are you doing with it? When they think of Atium Ferrings, all people are going to think of is me,” he gestured to himself, and then pointed at her. “And you. And neither of us are exactly pinnacles of impressiveness. But at least you can change that.” An idea flashed to his head, and he quickly dismissed it, aging forward to where he could handle the alcohol. What was he doing? Talking to a random underage girl in a bar about training? It was more than a little odd. “Ok, fair enough,” he said. “But at least learn some sort of fighting technique. I don’t want to die and then have someone who doesn’t even know how to use their power as the only person who has it.” He rubbed his eyes and yawned. “Storming kids,” he muttered. Laurelai gratefully received a new drink, swirling it around in the glass but not drinking any more. "Well I suppose sorting the fact from the fiction can indeed be difficult." She said, nodding in agreeance with Lita. "But knowing the right people can help. Rumours flying around the streets are rarely reliable, but those who travel in somewhat loftier circles occasionally catch a glimpse of something a little more reliable."She seems interesting anyway, might be best to keep an eye on her for now anyway. "But then again, who's to say whether even that information may be false. Really only someone who's a member could say for sure." 1

No Acute went untrained. She just wasn’t all that great at it. “Most people only get one chance to prove themselves. Mine’s already passed.” Freedom ran her fingers through her hair, brand on her forehead visible for a moment before strands fell back into place, blocking it from sight. “If creating a good legacy for future Atium Ferrings is what you want, then know it’s probably already out of reach. This Scadrian teenager had her turn in a spotlight and she didn’t like it.” Freedom sighed. Why do you want to go? Precious had asked her that before she left home. I want to...I don’t know. She had told her. She still didn’t know. It had just felt like what she needed to do. But now that she was there, she was even more lost. Now there was someone who could help and she was pushing them away. “Who even are you?” she said, unsure if she was asking herself or the other Ferring.

Really only someone who's a member could say for sure." If she's not a member then I'm the Ascendant Warrior, Lita thought, watching Laurelai swirl her drink. So many secrets in this city, each one pressed up against someone else's neck like a knife. Not for the first time, Lita wished for her father's gift. She'd hardly need tin to catch secrets if she could simply soothe someone into telling her instead. There's only one way to get a second Allomantic power, a little voice whispered into her ear. And you may have walked right into someone who can help you acquire it. She pushed the thought away, chewing her lip and purposely flaring tin to accent the pain. She'd listened to that voice before, the voice of her own greed. It was the reason she was in this rusting city and not back in Elendel with her father. Leave now, the sensible part of her brain urged. Get up, go home, and hope this woman forgets you while you still have some decency left. She remembered Forian Tekiel choking on the floor in the dim light of her father's soothing parlor, nails digging tiny furrows into the wood planking, the shock in his eyes both pitiful and satisfying. Watching him die hadn't brought the sense of peace she had hoped for, but it had brought the world just a little bit more under her control. Lita set her empty glass down on the bartop and breathed out slowly. She was already out of decency. "If only I had the good fortune of meeting someone like that," she said, tapping brass. She shivered anyway. 1

Ghostblood Council Member,” he replied instantly, looking towards the girl and sighing. “Look. What are you? Twelve. You’re far too young to be pouty at life. That’s my job. And if you’ve lived even a fraction of my age, you know that the ‘every person gets one chance at life’ sentiment is storming rust. “I don’t make speeches. I leave that to the other Council Members. But you know something I do? Get things done. It’s the only reason they even keep me. “You know how many chances at life I’ve had? Far too many to count. Far too many moments where I could have turned around. But nope. And look at me.” He paused for a second. “And, I don’t care if you can fight,” he said. “Nowadays every man and his dog can fight. It’s not about that.” He felt a tad bit of a sympathy for the girl. It wasn’t her choice to be an Atium Ferring, and yet now she’d have to deal with Lusk. Sympathy, he noted. That’s a good start.

"Great, you've done stuff with your life. You've accomplished things and been important, Mr. Uwik. Congratulations. You're one special snowflake," she said. She wasn't going to change her attitude just because she knew who she was actually talking to - besides, he was somewhat drunk. "You're right that that sentiment is garbage. In life it really is that some people get no chances, while others get more than their fair share even when they don't deserve it." She shrugged. "I'm thirteen, for the record, but age shouldn't dictate a person's right to be anything. Many people accomplish less in their whole life than some have by five. It's just a number. A number that people have assigned meaning to. If I think life hates me, I have every right to my opinion even if that were the case. I don't pout at life, I just don't think my calling is to be found from doing anything important." Freedom knew she had come off as too defensive the moment she shut her mouth. Nothing to do about it now.

It was why he never thought of having kids. They were complete cremlings. He lowered his voice and prepared to leave. “Look, whatever,” he said. “I’ll go.” He paused, thought idly. “You know, you said your chance has gone. But I just realised. This is a chance. But I guess it’s up to you to take it or not.” He stood up and smiled tiredly. “Maybe, when you’re my age you’ll see just how rare we are. Or maybe you won’t care. Not my problem. I’ll be dead.” He turned around and looked the bar. Order another drink, or no?

She walked over to the wall, pressed her forehead against it, and closed her eyes. Then she tapped some age. Not so much that she was a child who couldn't walk, but to around Warmer's age. And thought it all through. She lessened the amount slowly, taking in the perspectives, until finally she started storing instead. At a certain point she came to the same conclusion every time, and she returned to normal. Don't do anything you'll regret. But what would she regret more? Taking this opportunity or losing it? Freedom turned around, making up her mind. Lusk was looking at the bar. She walked over and placed a handful of chrysts down. "Payment for you not to give him anything else to drink. She put a hand to her head, scolding herself for her own foolishness. When was the last time she left her tin on so high in a crowded bar? She put her spectacles back on and turned toward the bartender, Malu, while still keeping half an eye on Laurelai. "Actually," she said, waving down the barkeep, "if it's not too much trouble, I'll have another glass of port please." @Invocation Don't get drunk, Lita told herself, tapping a nail on the counter and shooting the blonde another glance.
