endless cycle was born.

Fred realised that by letting go of his guilt, he was slowly killing DETI. Suddenly, Fred felt more guilty than he could ever have imagined.

And DETI grew bigger than Fred could ever have imagined.

This caused Fred to feel better about himself, causing DETI to shrink, causing Fred to feel guilty, and so on, and so forth...

They all became insane.

"Alright. Cryptic answers, I'm definitely on some sort of quest. I am ready."

I had this part already written, but I was going to write this bigger thing with like Micheal and Spook. However, I kinda quit on it. So here ya go-

"no," Thaidakar said sternly, "You're not on a quest." He laughed quietly, having a sip of super lava. "You are going through three trials to prove whether you can live or not, to prove your balance. We shall begin." Thaidakar waved a hand forward and Platypus's eyes closed.

When he opened them, he was in a place of pure happiness... Each being he met said to him, "You can stay here, Platypus! Please stay!" Indeed, it was the truth. Platypus could stay there and find eternal happiness for all time. All he had to do was say a few words.

"I will abandon my quest to stop Darkness."

But would he say them?

Platypus looked around at everyone around him, heart heavy as he saw his friends happy.  "What is the point of a place always happy? With no conflict, no excitement, I cannot remain here. I cannot be truly happy here. I need the struggle, the delicate walk between balance and unbalance to keep me sane. I cannot stay, my friends. I must continue onward." Taking one last look at the happy people, he spotted what he thought was Thaidakar, and he knew he had to go.

"I cannot abandon my quest. I will not leave the world to suffer under the control of the Dark. I must continue on."

"I cannot abandon my quest. I will not leave the world to suffer under the control of the Dark. I must continue on."

It was Thaidakar that he saw, but he wasn’t in a cloak.

His face was split into a laughing smile, a handsome woman next to him, grinning. A dark haired teenager with more resemblance to Thaidakar chuckled. Was that… was that Spook? And there was another man in his late teens or early twenties with the same red hair as the woman, but the same smile as Thaidakar.

Thaidakar looked up, saw Platypus. His smile widened even further. And his eyes… they were much different from all the other times Platypus had seen them. They were free from a guilt, a deep wallowing guilt that had seemed to escape notice normally, but now, when seeing the guilt free Thaidakar… He looked as if he had true joy.

”Come, Platypus, my son, join us! We are about to start our picnic! Valaran brought grilled cheese.” Thaidakar smiled, offering his hand to Platypus from about ten to twenty feet away, “We can all live happily together. We’re going to one of Spook’s baseball games after. He lost the last one, but he’s been practicing so much, I’m sure he’ll win this one!” He ruffled his son's hair.

Spook yelped, “Dad!” Fourteen year old Spook was a far cry from the Spook Platypus knew, but it was unmistakably him.

”Come,” Thaidakar said to Platypus, “We can be happy.”

The woman smiled at Platypus, “Kar has said so much about the honorary third son of ours. I’d be happy to have you in our home.”

The smiles were so real, so genuine. The thing was that they truly were real, there was no deception in those eyes or behind their words.

”Come,” Thaidakar said again, a sad smile on his face, “TLT will have other heroes, that’s how it goes. Cannot one finally get a happy ending and leave it to another. Can’t you rest after all your battles, after all the injustices. And then we can be a happy family, without world ending threats, big villains and, yes, without Darkness at our heels. It can happen, I swear it.”

The Great Robert the Sponge took it upon himself to resolve this cycle once and for all. Mostly because he was tired of DETI eating his temple.

So he threw DETI into an active volcano.

Platypus cried, tears streaming down his face as he looked at them. "I cannot. Thaid, you know I cannot. I'm sorry, I must go. TLT will have heroes, but none are acting. The removal of Darkness, it falls on my shoulders. I brought him into this world again, and I will take him out of it once more. This I vow. I fear this may be our last time to meet. Fare thee well." He turned to leave, internally cursing the one that had sent him here.

And the scene froze.

A hand laid itself gently on Platypus' arm. Thaidakar began to speak, but it wasn't the one in front of Platypus.

"He wasn't lying, Platypus," He said softly, his cloak brushing Platypus slightly, "You could remain here and never have to deal with this again. It could all be over. However," Thaidakar said, "If you stay, it will all be over for your journey and you will never achieve pure balance. And, yet..." Thaidakar turned Platypus around to face him. His hood was down, his eyes were those guilt filled eyes that Platypus remembered. Those eyes that had seen much and done far too much for their liking. "If you leave, you will never have peace of the soul again. There is balance in all things. You have had happiness, but you also have need of removing happiness from yourself to save TLT."

Thaidakar nodded, "But I know you have chosen to leave and to help TLT. You are wiser than I ever was." He snapped his fingers and a swirling portal appeared beside him, "If you go through this, you will enter the next trial."

Platypus looked at him for just a second. "I will find peace."

Then, looking at the scene wistfully one last time, he turned and walked through the portal without a second glance.

Causing Fred to feel wildly guilty. Predictably, DETI grew large enough that the lava was a mere annoyance. In fact, the volcano was beginning to feel dangerously cramped.

So the volcano became magically enhances to be the size of Deti and in a pocket dimension

This pocket dimension resided in Miracle’s jean pocket.

Miracle's pockets were always filled with strange, often magical, occasionally deadly trinkets she had found, but a literal pocket dimension was leagues beyond anything she had previously collected. Despite the recent destruction of her planet, Miracle could not help but smile at this newest acquisition.

Miracle’s joy at having a pocket dimension filled with an active volcano about to burst with the physical embodiment of guilt was, to put it lightly, concerning.

"If you say so..." Thaidakar said softly as he left.

Energy swirled around Platypus as he emerged in a room with a palatable darkness in it, a force of malevolence. A voice spoke softly in his head. Familiar, but not recognizable. "Remember the knife."

Red energy mixed with the darkness forming... Darkness? But he had red energy instead of purple glowing in his eyes, wreathed around his body. His voiced hissed at Platypus, "Ready to die?"

"I do," he said before the energy swirled.

Platypus looked around, still holding the knife.

"I've always accepted death comes for all. One cannot escape it. But I will not die. Tell me, do you fear death?" He settled into a comfortable stance, light on his feet while seeming relaxed. His blade was raised, a silver sliver in a room full of the dark.

Although if you asked her, she would say it's a miracle.

Because lava from an active volcano was the only way she could save her brother.

He had a rare disease called magmitis, and lava was the only cure.

Unfortunately, though Miracle had a volcano, she didn't know how to harvest the lava.
