Hey all! Sorry things are going so slowly. It's nearing the end of the academic year, so I know that I've been quite busy. Hopefully things will pick back up once the summer begins.

If you need to scratch the roleplaying itch, I've heard good things about Sanderson Elimination. I know that many of you hail from there, but those that have not checked it out probably should (including me ). I hope we haven't lost any of y'all, and I urge you be patient.

Alright folks! This is my attempt to start things back up. How is everyone’s lives going? I know we were all busy because of one thing or another, but I know that at least for me, my availability has opened up. This is mostly just a check-in for others on if their business have cleared up.

My summer is looking pretty open. School's wrapped up, and summer courses are pretty light. I should be free to begin from here through autumn. Once the main academic year begins, it may be harder to start fresh, instead of sustaining a long-term commitment.

EDIT: In concrete terms, expect one post per day as the minimum, with variation depending on the day.

Cool! If folks can state their current availability like these two very helpfully did, that can help me gauge whether a resuming of the plot is workable or if there will need to be a minor time skip just to reset things a bit.

I am open for a bit. But am heading up to holidays myself, which is when I am least active, but they may change due to certain reasons. But I am ready whenever everyone else is

So let’s try to get our bearings at this point in the story. For newcomers, I’d recommend checking out the plot summary for newcomers if you haven’t already.

Perses (my character and the big bad) has recently emerged from New Hallandren with a cool new awakened coat, and would be ready to get involved in some way.

Asylum Smedry ( @Stormlightsong’s character who is in kahoots with Perses) is currently hopefully wrapping up a competition with Frisian ( @TheFrugalWizard’s character, who is currently tasked with being a grunt for the Smokestack constabulary) over whether Asylum will be arrested in the Koloss Headmunching Festival in Smokestack. Eza ( @Lunamor’s character, who is in a complex relationship with Asylum) and Arranis ( @Scars of Hathsin’s character, who is trying to put law enforcement into his own hands) are watching this ordeal impatiently.

Eleos ( @RoyalBeeMage’s character, a leading force in trying to bring peace with the Mistwarrens through the influence of New Urithiru) is currently engaging with Chloris (my character, a troubled ex-Edgedancer who is without purpose), trying to calm her down and potentially give her direction.

Corbeau ( @Ravenclawjedi42’s character, a clever obligator that seeks Perses’ ruin) has been out of the picture for some time, but has tasked Sonyr ( @TheRavenHasLanded’s character, an easily manipulated librarian) and Keshi ( @Stormlightsong’s character, a Kitsen exile) with gathering information about Perses. Both have found success in their own way, but have finished up their current encounter.

@Longshot97, @GunslingerRadiant, and anybody else currently unattached, I encourage you communicate in the collaboration thread on what you want to do to help with the plot. 
 

And anyone who is currently in an encounter, if you would like to end the encounter or skip ahead to the results of the encounter, feel free to communicate that with those you are RPing with!

General update, simply in the interest of open communication.

Currently, Lunamor and I have a basic plan to insert my character into RP. I am still open to suggestions, but it seems a solid plan, and I'm happy with it.

As a side note, I am considering bringing in a second character for RP. It's nothing serious yet, but I know a couple of people are (or were) RP-ing multiple characters. For those interested in responding (no pressure) are there any issues with having more than one character, or any reason not to?

So mostly it boils down to preference. Generally having two characters can allow freedom to still RP when the person you are RPing with with one character is being slow, but it has the potential downside of being overwhelming when you are in two active interactions, and you need to put in twice as much energy.

 

So if you have the time and feel like you would be able to deal with that potential high reliance on you for a plot, go for it! There are benefits, but noteworthy drawbacks.

Btw, my goal is to end this era soonish. Maybe in two episodes, maybe in three. This plot line is fun, but there are schemes a brewing for the next era, and having a shift in plot can be nice, as well as be a great point for people to hop in, potentially with a new character.
 

Because of that, I invite everyone to think about where you want to take your character. An arc certainly does not have to end by the end of an era, and can definitely span multiple eras or pick up where it left off on the next era. However, having some idea on where you want your character to be by the end of this era is certainly a good thing to start thinking about and working towards.
 

A bit of insight into my plan with Perses: at the moment, Perses has set himself up to be a rising mob boss in the Mistwarrens. However, I do want to establish him as a larger threat to neighboring districts. My current vision is to have something that makes him cause a scene in Smokestack, leading him to claim the Mistwarrens as his own and to have Smokestack not interfere. If any of you feel that your character could set up something to make that happen, or would benefit from this plan, please let me know!

i dont remember where abouts the edgedancer camp is but if perses wants to cause a scene near there then it would be a good way to make him a danger to the whole of the edgedancers and by extension the knights radiant and by extension all of the roshar places.

From what I recall, the Edgedancer camp is on the edge of the mistwarrens, kind of on the border between it and the Sphere. I would certainly be open to that idea, and that could be something Perses does before potentially getting involved in what’s going on in Smokestack with Asylum.

(there isn’t a proper map to Alleycity, and it’s safe to just RP as if any district you want is near any of the other districts)

i think that if you do decide to head over to the edgedancer camp than it would be a good way to jump back in with PLOT!

No worries! We’ve just been starting back up, so you haven’t missed much at all.

@RoyalBeeMage it is worth noting that not once in this interaction did Perses mention his name. Now, it is possible that your character recognizes him, but then you would likely not be acting in the same manner.

Uhhh probably not too long, but this next era is definitely something I’m going to want to make sure everyone RPing is cool with. I’ll reveal more details once we start getting into the final episodes of this era.

on an unrelated note should we do a time jump to our meeting or do you have another idea to do with perses before then?
