Jondesu he/him Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Black Panther was just perfect for me. One of my favorite Marvel characters and their portrayal did not disappoint. His last line to Zemo, "the living are not done with you yet" was fantastic. Spider-Man was good, I'm definitely looking forward to his movie. My biggest gripe was that I felt that the movie ended too cleanly. Yeah, the Avengers are "split" but I was really expecting some longer lasting reprecussions besides Captain and his team doing their own thing. But we will see how it goes on that route. Cap and his team are fugitives though, and while maybe Iron Man won't try to track them down again himself, there's going to be huge ramifications if police forces around the world consider him a criminal, or especially if they have orders to shoot on sight. jW
WayneSpren he/him Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 (edited) "This is your last chance Cap, stay down" "I could do this all day" ALL THE FEELS. Hawkeye I'm a little more meh about, Black Widow definitely needs her own movie or three. If they'd done Hawkeye like the comic and had his wife be Bobbi, that would have been far more fascinating. (I haven't read the comics but I have a friend who has). Either way he's cool and could easily have his own movie. Falcon too. Black Widow NEEDS a movie. She's been in more Marvel films than practically anybody. Edited May 18, 2016 by WayneSpren
Mestiv he/him Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Black Widow NEEDS a movie. She's been in more Marvel films than practically anybody. Then Stan Lee needs his own movie even more!
Jondesu he/him Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Stan Lee is obviously The Watcher. I thought he was The One Above All, or was that Jack Kirby? jW
Delightful Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Black Widow NEEDS a movie. She's been in more Marvel films than practically anybody. I don't even think Nick Fury has been in as many. Cmon Marvel!!
Sunbird she/her Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 On the subject of Black Widow--I would also settle for a Hawkeye/Widow duo movie. Hawkeye doesn't have his own movie yet either, and I feel like he also doesn't get enough love. 1
Orlion Blight he/him Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 They need to make a good Man-Thing movie
Sunbird she/her Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 (edited) They need to make a good Man-Thing movie I think this would get even more of a "What in Calamity??" reaction from the public than many people thought Guardians of the Galaxy would receive. Edited May 20, 2016 by Sunbird
Patar he/him Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 It was awesome! I do want to quickly agree on Black Panther and Spiderman were awesome, and a Black Widow solo movie would be incredible. So... when do you guys think we'll see Bucky again? Would it be possible we see him in the Black Panther movie, and he fights alongside T'Challa in order to make up for what he's done? Or will he not return until Infinity War? Also, this isn't really spoilers, but did anybody hear (the rumor, I believe) about Kevin Feige and the Russo brothers wanting to bring Wolverine into the MCU in a similar way Spiderman was? I think that'd be awesome. Perhaps if we're lucky, we could have an Avengers vs. X-Men movie? Doubt it would happen, but we can always fantasize.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I'm a tad late to this party, but I just saw Civil War and was not disappointed. I loved how balanced and nuanced the narrative was: Rather than taking sides as the comic books did, the script presented each character's motivations and goals in an unbiased way, then let their actions work toward a satisfying conclusion. It would've been easy to portray Cap as the hero fighting for freedom against an uncaring government, or Tony as the selfless man who puts the good of others ahead of his own rights, but instead we got to see both sides, flaws and all, with neither shown as more or less "moral" than the other. This is a story about grey areas, and I enjoyed seeing those areas explored without any easy answers given. I'll agree with others saying Black Panther and Spiderman are perfect. (When will Sony admit that it's time to give him back to Marvel already?) 5

ParadoxicalZen he/him Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I thought he was The One Above All, or was that Jack Kirby? jW That was Kirby I believe. It would be interesting to see them bring in/reference more cosmic beings besides the Celestials (Living Tribunal would be dope) although they need to get the rights back from Fox for Uatu the Watcher

I thought they just had the rights for the FF and all the mutant characters.

On this note, while I agree with everyone else's motivations being well explained the one person whose motivations I had issue with was Scarlet Witch, she just smashes Vision halfway through the planet because she's essentially sick of being grounded. Felt a little too childish for me considering her development in Ultron.

Felt a little too childish for me considering her development in Ultron. I took it more as her fighting Vision because Clint convinced her that she needed to atone for what she'd done, somehow. I'll agree that that bit was a bit dodgy on the development—it felt rushed, and maybe just a few more lines of dialogue would've helped there—but I think being convinced she had to act to make up for Sorkovia as opposed to staying out of it made sense as a motivation there.
Delightful Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Her and Hawkeyes motivations were a little glosses over. Clint came out of retirement because.....his friends were all fighting and he wanted in on the action??
ParadoxicalZen he/him Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 When did Fox get the rights for Uatu? I thought they just had the rights for the FF and all the mutant characters. I think they get all of the characters with major cameos in the series, which is why I believe we haven't had an appearance from the Skrulls, Galactus, Silver Surfer and Uatu. I could be wrong though

Sunbird she/her Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I believe you are right. The Watcher is considered part of the Fantastic Four property. Ah, ok. I guess I sort of considered him a character that was kind of on his own rather than being associated with any particular super-team.
Briar King Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Twi did you stay for end credits clips? One of your issues has been solved already. I was watching Ultron last night and had forgot that Wakanda had been introduced already. Watched GotG today again just cause it was on and now I'm watching Ant Man right after that for the 1st time and wishing I hadn't choose to skip it at movies. 1
ParadoxicalZen he/him Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I really want to watch the whole boxset :/
