He wasn’t going to become part of Mistair’s story again. I don’t have a choice. I have to fight. This Thread won’t allow a clean regeneration. Shouldn’t he welcome death? After all these years? When the time comes. I can’t allow Mistair to hurt anyone else the way he hurt me. Picking up the sword, Vlanis yelled at the inky man. “Mistair doesn’t care. All he sees in anyone is their potential to entertain him. He thinks himself an Author.” Readying into a stance, he called the memories of swordplay back to him. Inkwell hesitates, conflicted, the suddenly explodes into black smoke, two identical forms emerging from the cloud and advancing on both Mistair and Vlanis, mordite blades swinging. Inkwell silently tested Vlanis’ defenses, letting his anger out on a leash. With Mistair, however, the animal within, the mordite in his veins, it would not be held back. He found that yelling made it easier to speak coherently. Mostly. And so he screamed at Mistair as he battered at the man with full force. “Tension buildup? You’re asking me about tension buildup? I’ve been building tension for months. Do you have any idea the constant pain a witherbound goes through, especially one tying to be a good guy? But you, you in your smug little suit and your author good guy and bad guy frenemy pair, you would know so much more about tension buildup, wouldn’t you. Tell me, Mistair, how much has Vlanis done for you? Has he fought by your side? Risked his life for you? Has he given you a body? And I know exactly what this is going to look like. You’ll feud and get in each other’s way but pretend to be brothers, until you betray him. And on that day, do you think he’ll hesitate to kill you because he’s the good guy?” Inkwell watched Mistair’s reaction as he did his best to hack him to pieces.

Inkwell simultaneously grinned at both combatants, a dark, knowing smile. Then as he met the next blow from Mistair, he altered the rigidity of his sword, making it act like a substance similar to hardened caramel, but far more durable. As Mistair struck, the blade bit into Inkwell’s sword and lodged there. He ripped it from Mistair’s grasp and flung it away. Then, as Vlanis was momentarily distracted, his other body lunged forward, tossing the sword away and grabbing Vlanis around the wrist with a mordite touch. He held on for just long enough for the skin to start burning before he yanked the other away towards Mistair, stepping back and watching. Amazingly, Vlanis had kept ahold of his sword. i need another way to describe both these characters. When you have three characters of the same gender, you can’t use “he” all the time cause its confusing, nor their names because its repetitive. For example, I might call refer to Inkwell as “the witherbound”

Mistair: the Narrator, the Victorian man, the storyteller Vlanis: the Wayfarer, the man in white, the knife-wielder The Outlier: Matias, the chain-wielder, the wanderer, the solemn one Vlanis didn't lower his guard, standing ready as he watched the witherbound carefully. Mistair clenched his teeth, eyes burning with fury. The suit's outbursts became more chaotic and frequent. "FINE," he snarled. "You want to play dirty?" Interesting Inkwell was testing Vlanis’ reaction, trying to see what he would do given an opportunity to attack Mistair while disarmed. The witherbound’s bodies each split in two, all now brandishing mordite blades, and each advanced on a copy of Mistair. The one that had been fighting Vlanis glanced at him. “You pass. Do what you will.”

"I can sneak up behind him, weaken him, then kill him."

He’s currently locked in fourfold combat with Mistair.

Mr Mistair attacked Inkwell with a mace furiously, fighting the witherbound and the variable he represented. From the edge of his vision, something blurred towards him. The silver‑eyed Wayfarer was already mid‑leap, one hand warping with summoned Anti‑Intent. The look in the Vlanis’s eyes made the Narrator hesitate — just for a heartbeat. Then the last thread of composure snapped. “NOOO!” The scream tore out of him, and a shockwave blasted both attackers down the street. His suit erupted into a storm of chaotic color, hues clashing like a broken kaleidoscope. Unnatural multi-colored glames burst to life around him.

In her hand was a dagger formed from a pitch-black stone, engraved with intricate carvings that flickered with an unknown magic. The handle of the weapon was made out of some kind of gold metal. She bowed, and then spoke. "My name is Ribbon. Narrator formed from Narrator. What allegiances do you have?"
IAmThatOneGuy He/Him Posted May 14 Posted May 14 The Narrator screamed, voice cracking under the weight of everything he’d buried. “Do you know how many times I’ve been beaten down, told what to do, been a victim of circumstance? I grew up without parents, surrounded by psychopaths wanting to break me!” The flames spiraled outwards in swirls of purple and orange. “When I had finally crawled my way to the top, and everything was going my way, it came burning down around me!” The flames grew exponentially, spreading across the street and outwards. He shouted, his voice reverberating. “So I am going to use this illusion, this power, this story to make sure that I am in control! I am the one pulling the strings! ” For a heartbeat, surrounded by flames, Mr. Mistair’s form flickered– a bruised child, a burned young man, a terrified survivor — before snapping back to his usual shape, eyes wild and unfocused. “I don’t care about Narrators, or Authors, or ANYTHING! I don’t care that we are all just words on a page, given semblance by imagination!” he screeched. “I manipulate you because it's the only thing I have left! It's either torment, or be tormented! AND I WILL NOT BE TORMENTED AGAIN!!”

If what came before the thread is your breaking point, it’d be better for you to die now. This is not mercy, but trust me, I feel for you.” He raised Futility and fortified himself, then continued his relentless attack.

Rebus Clarke is my friend.. uh. Bacon-“ she bit her tongue remembering he was dead. Her brain went through her allies, sequence -dead- bacon -dead- scribe -dead- though he had a ghost. She wasnt able to reach him though. “Rebus… i already said him.”
