The reason I brought him back was because I enjoyed writing his scenes. That's the purpose of TLT. TLT is not supposed to be a complete book or story or whatnot. It exists so people can enjoy writing things in here.

Suddenly pineapples, I had never heard of before (I thought it was a person if you remember) It certainly didn't outline it's full capabilities, and if you expected me to know what it was doing by reading back a couple hundred pages, then no, I did not know what it did, and you should have specified what "anti-light beams" do. I wouldn't have given kill permission if I knew they weren't returning for a while.

Why is desolation an evil person? Good question. I think you've already realized, he sort of doesn't have other emotions that cause him to be evil besides his desire for chaos. And where does that stem from? Great question. Either way, desolation has weaknesses (I was considering making one of them fire, but decided that was too generic). If I would say his emotional weaknesses basically consist of being proven wrong.

Desolation started to split, sending copies to go try and find a secret lab of Nowhere.

I mean I'm a big fan of not invincible, not powerful, completely normal characters (in a sense) but Desolation is the first time in a while that I've tried a character who is actually strong.

In the most part, I would agree. However, I would say that when you are trying to be plot-important, it is important to make it a little less of "I'm doing this because I feel like it" and more "I'm doing this because it needs to happen".

ok, I thought I mentioned that it would banish them for a long time. I do not remember that. It was never explained in the past as it was never held before Hacob. Again, I thought that I did specify what the light beams did. I also thought it was fairly obvious that the anti-light beams were just to isolate the real Desolation. I apologize if i was unclear.

I would say that he is evil because his goal is to kill the Narrators. If you think about it, 90% of the population of TLT is Narrators and Narrator-adjacent (Avatars,  who could become heirs to the Narration and thus Narrators). I just haven't seen any physical weakness. My bad for assuming too much.

Ok.

Man, I love the Shard. it's one of the places I can admit to being wrong without people being shocked. And the community can also admit when they're wrong. Love ya'll <3

Yeah, I love the shard. It’s one of the places where I get to be wrong all the time and listen to everyone politely correct me only for me to still get things wrong…

is he evil? I would say yes. You are right about the 1 dimensionality of Desolation. He wants to kill all the narrators, but why? I would say he does this to be in control. If he kills enough narrators, eventually they'll fall into line and conjoin with an inkling. Or maybe they won't. That's where the normal people fall.

Also, fire is not one of Desolation's weaknesses because then he would wind up being a venom rip-off or an analogy for peterol oil.

In case you were wondering, inklings can use other narrators' powers so long as they follow the right criteria.

Thaidakar Von Kelsier, Narrator extraordinaire, resident philosopher and one of the current antagonists knew that, to the person he used to be, he was doing the wrong thing.

Currently, he knew he was doing something that, in the end, despite its unsavory nature, would bring about something beautiful. Something he could be proud of. It was, in his eyes, unfortunate that no-one would see the true purpose of what he was doing. But that was one of the sacrifices he had to make. It killed him inside that he had to watch them all regard him as a horrible person, but he knew that that this was the only way.

And that scared him to the very core.

What if what he was doing wasn't good...

What if his plan failed and he ended up in history as the villain of the story? He didn't want that.

Thaidakar stroked the side of a dust covered painting in a library in the ruins of a city he loved very much. He missed the days when he could ignore the tragedies, when he could ignore the cruel side of TLT. When he could ignore what had been done to him and what he'd seen. He dearly wanted to be back in ignorance of the truth, those glorious days of inconsequential battles, those squabbles over things no-one truly cared about.

That had all changed in his mind on one crucial day.

One moment had changed it all.

That's all it had taken, one moment. And that moment had shown him the truth of the place he had used to call home.

TLT never valued hard work, not unless it was illogical. That was the way Thaidakar thought now. TLT was cruel. It valued no work over hard work. It valued those who didn't try to save people over those who wanted, in their hearts, to help. And... Thaidakar wanted to change that. Change it so that people like him could find their place in the world. It had to change somehow. He'd sat down in the afterlife after he'd realized this and had come up with the plan. It had taken a while, but he'd finally sent it back into the past where the past version of himself had discovered it and implemented it, removing their own memory at the perfect time.

Things could finally change. He just had to help them along to the point where he could let go and let them do it themselves.

He smiled softly, wiping the dust off of the painting, "Change... the selfish people will no longer have control over us, love. We'll finally be free..." A woman's face stared back at him lifelessly from the portrait. Of course she did. Could he expect her to talk back to him? He wasn't in some kind of Rowling novel, after all. A part of him was disappointed, despite that. "I wish you were here right now... then we could join our purposes and fix this place. I wish you were here to guide me and figure this out. I wish you were here to tell me the truth of it if I'm wrong or right in what I'm doing. You're the only person I ever could truly talk to... The only one who understood what I was seeking to do in my life... Come back to me."

If only she could. If only she'd be able to come back. It had taken nearly every trick in the book to remember her, to remember her and so that others could. If he hadn't, even her sons- even Spook would've forgotten her. And, yet, he hadn't. He'd immediately sensed the hole, immediately had seen that there was someone he'd used to talk to about everything, someone closer to him than anyone in his life. He still didn't remember everything from the hole in his memory, the hole in everyone's memory, for that matter, but he remembered her.

And that was enough.

And... the other things he could remember... those were what changed it for him. Those were the reasons why he knew that he was doing was for the greater good. For, what was lost was what needed to be found. And, with that knowledge, Thaidakar knew that it was coming. In the end, Spook must've been wrong. For, if he was right... Thaidakar wouldn't be able to live with what he'd been doing.

If Spook was right, Thaidakar would be forced to remove his defenses next time he faced Platypus and, by doing that, he would be letting Platypus kill him once and for all.

Because... if Spook truly was right about what he'd seen... if the roles were different than Thaidakar perceived... he would truly be the villain of the story. He would be the person he never wanted to become.

And that in and of itself would be unbearable.

Desolation, as it seemed, was not completely alone. That voice. It was so persuasive. Almost too much. In that sense, he could almost smell the hints of betrayal from their conversation earlier. He went and remembered the steel plate, on which he read.

The guy had wanted to leave desolation behind eventually. Finding mordite was a daunting task, but not impossible. Even then, it wouldn't be his. It was technically worthless.

So why was he doing this person's bidding? Because they made a false promise? Besides, no matter if the mysterious voice continued with the promise, it wouldn't benefit Desolation.

But what did Desolation need? He needed weapons. Powerful weapons. If the mysterious voice or Platypus were to attack again, they would certainly bring something strong. Maybe others, other narrators even.

But what weapons would last against narrators? In a single thought, they could make a normal steel blade disappear. Heck, they could make planets disappear. The weapons that imnediately came to mind were the Plotblades.

There were many, and holding even a single one gave you a decent advantage over anyone else. Desolation already had Foreshadowing, but he knew there were more.

Aranis or Falvan - one of the two held Side Character. That one would be easy to get, and Desolation wouldn't be drastically affected by it.

Spook - he held Plotblade of Plot as a young child susceptable to emotions, he could be manipulated.

Nobody - he held analysis. He was worthless.

Onyx - They held Suddently, Pineapples. That blade still scared Desolation. Without the proper protection, Suddently, Pineapples could end him and the inklings.

Conflict - That was held by Onyx. Due to them having Suddently, Pineapples, Desolation wasn't going to try them.

Venegance - Platypus' blade. Desolation didn't need it, butif he could get it, he would take it.

Plot development - Rirrom. He could do stuff to Desolation, but desolation would overpower him easily. He was an easy target.

Endings - Desolation would sure enjoy that one. But he didn't think it was worth the risk.

Of course, there was Change. Who even held it now? Falvan? Aranis? That one was fun to work with.

There were smaller, less known plotblades like Flashback or Annotation. But those didn't have a weilder and were therefore worthless to Desolation.

Desolation decided to go try to retrieve Plot development, Side character, Character (spooks blade), and Change. He split himself into four Desolations to each go and tail down the blade.

@Thaidakar the Ghostblood Spook is where? Assume Desolation arrives nearby. I didn't want to write something that might be wrong so yeah.

@Scars of Hathsin I think you held Change or Side character. One of the two. Either way, Desolation is coming. Again, same as Thaidikar. Don't want to cannonize a location yet.

@Nameless* Rirrom is with Dark figure and Falvan. Desolation is also going to arrive there. I would ping witisthebest but since I can't:

Please don't bring Suddently pineapples. That would be anticlimatic.

Hacob smiled. "It seems Platypus was right. That box was immune to Narration. Seems you do have Author powers still. I wonder... You should be able to reach out through the shield. Try to trace your Connection to Russ, and see if you still have the ability to control, or at least influence, his choices. Seems like you'll probably have a role to play."

I have to go soon anyway, so good night!

The once-author cocked his head, and then reached out. He could feel Ryss. He was trying to break through the shield. The Once-author pushed at the connection. He couldn’t control Ryss, not like he once had. But he could… subdue him. And influence what he did. “Yeah, I can feel the connection. And influence him.” The Once-author said. “This… this could get very interesting.”

Spook is in his early twenties at mind and holds the Plotblade of Character as you said. Spook is currently hidden in a place that I think I've visited in the role-play at least once before. He can be found eventually, but it will take some searching. Spook being manipulated won't be as easy as Desolation thinks, however. There's been some fun stuff happening with Spook off camera.

The voice is also something you'll want to be wary of. There's some antagonists and villains I have planned for the near and far future.

The voice, sensing this train of thought, whispered, "Mordite is what you need... It cannot be removed as easily as you think. It is what the Withergeists are made of. They were powerful beings that destroyed many, many people. Do not underestimate what you can need for this plan. Patience, Desolation, patience..."

That'll have to do.

Desolation is totally the antagonist and I'm fine with that. He just now has a greater goal to hype up the eventual Narrators vs Desolation fight.

Please don't bring Suddently pineapples. That would be anticlimatic.

yeah, I wasn't planning on it.

Hacob smiled. "Do you think you could subdue him outside the shield? If so, that will make life much easier for you."

I'll do more for ya'll later, got a test to take. Oh, and Thaid, if I can't appear where you are (I assumed his mansion) then that whole scene isn't canon.

"I... I think I could." The Once-Author said. "Yeah, I could!"

I got a whole bunch of chem HW due tomorrow, so I'm gonna be off for a while.

"I will help you only partially. I am in need of weaponry, lest I fall to narrators or authors."

How long would it take Desolation to find spook? Also, in case you haven't noticed, Desolation thinks of basically everyone as "easy to manipulate and easy to kill" so that's that for you.
