Tolkien and Lewis would often sit together at a local pub or tavern and converse about their beliefs in the creatures and the activities of the middle earth, a strange realm of a little people and magical powers

Come on that article has to be satire.

I'm assuming this has to be satire. I fail to comprehend a person who actually believes this. For example:

Thinking back, a friend of mine did something relatively similar at school once. Because we we so consistently told that "x doesn't mean x, it's secretly an allegory for y, isn't it obvious?" my friend typed up something nonsensical and then pretended it was homework from the teacher to write a paragraph about it's allegorical meaning. 20 minutes later of me and a few others scratching our heads after coming up with about 30 different interpretations, he gave in and told us. I'm guessing this is similar. Student gets fed up with teacher (or maybe priest in this case) talking about the religious allegories of Narnia, so writes a contrasting opinion for the fun of it to show how unprovable allegories really are.

OK, first off, it's spelled "sabbat".

Second, what in the name of furry purple wood sprites is, "the waxing moon is also directly on the equinox on the release date of the movie" supposed to mean?  These words make no sense in relation to each other!  We have two equinoxes a year - fall and spring.  Yule is the winter *solstice*.  It's like he just strung together a bunch of word salad that sounded vaguely pagany!

I seem to recall a very similar argument about the "Lord of the Rings rips off Harry Potter" debate.Half the people said he was an idiot, the other half claimed it was satire.

And the last half just didn't understand percentages.

See, it's articles like these that make religious people look like wackos. <_<

It's not just religious people; I saw an article claiming Frozen was sexist because of their waist and eye sizes. And because men are central to the plot. I was like duuuude have you*seen* the movie before commenting.

Equality for dumb commentators! :P

I read one anti-Frozen article claiming Elsa's outfit was more objectifying than the one worn by the main character in Sucker Punch because the actress in the latter movie could perform acrobatics in her outfit while Elsa couldn't do that in her dress. It was...odd.

Truth.

"It's articles like these that make you lose your faith in humanity", then? :P

Im sure if animals could vote they would have voted for our extinction hundreds of years ago.

Im not sure what I am trying to say with that. Either that we shouldnt let animals vote or that humans should stop sucking so much.

Why not both?

Pugs would just vote for endless snacks and snuggles.

And cats would enslave us all. That is why I like cats, they are relatable.

Why not both?

There was this guy at NYLT who had this as basically his catchphrase.

"If you tried that you'd either break your neck or get a concussion!"

"...why not both?"

If you look for the good, humanity is wonderful and warm and caring. If you look at the bad people can be absolute horrific monsters. I have faith in humanity as a whole, even if there are a ton of people who don't live up to normal decent standards. It seems like we can go to either extreme.

Is NYLT fun? I'm planning on going to it this year.
