This was Chanandler's first meal in two weeks (his curse made it hard to consistently catch food), so he was overjoyed, and very grateful for Miracle's help. Miracle, on the other hand, had just witnessed a strange man devour a pineapplewatermelon as it screamed for mercy, and so was rather disturbed when Chanandler proceeded to swear his undying fealty to her.

Miracle then proceeded to make the unwise decision of asking Chanandler for help with her volcano.

Chanandler immediately agreed, another sign that he was probably not the most sound of mind.

The Friz was indignant that she wasn’t the one taking a child into an incredibly dangerous volcano.

She was absolutely the right person to ask for help with a volcano problem, but for some reason Miracle hadn't thought of doing so.

This is because Miracle was suffering from memory loss after Ms. Frizzle’s lesson about the effects of amnesia on brain chemistry.

This was because her classmates had accidentally zapped each other with the amnesia gun, and now no one remembered that they had midterms today.

And, honestly, even if Miracle had not been zapped by an amnesia gun, she most likely would have slept through the Friz's announcement of Chemistry midterms anyway. Miracle loathed Chemistry, and her teacher's blatant disregard for student safety did not help.

Unfortunately, Longcat got distracted by an obsidian knife before he could finish his explanation.

This meant nothing to the explanation, as Longcat was in brazil, and a meta bucket of cheese was the one explaining. Longcat, however, now has an obsidian bladebreaker katana.

His friend/brother/mortal enemy Shortcat had a diamond pickaxe, so it didn’t matter all that much.
