Tears of blueish light began to spill from Sophie's eyes and she encased herself in a forcefield. Only her outline could be seen.

Aqua made an exasperated sound in the back of her throat and prodded the forcefield.  You can't just hide away, Sophie! We need you!

FT gave the withergeist a pair of spectacles. "I will call him Withy, and show him the ways of Narration."

The withergeist gave a creepy grin.

The spectacles' frames withered into dust and the lenses fell to the ground.

It opened its mouth and let out a hissing cry, a sound that echoed in the desolate landscape.

Withergeists began to materialize upwards out of the ground, drifting slowly towards the one who had called them.

Truthless entered into a deep, dark, damp cave, one hidden away from the rest of the world. He stepped further in, and up to an altar, upon which a glowing pokéball rested. Hesitantly, Truthless reached out and plucked it from the stand upon which it rested. Immediately, Truthless slammed down another pokéball, and then held his breath.

He waited for a moment, and when nothing happened, he let out a sigh of relief. He almost had made it out the door when he heard it. Growling.

As he looked around, he saw glowing eyes light up in the darkness. Wicked, savage eyes that only held the lust to kill. Truthless turned back towards the entrance and realized that the eyes were congregating there as well. The flickering light from his torch illuminated one briefly, and it was all Truthless could do not to let out a gasp of fear.

Magikarp. Everywhere. Dozens, hundreds of them, all locked onto Truthless.

Panicking, Truthless looked for some way out. He felt for all of his pokéballs, but forgot that he had left all except for the empty one at the inn he had last stayed at. The enchantments on the cave were strong, and any more than one pokéball would bring certain death. It looked like that was what Truthless was facing anyways.

Looking down into his hands, Truthless felt the weight of the glowing pokéball in his hands. Heavier than anything he had ever known. If he opened it now... who could tell what would happen.

Well, it was either die here to the Magikarp or die trying to achieve his life dreams. His destiny.

Inhaling one last time, Truthless opened up the pokéball.

Power.

That was the only word to describe it. Flooding into Truthless’s eyes, ears, mouth, nose, the very pores in his skin, Truthless absorbed raw power.

When Truthless exhaled, he saw all of the Magikarp lying prostrate on the ground, bowing towards him. He took a step forward, and the Magikarp flopped out of his way.

Odd that he needed to step now. Use his physical body. Pausing for a moment, Truthless considered. Then he teleported, appearing in the bunker, where the party was raging on.

BEHOLD!!” Truthless said. Even though he felt like he was whispering, his now-powerful voice echoed through the building. “I AM THE SHARD OF MUDKIP!”

"Ah! It's so good to see you all." A.C. brought out the cheese he had been aging, and infused it with Gandalf-level fireworks. Now the party could really get going. He handed some of it to everyone.

Edit: After handing out the firework cheese, A.C. was blasted backwards in a spectacular manner as Truthless materialized.

Except Truthless wasn’t the shard of Mudkip. He was the pitiful shard of Magikarp.

Someone wrote a song about how pitiful Truthless is for reasons.

Spoiler

Totally pathetic, unreliable. Known throughout the world for being super weak...it’s so weak, the weakest in the land. So weak that it’s sad, really really sad. The weak Pokémon, that’s you, Magikarp...Honestly, it’s magical you’ve survived this long. All it does is jump and splash, jump and splash around. It splashes up whole mountains and all the way back down. Why jump? What’s the point when nobody cares? It uses Splash in battle. Nothing happens. Jumping and splashing, every single day. Until Pidgeotto… carries it away...The pity Pokémon, Magikarp, it’s true. At least your lowly ranking… means nothing to you.

A.C. is taken aback. He puts up his fists. "Hey! Can't you see that he's a nun?! Well if you don't like that, then you can just fight me."

"Bad Withy, bad Withy!"

In response, Withy playfully galloped up the wall and onto the ceiling, and started hanging from a bunker chandelier.
